It has a huge screen which is good and bad. My hubby wanted the bigger screen since his eyes are bad. I find that it makes the laptop itself a little heavier. Overall, we both love our new laptops (we bought 2).

I purchased this computer as an upgrade for my workhorse laptop. I run audio recording software with multiple plugins at 192khz/64 bits without a glitch. The touch screen is well calibrated, graphics are incredible (Nvidia) and haven't had any real problems with Windows 10 other than developers that have not updated their software compatability. If you just need a laptop to browse the Web and run Office, this is a lot more computer than you need. But if you are a gamer or audio nerd, this can most likely handle what you need sufficiently. The only con is that it doesn't have a SSD.

Getting it set up was quick and simple. Start up is fast too. This computer is large and heavy (compared to my Sony laptop). Screen is descent and Beats Audio is good. It has crashed twice already (in one month). I like the keyboard, but at times there seems to be a lag. The CPU, networking, memory and drives appear to handle whatever I have opened. I like the extra software bundle that came with this HP, Cyberlink.

This is a very good, lower high end laptop. Computer runs very well. I had no issues while setting it up or since using it now for about 3 weeks, daily. I had concerns about the slowness including the boot up. I deleted most of the "Bloatware" and anything I didn't feel I wanted. I also turned off many of the boot up processes ( the the high usage ones for sure ). That made a big difference in the expected boot up and performance speed. I am happy with it now.

I have had this computer for over a month now. The large hard drive space allows me to store a good number of media flies. I like the fact that it has 16 GB of ram. I have multiple windows open and the speed is good. It is also windows 10, which I am still adjusting on how to navigate, but, it is not difficult. The touch screen is a nice feature. I purchased a screen protector and a skin key protector in hopes to extend the use of the laptop. I am still a mouse user. It has a feature with a 3D camera. I will have to play around more with it to see what it really does. The laptop has a nice look. I do notice that the outside can get marked up a bit due to the glossy finish. Overall, it is a good laptop. If you are not looking for large GB space, then you should select something with less space and save some money. The price dropped a $100 a few weeks after I purchased mines, so if you can wait, observe the pricing for a couple of months to what the pricing will be. A $1000 was a bit pricey, but I wanted a high-powered laptop and that is what I got.

Purchased it opened it used it LOVE it !!! its quick and easy to use sleek design its heavier than I thought it would be for being so thin but its exactly what I wanted. Screen size is perfect game play or surfing the internet. Love that it has 3 usb ports. Over all I have had it for just over a month and haven't had any issues and don't think I will. One of my best purchases this year ;)

This is a good computer. Most days it functions really well. Some days it goes a bit nutty. I will say that Windows 10 is not as intimidating as has been advertised. I really like this laptop as compared to my old one. It is much faster and clearer. I SKYPE just about every evening and the camera is so much better than my old one. I, most certainly, would recommend this laptop to everyone.

I love the 17" screen with the new windows 10. I runs smooth and start up is fast. Having 16 GB of ram is very nice. I had windows 7 but 10 has so many more whistles and bells. It also has back lit keyboard, just push the f5 key. If you like 3d games it can do that too. No blu ray player but you can always add an external player if needed. I am not disappointed in this computer.

This is a very good computer. I had to return the first one due to a problem with the graphics driver stopped responding constantly. The new one does the same thing on occasion. This seams to be a problem with other users as well. I'm sure an update to the drivers will hopefully come out soon to resolve this issue. Other than that this computer is fast and has great features.

Since we're older, we wanted 17" laptop & this HP Envy has been awesome. Also purchased GeekSqaud service & glad we did as couldn't access internet so called them within 2 hours of picking up. Seems the installed Windows 10 was lacking some drives & after a few hours it was righted. Overall VERY happy with the HP Envy, it's ease of use & LOVE the backlight keyboard!

I love the HP Envy. The touch screen is big and bright. Its fast and does what I need it to do. Except for the touch pad. So frustrating! Have to click several times and I get a message that says "inspect element" when I am trying to cut and paste. Takes several tries to get the copy or paste option. I bought a mouse after a couple of weeks and I am happy!

