I had to replace my 6yr old HP Pavilion laptop because it died. I did a lot of research prior to finding this one. I have had the laptop for a week and it works great. Fast processor and very easy to use. I did have a bit of an issue with the larger display. I went from a 15 inch laptop screen to the 17.3 inch but I love it. The touch screen feature is nice. The display is bright and colorful. The battery life issue many other reviewers have mentioned is a bit of a con but no big deal for me. The new Intel core i7 processor is very fast. The keyboard is easy to read and is not back lit. The touch pad is a bit sensitive and may take time to learn. I have no real complaints. The built in speakers work well as does the 3D webcam.

Had the specs I was interested in, but not a good machine. A different problem each day until finally the display went black. Returned! Felt that this was not a New computer but a Refurbished machine sold as new. This model is also sold on Amazon; BEWARE! it reads that it is refurbished; not new.

I bought this, needing a new computer. i was lured in by the huge screen, my faith in HP and the need of a computer ASAP. as soon as i turned it on it stayed on a blue screen for 4 days straight, could not turn it off. I took it back to the store and traded it for a MacBook Air.

I purchased this laptop and returned it the next day because the back light did not work. The unit was returned and I was able to get a good deal in that it was an opened box. I saved a couple hundred dollars, but I had to return it because of the back light.

I will never buy another HP product. Tech support kept hanging up on me and back of laptop broke off after only 2 months of light at home only use. Display still works with duct tape repairs, but laptop cannot be closed so I use another old one for travel.

After looking for a 2 and 1 laptop, I decided on this product what appeared to be easy to use. No where close to the truth. Many times I wanted to throw the laptop across the room. To date I have use tons of stress management to avoid such disaster.

I bought this Laptop on Thursday and returned It on Saturday. Needless to say I wasn't pleased. Wifi went out a few times, then it wouldn't update. Was giving hp a much needed second chance. So much for that. I'll be waiting for a Asus ROG laptop.

Touchpad SO bad I would not buy or recommend. Rarely processes what you are trying to open etc on first touch, sometimes you have to hit it. Never had laptop with this issue before and it is pain in neck. Would not recommend only for this issue.

This computer has by far exceeded my expectations. I use it for my home audio recording studio, and it's done a fantastic job so far. No glitches, no matter how many VST plugins I run on a project. I am also running 16 simultaneous tracks of drums (Superior Drummer 2.4), and zero latency has been detected. In order to have a really effective DAW, I plug the laptop into my 27" HDMI monitor, and I can see everything perfectly while leaving the lid closed, thus saving the computer and the screen from dust and wear. I'm buying the extended warranty tonight. I don't want all of my files to go missing in case of catastrophe. A couple of things that I do want to do is see if I can upgrade the PC to 32GB of RAM, and to see if I can get a 7200 RPM HDD put in it (if not a SSD). GREAT computer. GREAT price. I normally don't comment on other comments, but the previous person was WAY too nitpicky. The build is great, the finish is great, the battery life is quite good, and I am very impressed with this machine all the way around. Looking for a recording studio in your backpack, with twice the computing power as a mac, for have the price of a mac? This is it.

Unless you're into heavy gaming, this laptop is capable of doing just about anything you throw at it. The display is absolutely gorgeous. Watching HD videos on this laptop is a dream. Also, this is, hands-down, the coolest-running laptop I've ever owned. The only downside is that it is quite heavy, although at 17", that isn't exactly surprising. I would highly recommend this laptop for anyone wanting to do more than checking their email and light browsing. It's quite a powerhouse and a beautiful one at that! It's also surprisingly sleek, considering its size. I couldn't be happier with it.

Would be hard to be for the price. Starts up fast, excellent colors, easy to use Windows 10. I hated Windows 8. Keyboard size is perfect. The battery holds a charge for 3 plus hours, maybe longer. Very pleased with this laptop. Touch screen is a added bonus.

    It's a LOVE/HATE relationship

Overall this is a good purchase. Personally I have a few things that I HATE about this computer and some things I LOVE about it. HATE: The mouse pad is too big. I don't have small hands but it is difficult to control the mouse on this touch pad. there are no dedicated left and right mouse buttons either so you spend a lot of time clicking on what you think is the right area only to look down to see you are several inches off. CORTANA: Ugh...I know this isn't really a reflection on the computer itself, but it drives me nuts. It should be so much better than it is. My cellphone can pull up better results that this program can. Waste of space. Not up to date. When I brought this home the first thing I did was turn it on and watch as every icon on the screen was disfigured. I had to install new drivers (not automatically installed) just to get the thing operational. For being a newer computer I would think that something as basic as graphics would have been good to go. Freezes up when coming back from sleep. It takes a long time to wake up from sleep (well longer than I would like) and when it does the screen takes awhile to catch up. Many times I will fall asleep with netflix playing and when I wake to turn it off I have to wait 5 minutes or more for the screen to decide to be fully usable again. Automatic Windows Update - I don't care what anyone says Windows update is the biggest issue I have ever had with any computer and now with Windows 10 it takes a bit of digging to figure out how to disable it. Again, not really a reflection on the computer itself, but still frustrating. LOVE: Speakers and screen are amazing. Loud speakers, bright screen. Backlit display is pretty good - I wish there were settings to change the brightness Touch screen has been wonderful. I really like this addition to the laptop computer world and this HP model has had no issues with responsiveness. Charges really quick (yes it is only a few months old). Full charge is usually complete in less than an hour. Battery life can last for many hours depending on how heavy use you have it on (P.S. backlit keyboard drains a lot of battery, turn it off if you aren't using it). Well built. This is a sturdy computer. You can pick it up by the screen without worry, drop it from waist height, smash your fists on it in anger and it will still hold up. Yes I have done each of these things, and No, I do NOT recommend you try them yourself - but if you're gonna do it anyway it is a good computer that can take slight occasional beatings.

