After an accidental spill killed my old laptop, my research eventually landed me on this laptop. And I gotta say, as a student, this is some crazy good value. Pretty much any laptop nowadays can handle the basics (word editing, web browsing) but the Ryzen 7 in this thing let's me do some light video editing and gaming on the side. Nothing crazy, the lack of a discrete video card obviously limits the thing, but you can get away with some basic video rendering for projects and light weight gaming. The SSD in here also means startup rarely takes more than 5 seconds and is overall pretty fast. Other features like light up keyboard, finger print scanner, and buttons for disabling mic/camera are also very nice to have. Overall, gotta say that this laptop is probably perfect for other students and the best value you can get for under $1000 (if you find for $800, take it!).

I purchased this laptop on sale for $749.99 and it's been a fantastic value! The build quality is terrific and the touchscreen makes a ton of my workday tasks that much easier. I appreciate the webcam being a slightly higher resolution than most for the video calls I have to make.
Battery life is super long. I can usually go the entire day of work without having to plug it in.
I do wish the port selection was slightly better. Two Usb ports just doesn't cut it for me so I'm more than likely running an adapter which makes the setup a little less portable than I'd like. The keyboard also took a little while to get used to. The travel is perfect but the keys hug the edge of the deck so close it takes a little while to get used to.
Overall, I'd highly recommend, although maybe that at the full $949.99 MSRP.

All the features about this computer are great. This is great for a person who likes to fold their computer tablet style and for those who like touchscreens. I do recommend getting a laptop sleeve, a protective case, and a screen protector because the quality of the screen is a bit fragile. In my experience I had my laptop screen crack when it accidentally fell down on the ground. My laptop only had a laptop sleeve when it fell. Other than the quality of the screen this laptop is one of the best.

I can’t complain about this laptop except for how loud the fan is but that doesn’t bother me all the time. The laptop has a beautiful sleek design which I was looking for and it is very light weight. This laptop has been great, it handles everything I need to complete in a timely manner. I am usually running code on here, using oracle sql, notepad+, and more without any issues. The battery life is great as well. I haven’t used this laptop in the tablet mode too much to really talk about that portion but when I did use it it was very easy to use without any issues. The only issue I have experienced was the track pad being delayed recently.

I decided to buy this laptop for my 10 year old son instead of a Chromebook, so he can do his schoolwork on it and also play some games that require a little more processing and GPU power. Looks and built quality are amazing.
The screen is not the best nor brightest I've seen, but it's absolutely adequate for work, gaming and some casual photo or video editing. I also like that it is a touch screen.
The cooling fan has a hint of PWM whine, which I found annoying at first, but it's not so bad to become a deal breaker for us. Over time the brain just filters it out, and it is really only noticeable in an otherwise very quiet environment.
The keyboard takes a little getting used to due to the added numeric key pad, which is undoubtedly a big plus for some people, but it requires to position your hands off center and to the left, in order to type proficiently. Working on a MacBook Pro on a daily basis, I find the force required to push a key is a little on the heavy side, but it feels tactical and consistent, even if the key is hit on the edge.
Battery run time appears to be pretty good as well. I haven't had a chance to run a full test, but I see my son using it unplugged for hours on end. A big plus is that it can also be charged over the USB-C port, in case you leave your power supply at home, as my son managed to do when the two of us went on a short road trip. We were able to share my Mac's PSU.
The fingerprint sensor works flawlessly and fast and the touchpad is also on the better side of what I've tried in this price range.
Overall this is an impressively powerful machine that handles almost anything you throw at it with ease.

Love the laptop and definitely one of the best laptops to get around the price pount! (Got it on sale at $750). Performance is wonderful, battery life is one of the best I've ever experienced on any laptop with average at least 8+ hours of light usage. The keyboard is great with a great mouse trackpad. The only complaint I can think of is the screen only gets bright at 250-300 nits. Not the brightest and definitely will realize it is dull. Its not noticeable indoors but the moment you have a window open right by the laptop or sunlight nearby, you'll wish for a tad brighter of a screen. Great laptop overall!

This is an excellent purchase, in terms of performance/value ratio, arguably the best purchase I've ever made.
The laptop is powerful, quiet and has a decent screen (only 1080p) and nice form factor. It's now my favorite laptop - another laptop I regularly used before purchasing this one is a Dell XPS 9560 with Core i7 7700HQ. I travel with a Zenbook Flip 13 or MacBook Air. I prefer the HP Envy X360 over all those. I use the laptop for multiple purposes - audio/video content generation, general data analysis and teaching Zoom class with the laptop serving as a whiteboard. It does everything excellently. Of course if you need to run heavy-duty tasks, a powerful desktop will still leave any laptop in the dust.
Updating the ram amount to 32 GB went relatively smoothly. After the updating, the laptop refused to power up. Pressing the power button for 30 seconds solved the problem. Even though the machine has no problem running at the 3200 MHZ speed, it seems that the motherboard can't run at the 18 cas latency which the DRAM I bought was capable of. The bios has very limited options; so if you're thinking of updating the memory, you may want to save yourself some money by buying DRAM with 22 cas latency.
Using OneNote as whiteboard is very smooth. I didn't even have to buy a new pen - the one that came with my Zenbook Flip 13, an active pen, worked like a charm. If you write a lot like I do, you might want to consider buying one of those artist glove, costing you only a few dollars.
I also have had no issue using the laptop to drive 2 different brands of 34" monitors. I'm looking at one right now.
Overall, a great buy. Even after you invest a little more for 16 or 32GB memory. You'll need those additional RAMs to unleash the true potential of this laptop.