    HP Stuns Again

For the last year, I've been looking to replace my old HP Pavilion DV-7 series laptop. At eight years old, my beloved laptop was definitely a technological dinosaur, and numerous warnings about no longer receiving updates from just about every site I visited finally spurred me on. Why I hung onto an eight-year-old laptop is that it is, even now, perfectly functional (updates excluded). There have been no BSDs, no errors, no need to rollback drivers: it has performed beautifully. In fact, were it not for the fact that I accidentally spilled coffee on the keyboard and now have a sticking mousepad button, I probably wouldn't be writing this review just yet. Having now had two phenomenal experiences with HP laptops, I decided to stay brand loyal and look at reviews of their higher end laptops. One day, I even called HP customer service and asked to speak to someone knowledgeable about replacements. When I got the service department on the line, I asked them what model would be comparable to my cherished DV-7. The man didn't even hesitate: "Go with the Envy," he said. "You won't regret it." Indeed, all of the reviews I saw pointed to the Envy line as being the ideal laptop for a higher end Pavilion owner looking for a lateral move or even an upgrade. I went into my local Best Buy to look at one. They had an Envy there, one with Bang and Olufsen speakers, Nvidia GeForce graphics card, the works. The screen was incredibly crisp and clear, the keyboard deft and responsive and the overall weight of the machine light as a feather, at least compared to my little T-Rex. I liked it. I liked it a lot. When it got to the point that signing into any webpage meant guessing whether I'd have to use IE, Firefox or Chrome, depending on unavailable updates, I finally decided to take the plunge. This beauty arrived and overwhelmed me with its features. For one thing, even with Windows 10, it's actually readily customisable, with a choice of sign on features (Face Recognition or PIN), changing backgrounds, etc. For another, the backlit keyboard makes it easier in lowlight conditions to continue working, even if one is a QWERTY expert. The sound system in the Envy renders my external speaker system obsolete, as there's now no need to plug in an extra set to experience deep, rich bass notes. And despite my initial reluctance, I really, really like having the touchscreen option. It helps when annotating web pages and other items, of course, but it's also nice when streaming video or creating photo layouts. The best part about the Envy, though, is the heat reduction. I'm used to working with a lap desk, and let me tell you, even on the coldest of winter nights, I'd be sweltering under the continuous output of heat from the Pavilion. However, in spite of having the Envy directly on my lap and not on the desk, I am as comfortable as can be. It is barely noticeable weight wise, much less heat wise. I haven't had the Envy that long, so there are several more features I'd like to gush about but can't, as I haven't fully explored them. What I will say, though, is that this laptop is perfect for just about anyone, from the computer novice through to the high intermediate user. I'm sure that there are several programmers and computer nerds out there that would argue, but for someone like me, with more than a passing knowledge of computers--yet just a little intimidation at making reg edits or the like--this laptop is absolutely, one hundred percent perfect. I'm glad I made the decision. Now hopefully I'll get eight years out of this one, too!

I tried to limit my cost on upgrading to a newer computer by going with an Asus, but I was very disappointed. I exchanged the Asus for HP-Envy and ponied up an extra $200 to do so. I could not be more happy. The only negative is that it is not a very light computer. Other than that, it is fast, and everything I was looking for including built in disc drive and easy to remove battery if it ever needs to be replaced. Solid keyboard, great sound, and just an overall great computer.

I have put off replacing my Dell Laptop for quite sometime. I wanted to make sure that my next laptop would also last me just as long, along with providing me with some really nice bells and whistles, the HP Envy 17.3 did just that. I am really enjoying the large/touch screen and just how fast the processor is. Put one in the "win" column!!!

Got this laptop during the July 4th sale for my son. Compared to our previous laptops, this one is the fastest, no problem so far with gaming and my oldest son (whose into computers) said its the best price for the features the unit have. Happy and satisfied!!!