    First HP laptop purchase

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

My primary home laptop is a higher end 15 inch MacBook Pro. My work laptop is a Xeon based Dell Precision with insane specs. Both have solid state storage. I wanted a home Windows 10 box to do some development without breaking the bank. The HP Envy was the sweet spot. Setup was straight forward. HP includes some bloatware but its not too bad. I ran all the suggested patches and installed Office 2016. So far so good. I uninstalled McAfee and installed the free Norton security suite I get from my cable provider. No problems there. The glaring weak link is the 1 TB drive. Its painfully slow compared to SSD. I’m really surprised PC manufacturers still overwhelmingly prefer installing slow 5400 rpm drives. It really holds back the potential of the Envy’s decent but lower end 2 core 6th gen i7 processor and gobs of memory. However, once things are loaded into memory, response is adequate. The Envy in 17.3 inch form is quite a bulky laptop. Construction is fairly solid and you get plenty of USB ports. The keyboard is just OK. The backlighting works best when you stare directly down on the keyboard. At an angle (typical viewing), tons of light bleeds out from under the keys. Some keys have better lighting than others. MacBook Pro nailed this. HP Envy, not so much. Some of the keys are rounded off for styling purposes making them smaller and odd shaped. Overall I’m fairly satisfied with the purchase and would suggest it to friends looking for a large screen Windows based laptop. Kudos HP, nice package.

    A Customer's Perspectives On HP Envy m7-n0dx

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I am rather pleased with my recent purchase of the Hewlett-Packard Envy(model #m7-n0dx). Overall, I consider it an excellent notebook computer. I, of course, am not merely asserting this for the favorable reason that I had been coincidentally browsing this same PC's specifications just a few days prior, deciding whether or not to order it, and then found it offered on the "Deal of the Day" page at the deepest discount seen thus far. Aesthetically, this is a very handsomely designed model. One newer model is priced at a couple of hundred dollars above, even though it has precisely all equivalent functions. The higher priced model features an entirely "natural silver" coloring on both its keyboard and outer shell. That would be very nice, too. My already owned HP Envy 17j series PC has quite similar coloring. Nonetheless, I am indeed satisfied with this model's silver shell and black coloring around the keyboard. Incidentally, the keys on both models are silver and it is important that they are back-lit. Reading some other's reviews indicating complaints that its weight is a bit heavy is a fairly valid description, but still not an actually consequential issue. After all, this is to be expected, particularly of this type of computer. In fact, my other 17.3" HP Envy is slightly heavier. Of course, I would not suggest it be carried around with the same degree of mobility as an ordinary laptop. My only personal issue, which would also apply to nearly any modern PC, is that the Windows 10 version is preinstalled. The option of choosing or upgrading the Windows version at one's own discretion is rapidly becoming unavailable. I happen to be amongst those computer users not totally comfortable with Microsoft's so-called improved version of Windows. I think Windows 10 is somewhat interesting and useful, yet still leaves so much to be desired and resolved. Regardless, I've quickly become accustomed to utilizing Windows 10, while deciding on maintaining the flexibility to not update to this version of Windows on my other PC. As for my customer perspectives on the HP Envy(model #m7-n0dx), I certainly regard this notebook computer to be of high quality construction and considerations. Many of its aspects are loaded with absolutely excellent features. Its excellently sized screen has a brilliantly vivid display. Its built-in BANG and OLUFSEN speakers emit clear and dynamic audio. Within the few weeks in which I've been using this computer, the battery seems to last for a sufficiently reasonable length of time per charge, but I must candidly say that I do wish the battery's life would hold a charge even longer. An undoubtedly vital element is its capability to nearly instantly connect to Wi-Fi. There are literally too many features to describe in a customer review. The best way to truly understand this computer would be thru studying the manual, adjustment of the numerous settings to one's own respective preferences, and using it. I will close by stating that no light, moderate, or heavy internet user could possibly go wrong by choosing to purchase this HP Envy(model #m7--n0dx). I certainly recommend this product to fellow consumers, and hope my review proves helpful.