Purchased this computer after doing quite a bit of research and comparing a number of different brands. My daughter is not pursuing a major that requires the ability to download advanced software and she is not into gaming so this computer had the core processor, memory, speed, battery life, screen size, etc. that should suit her well throughout her entire college career. It was also priced very reasonably. I was also very impressed with the advice I received from multiple Best Buy representatives both by telephone and in the store.

Make sure to get Ryzen 7 inside not i7. You get better performance while save $$.
This became my main notebook and my desktop is getting dust.
The best way to see is to get one. Thank you HP & AMD!!

Overall this computer is fast and has everything you need. Very impressed with the look, but it is a bit heavy. The touch screen is great.
The power button is in a weird location, mixed in with the other buttons across the top but I knew that going into it.
I did have to have the laptop replaced because the mic wouldn't work and Geek Squad wasn't able to fix it. Best Buy quickly ordered us a new one that was delivered to my house in 2 days.

A well-made (quasi) business-grade laptop excellent for Home/office use.
The chassis is metal, which lends itself to the laptop being on the heavy side; which has the net effect of also distributing the heat more effectively.
On that subject, this processor runs very hotly -to the point of being almost too warm to work on your lap for more than short periods of time.
The base 8GB of memory is just barely adequate for windows 10, I bumped it up to 24GB by adding a 16GB module which in combination with the Ryzen 7 Processor made it "scream" for day-to-day operations.
Note, if you plan on increasing the memory it is advised that you plan on scrapping the rubber feet (the chassis screws are underneath) and purchasing new 3rd party ones prior to the swap. There is no good way to remove them without completely destroying them. Added Bonus the x360 will take up to 64GB DDR4 memory for future expandability.
The screen is clear and refreshes quickly. In tablet mode, the unit is again heavy but responsive, especially if you use a rechargeable stylus.
The unit is typically used in a home office setting with upwards of 20-30 tabs open at any given time (Chrome, Edge) along with MS Office applications and a few mind mapping programs.
I moved away from HP for a while, but feel confident that the Envy series is on par with and or better than the best laptops from Lenovo and Dell.
Overall an excellent laptop value (a bit more expensive than competitors) well worth the cost of purchase.

This laptop knocks the socks off competitors. The 2 in 1 capabilities is amazing and effotrless. The processor combined with graphics is exactly what I was looking for. Although it takes a bit of effort to open the lid and flip it, the hinges will ease up over time. The build quality is exactly what I was looking for. Snappy, long battery life and the list goes on. Best purchase i have made in a long time

This is a nice computer, a little higher end than I normally would buy, but a good system. It is light and easy to transport around. The screen is really good and responds well to my touch. The speed is great for the work I do - I am a power user so I often have multiple applications or browser tabs open at the same time. The battery lasts a long time before requiring a charge.

Every bell and whistle one could want...and its a quality product. I personally have never owned a unit with anything other than, "INTEL Inside".....that being said, you cannot argue the new Ryzen 5 & 7 are out clocking the Core I5 & I7, respectively. So, I took the chance after months of research and searching and decided I would go with an AMD processor. I had actually decided to go with the Ryzen 5 version of this HP ENVY 360 model...but, I happened to walk into a Best Buy store that was closing down soon and caught this model's display on sale for $700, (retail is what $950 and the Ryzen 5 model new was $799), suffice to say I grabbed it and am extremely happy with the purchase thus far. I only gave it 4 stars as I have not had enough time to truly put it through its paces, but it has surpassed my expectations at every turn thus far....will update soon.

Purchased this after comparing many similar in price and features. Settled on this on mainly due to quick availability and the touch screen. I wasn't sure I would use the touch screen, but have found it very useful.
The Ryzen 7 processor is very fast, and can handle most things I've thrown at it. Have yey to try gaming, but everything else has been fast and responsive.
I did install more RAM. The configuration I have includes twoo ram slots and it is possible to upgrade pretty easily if you have the correct tools.
Battery life is excellent when in power saver mode, and the laptop is nice and light and easy to transport.
My only real complaint would be no thunderbolt connection (ryzen thing) and could use more USB ports. I've got my eye out for a docking station to solve that problem though.

This is easily the best laptop I think at this price. I got this as a sale of $250 off from the $950 price. It's very fast and you can easily work with multiple applications very easily. Boot time is very fast. The audio is excellent. I played Asphalt 9 in it with the highest graphics setting. It was flawless! I run several heavy programming IDEs in it and all of these applications started very fast. I am really satisfied with this laptop and would easily recommend this to anyone. It is not only excellent value but I think you get almost $1300-$1400 range laptop at this excellent price point. AMD's Ryzen 4700u is super fast and its built-in graphics is very good. 512 SSD is good enough for your day to day task. Overall, a highly recommended product and an excellent choice.

HP ENVY Touchscreen - LOVE!!

I LOVE this new HP!!! My old laptop needed to be replaced, old being the key word. It was 11 years old and parts were no longer made for it. I never had a problem with it, and it too was an HP, so I knew I wanted to stick with the HP brand. This laptop is amazing. The speed alone, from off to online in about 5-6 sec (and we run our internet off a dish). I love the features, and the touchscreen as well as the keyboard which will light from low to high. Worth every penny. I am actually going to purchase one for my daughter. And because it is an HP brand, I am confident in its quality. After all, I never had a problem with my old one until it became a paperweight 11 years later.

This is computer is soooo awesome!! Purchased for my 14 yr. It has definitely surpassed any reservations I had regarding AMD. Touch screen is responsive, navigation is seamless, and the speed is out of this world. I didn't think my own computer was that old until I used my daughters and quickly noticed the difference.
Used for homeschooling and regular teenage use such as streaming music, shows/movies, and light gaming.
Only compliant was the lack of colors but she covered with stickers promptly.
