Extremely Fast, Great display, and solid device. The track pad is very interesting though... Like HP was trying to do a little too much with it. But soon as I got a wireless mouse that solved the problem. Also had some odd issues with the device losing internet signal. However soon as that was worked out, this thing is smooth like a like an E class Benz.

So, the screen, touch screen response, body and hinge of this laptop have all been great. It's quick and works well. The big problem is that the Touch pad is AWFUL. It starts slow, it's jumpy after a reboot, and sometimes, after the laptop wakes from sleep, it just becomes so jumpy its unusable. Apparently this is a know issue online. I updated every driver on the HP website. The problem carried over from windows 8 to 10. It's unfortunate become the rest of the machine is great.

This laptop is good loaded with features. Keyboard is really nice to type and is also backlit. Touch screen is good. Sound is excellent. Battery is mediocre. There were minor scratches when i bought the laptop as it was Refurbished one.
It has been been over 2 months now and I am facing difficulty in closing the screen. Something is wrong with the screws i believe. Couple of screws came out from the bottom of the laptop. Planning to take to the Best Buy store to get the Geek Squad people check it.

It has its niche

The good:
For the price it has a fast CPU, Nice display and a good amount of memory for a touchscreen device.
The not so good:
Without a DVD/CD port, you have to run (or install) such things from an ISO image, networked drive or downloaded replacement. Have a plan on how you are going to install the software that you want to use on it.
The 802.11ac card intermittently failed to be backward compatible with a 802.11n network (which according to the standard it should have no problem). Swapping out the internal wireless unit with one from an older model (and installing the related drivers) made it work with my network until I upgrade the router to "ac". Until "ac" becomes the more used wireless type, or they improve the wireless unit, you shouldn't count on this connecting *reliably* at the coffee shop.
So, for those with the expertise and forward plan (a niche market), this is the perfect unit for the price.

Since this item was "Geek Squad Certified" I was hoping that it would work perfectly right out of the box even though I had seen some poor reviews for other refurbished laptops. While the laptop had some cosmetic damage that I was willing to live with, unfortunately it also had a defective touchpad that had to be replaced. The evaluation and repair process took about two weeks to complete. While the price on this unit was great, I am disappointed that it had to be returned for a hardware issue that I would assume gets tested during the certification process.

Very clean and neat, you would never guess this is a refurbished product. The touch screen works beautifully and the computer itself runs very, very smooth, and that's with an i5! The only downside to the lap top is the touch pad mouse is very touchy and finicky. I would definitely recommend getting wireless mouse, because the touch pad on the mouse will drive you insane.

I would recommend the HP Envy TouchSmart to anyone looking for a good well built laptop at reasonable price. This laptop was refurbished but there was hardly any evidence of past use when I received this product. The front facing camera isn't the greatest but you probably won't use it often. The Beats Audio speakers provide acceptable audio quality. The touch screen is great for navigating Windows 8 or Windows 10. Especially if you don't have a mouse. Battery life is generally in the range of 3-5 hours depending on what you are doing. Overall this is a great product.

For those not tech savvy with all the new iPads, SmartPhones, etc and just use Windows 7 on a laptop/PC, Windows 8 will be a MAJOR SHOCK to your mentality!
Win 8 is SO DIFFERENT from Win 7, that you had better be mentally and physically ready to commit to spending dozens of hours (at least) learning your new operating system as Win 8 in NOTHING even close to Win 7! I switched from Win 97 - Win 7 from 1997-2011 with no issues. But Win 8 is a WHOLE NEW SPECIES!
Computer sales sites should put a note like this for anyone shopping for a Win 8 system.

It says "geek" certified but I doubt. Mouce pointer of touchpad started flickering the very first day. I tried to update the drivers, but seems like drivers are up-to-date. Something must be wrong with the hardware. I am going to return this thing.

So I ordered the refurbished product and it arrived quickly, as I paid for express shipping. Got everything set up and noticed that I was not a fan of the singular bar that they had for the touch-pad mouse. I believe that it supported 4 functions left/right click and tow others that I did not care to find out. The demons/poltergeists that follow me around really came out when I made attempts to play audio files. When I would play something on youtube any audio file I would hear some sort of fax machine type of sound or hear white noise with strange sounds. I understand that this was a refurbished machine but these issues should have been fixed before being sent out again. I will not order another HP product and ended up purchasing a brand new Toshiba Satellite that I absolutely love.

After looking for several months for a good deal on a higher end computer I found one. The Geek Squad certification went a long way into my decision to buy. After an initial glitch in installing Windows 10 the manager of my local store had me bring it in and Geek Squad took care of it.

The touch screen did not work right out of the box. Took it to the store to Geek Squad and they couldn't figure it out either. So I would not recommend refurbished. On a good note...shipping was fast, Geek Squad staff was very friendly, and the store return was quick and easy.

The laptop is excellent, but has a terrible problem with the mouse touchpad. It doesn't work very well, jump, click and opens pages by itself, uncontrollable. Looks like that problem can't be solved according Geek Squad. I returned this laptop.
