Absolutely the Slowest Computer I have ever owned

I have a Laptop that is in with Geek Squad for repair. I decided to purchase a desktop in the mean time to allow me to get work done. I saw the monitor on this computer and decided it would be a good fit for what I do. once I got the computer home, I set it up, that was simple. Plug and play, very nice. Started configuring the computer with Office and my printers. I am now in my 14th hour of setup. The Hard Drive is so slow, and the computer not much faster that It makes it almost impossible to perform easy tasks. I write an email, wait 4-5 seconds for the email screen to come up, write it, attaching a file takes several minutes. I almost forget what I was doing in the delay time..... Why HP would create such a beautiful setup and allow it to be put on the shelf with such slow performance, I am shocked. then again I am not, that is why I have a Lenovo Laptop. this will be my last HP product.........ever.

Needs a SS HD! Great machine with a 5400RPM HD! What was HP thinking? It's noisy too. I will put a SS drive in and call it good...

A little on the slow side but by replacing the hard drive with a faster one and adding RAM it works great. Very reasonable price, Great look. I love it.

I was attempting to replace a 32" HP Envy QUAD paired with a 2012 Mac Mini. I haven't actually purchased a Windows machine in 6-7 years, as I typically am quite loyal to Apple. This was my choice as I prefer multiple monitors, but am trying to go simple with this setup. This gave me the most real estate and the Windows 10 snap features would make the 34" display very useful. I will be up front in saying, I am a SR Systems Engineer for a very large medical provider, I am quite spoiled on being on the bleeding edge of everything technology, however, SSDs aren't bleeding edge anymore and any computer over $650 can easily budget one in. With that being said, I haven't used a computer in 3 years that didn't have an SSD as it's primary OS drive. It absolutely blew my mind that this $1700 computer is running on a $50 (Retail, not wholesale) HDD. I can buy a 240GB SSD for $70 (Again, retail, not wholesale)... Ridiculous by the builders to have chosen this setup. Because of this, the first 24hrs with this machine is absolutely brutal, the disk stays @ 100% utilization until you go through and disable a few things, and everything finally completes it's back-end configuration. Second, the display out of the box has a column of dead pixels. I have had the machine less than 48hrs and when I signed on now to play a little more, it has another complete column of dead pixels a few rows over. So, 2 complete columns of dead pixels on a $1700 machine.. I understand things happen, but I expect QC to be better on something they claim to be "High-end". Third, the speakers are very poor. As I previously mentioned, I have the 32" HP ENVY Quad display, it came with Beats Audio speakers and they are fantastic. Obviously now that Apple owns Beats, their affiliation with HP ended, but Harmon Kardon would've been a better option or just higher quality speakers in general. Fourth, as others have mentioned, this Core i5 is easily taxed. I currently have a single chrome window open with 3 tabs on normal websites, and the proc is sitting @ 35-40%. The bottom line here, is that I will hang on to this machine another few days, maybe a week tops. After a few hours of use, my plan was to return this machine and bump to the next model up, with a Core i7 and an SSD for OS drive, but I think I will avoid HP altogether and go back to Apple. Hard for me to spend $2000 on a Windows machine, knowing I could get a 27" 5K iMac that will actually work and pass QC. This was just too disappointing.

I had to buy a new computer and looked at this one for half an hour It looks nice, but the hour glass time is very slow and the resolution is pixelated. it looks similar to mid range monitors from 2000. Give it more time. It really is not worth the money. Spend it on an architectural piece instead.

Have had it for 7 years and just purchased a MSI gaming laptop and will be using as a monitor with it. No issues whatsoever and was purchased at Best Buy #500.

Visually this system is very appealing. However, once putting this machine into everyday use I was great disappointed. System is slow, loud and, resets resolution after restart. Weak product slapped together on a visually appealing screen. Very disappointing.

This system exceeded expectations. The large, curved screen is very beneficial for programming, word-processing, etc.

LOUSY GS SERVICE (BUT GREAT MACHINE)

This machine is a beast, and I'm extremely happy with my purchase . But the reason it is only getting 1-star is that I purchased it on 6/1/2016 and I'm unable to get a GS Protection & Security Plus plan on the machine. At the store it states "no plan available:". I called GS 888#/800# 4 times and was told there is a plan, but I have to take the machine back to the store (which I'm not about to do). OK, I went back to the store 6/2/16 and same result "no plan available". I call the numbers again and they say there is a plan, but can't do it over the phone. The GS tech at the store says they can do it over the phone. RUN AROUND. The lady on the phone suggested that I return the computer and get something else so I can get the plan (SMH). Would I recommend the machine yes, but not if you want to get a protection plan on it from GS. You only have 14 days from date of purchase to do so. She said she sent a ticket to "corporate" Good luck hearing from them within 14 days. This is not the kind of experience I expect from BB/GS at all.

Horrible Computer & Worse Tech Support

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I had this computer for less than two weeks and it crashed hard. It would not reload the operating system as designed. HP sent me a flash drive with a new operating system, and even after following all instructions the computer was still not functional. I have been on the phone with tech support for two weeks now. Every person I spoke to contradicted previous technicians. They promised to repair the computer, never did, they promised to send me a new computer, never did. For the last two weeks I've had a $1,600 computer that is useless and no one at HP seems to have any idea how to fix the problem nor do they seem concerned that I have a two week old useless computer.
