    Excellent Laptop with minor flaws

This laptop does everything that I need it to do, processing large spreadsheets, writing documents, web-surfing, playing games (that aren't graphic intense). Windows 10 runs fine. PC seems to be fast, at least fast enough (I haven't put it under stress to test its speed, but it has been fast enough for all off my needs). Everything works fine, as I would expect. My only disappointments so far (one month in) is the quality of the DVD player. The closing mechanism is flimsy and can come off in you hand when closing the drive. BTW, my previous HP Laptop (one generation back from this one) had the same DVD player problem, so I cannot conclude that the issue is unique to my laptop.

I recently purchased this after having a bad experience with the Lenovo Edge 2 that caused me to return that one. This one may not look quite as good, physically, but it has twice the ram, a dedicated GPU and an i7 instead of an i5 cpu, as well as a screen that is 2 inches larger. It's fast, fairly quiet and seems to have no problems running the programs I want it to. Even has better-than-above-average sound from 4 speakers plus a subwoofer. The screen, while being "only" 1080 (still perfectly fine these days, don't fall for the 4k hype) is AMAZING as far as laptops are concerned. If I had to point out some... "bad"... things, I guess I would say that I'm not really a fan of the dual color option, that is, when it's closed, it's silver but once you open it, the bezel around the monitor and around the keyboard is a black, brushed aluminum. The darker color makes the colors on the screen stand out more, but I wish the entire unit was this color. But I can't knock a star for that. Also, I feel that the image put for by the "Intel Core i7" logo is kind of misleading as this isn't that much of an increase over the i7. Heck, it's still a dual core with hyperthreading, so a pseudo quad-core. But that's just nitpicking, it's only a laptop-grade CPU. So far, been almost a week without a single problem.

Graphics, sound, memory, processor - all great. Bought this for home use, such as the larger screen for watching programs not on TV. Might be a bit big/heavy to be always on the go. I also needed something with a CD drive. This is one of the few that has one.

The HP Envy is an amazing product. I enjoy the large screen, Windows 10, and the many features of the Envy. With my multiple experiences with all HP computers, the battery does not last long at all. This is the same situation with the HP Envy. Other than that, I would highly recommend this computer to anyone.

Love the big screen, keyboard and features. However, the laptop is very heavy, has a short batter life and a somewhat unresponsive mouse pad. In spite of that, I very happy with my purchase.

I have to say, this laptop was probably one of the sweetest, most powerful computers I've ever purchased (not to mention one of the heaviest too, but that's not too big a deal). This computer is LOADED with features for the person who is looking for a computer to use for video editing, pictures, and gaming. Man, the gaming. I could spout off all the features this laptop has (like a 3D camera, 1TB HDD, 16 freakin' GB of RAM!!!, 6th generation Intel Core i7!!!!, NVIDIA GeForce 940M graphics card with 2GB of dedicated video memory!!!!, bluetooth, and... this is important, especially for a laptop; 4 USB 3.0 ports. All in all, you want a laptop that's great for gaming, or just want to have a really powerful laptop. This is the one for you.

Great computer for the price and worked flawlessly until I tried to upgrade the BIOS in response to a message from the HP Support app. The computer would not boot and screen remained blank no matter what I did. Fortunately, I was able to return it to Best Buy. I tried getting another computer of similar spec, but came up short, so I got an exact same computer as replacement. It's worked wonderfully ever since. Morale of this story: Don't try to upgrade the BIOS and you and your computer will live happily ever after.

I've had this laptop for about a month now and it's the best laptop I've ever had. It's fast, easy to use, and it helps whenever I'm multitasking. It is a little heavy but I don't think it's a huge problem at all. Overall, I really enjoy using this laptop!

I loved the size of the screen and wondered if it might be bulky, but it's not! And I love all the features that are still included which you can't find on a lot of laptops in this price range -- AND it was on sale! Fabulous computer!!

This laptop was just what I needed to finally stop being chained to my pc. I use this device for graphic intensive design work. It works well with the Adobe suite. I was thrilled to receive $50.00 in Microsoft credits and 25G of space on Dropbox, as added perks. The keyboard is nicely spaced. I didn't have to give up my number pad, and the touch screen is great. All in all I'm very pleased with this laptop.

You'd think that it would be a top-shelf laptop, right ? A very sloooow 5400 rpm 1TB HDD, so slow that I thought it was defective due to almost 2-minute boot times. There's an M.2 SATA III socket on the motherboard, that is disabled because of the simpleton, "computers for dummies" BIOS. There's no drive options in there at all. And the multitude of layers of know-nothings working in HP's customer service don't even understand what an M.2 SSD is. The supposed Nvidia 940M discrete GPU never seems to activate, no matter what GPU-intensive application is running. The battery is unusually small for a premium laptop. I called HP about where to buy, since the HP Accessories website is still unaware of this model (November 2015 release), they couldn't handle that question either. Just excuses. Lastly, if you would want to dump Windows 10 Home version, forget it. Tried to install Win 10 Pro from both OEM DVD and a USB stick. Defeated on each occasion. When installation is complete, Pro has been changed to Home version. 3 times !!! Still a mystery, and HP had no answers for that issue either. I improved the insane slow boot-ups by switching to a Samsung 500 GB SSD. I'll just live with the other issues, but never again with HP Products. Don't really like paying ($$$$) for the privilege of having my intelligence insulted.

We needed a laptop that could support adobe pro and photoshop at a price we could afford and this was it. For some it may be to big but for graphics and gaming it is awesome.

I enjoy this PC very much. The specs are very nice, all the speed I need, plenty of storage, but I think I enjoy the design almost as much. Clean lines, nice finish, backlit keyboard. Love it.

Cons: No printed user manual, Windows 10, slow 1 TB HD WD blue 5400 RPM, (for this price HP should have included a 2TB or SSD), track pad finicky, only 4 USB ports, 1 SD port, battery drains within 3-4 hours (not as advertised), Wireless connection keeps dropping, slow download speeds (wired and wirelss), needed drivers updated. No actual software disks, no recovery disks, 1 page of setup instructions. Pros: 16 GB DDR3 RAM, Intel realsense 3D Camera, DVD+RW burner, 2 GB Nvidia 940m graphics card, touchscreen (if you're into that), i7-6500 6th gen. CPU

I returned the first Laptop due to the LED back lighting bleeding through too much in 4 places mostly but I was also receiving some display driver errors (failed/recovered). No problems at Best Buy with the return. I had the same error messages on the second Laptop. I was able to get Geek Squad quickly to fill out a report and 20 minutes later a Tech got on my Laptop remotely and ran some fix and clean up software. Took him 3 hours and the Tech kept in communication with me. He had me try a few things and I did not see the errors. 30 minutes after he got off I started getting the errors. While I am sure he helped/cleaned up a few things it is now looking like it might be an HP issue (or intel). I am also having issues with the HP Support Assistant not installing updates even after I uninstalled and installed the latest version of it. I did the thing where HP support calls you back like Best Buy but never got a call back or response. I manually went to their site and entered my Laptop to get the latest updates. Among them was a display driver to fix my display issue/error messages. All seems to be working and I love this Laptop.
