This is a great laptop for the price! Period!!. I was looking for a decent laptop with some muscle for less than $800 and this by far fit the bill. For starters, the 8gb of ram, the 750gb harddrive, and the i5 processor, give this laptop the muscle that I was looking for. I run multiple programs at once with no problem at all. Windows 8, however, was a little buggy and some programs that I previously owned did not work as smooth. I recently updated to Windows 8.1 and so far it's running great, havent had a problem yet. This laptop is very thin and the display is quite crisp and vibrant. I purchased this model as a Geek Squad certified Refurbished and I have no regrets at all. It came in a sealed package, and you couldn't tell the difference from a brand new one. It didnt even have a fingerprint on it. I was always leery about purchasing anything refurbished, but from my own experience buying something refurbished from either the manufacturer or from geek squad, they usually stand behind it with the same warranty as a brand new one, and the best part about it is that I saved about $200 buying it refurbished. It's worked great right out of the box for about a month now. The backlit keybooard, is nicely laid out and the touchpad (which I dont really use that much, I prefer an external wireless mouse) seems to work well. Now for the not so great------ the battery life is about 3 and a half to 4 hours, which a bit below average this day and age. Most higher end laptops get alot more than that. Another small inconvenience is that if you use an external mouse, like I do, and your right handed, the CD rom tray is on the right side, as is the power port, so it can get a bit crowded on the right side. Other than those small things, this is a great laptop at a great price.

I use this computer for work and it is plenty fast. Can't speak to gaming, but I like that it is slim, light, and has good processing speed. Since it was referbished, it was at the same price as a similar new laptop I bought a few months ago that turned out to be junk. Starts up quick and easily handles several applicaitons at once.

I purchased two of these laptops which were supposedly "certified geeksquad refurbished. Yea I saved a little money but......NEVER AGAIN! it's going on three years now and the mother board crapped out on one of them. Then find out that the geek squad technicians overtightened some of the screws and broke the anchors on the top cover. Now it's out of warranty and it needs a new top cover. My advice....buy new and hope you never have to deal with geeksquad

I saw this exact computer on the official hp website for more than 800 dollars and was able to get it a little over half the amount. This is a amazing computer and this price lets you be able to afford it and actually experience it without almost spending 1, 000 dollars

I bought this as a secondary pc to do a little web development and prototyping work outside the home. It's quite fast for a laptop and seems to be perfect for my needs. I'm not a fan of Windows 8, but the apps I need don't work on ubuntu so I'm stuck with it for now.

My only issue was that the laptop arrived with Windows 8 and I loaded some software before upgrading to 8.1. When I went to do that, I could not connect to the Microsoft store. I had to reset the laptop and then do the upgrade which meant I had to re-load the software I had done before.

comes with windows 8 but u get free upgrade to 8.1 fyi leave it plugged in while upgrading, take maybe 3hrs. looks much better than pictures show on website, had it 2 months so far absolutely no problems or hiccups, very fast, screen looks awesome not to much glare, "beats" speakers have very good sound, love the light up keyboard. I have nothing bad to say about the actual laptop ...windows 8.1 is another story. I heard so many complaints about windows 8.1, after using it for a while its not as bad as people say, like anything new it takes some getting used to, what I don't like is windows 8 keeps changing my default web search from Google to Bing or yahoo & keeps changing my default media player to Xbox media player, ive made google my default, deleted bing & yahoo & it still keeps coming back!! it is annoying.

The transition to my new computer was easy and getting the new virus software was nice. It is a lot lighter in my lap! My other computer is about 2 years old, but ran out of storage because of all the big programs mostly, not my data. I wish it didn't have Windows 8.1 though, that is obnoxious to get around! It is much faster, too.

This is the 4th laptop I have owned and my first HP. I have to say I think it's the best laptop I have ever owned. It does have some little quirks such as it will stop connecting to my wireless router on it's own at times. But it preforms very well and that's the only issue I have had with it. It has great sound when listening to videos or music thanks to Beats Audio it's equipped with. I love the integrated fingerprint reader which you can use to log on instead of typing in a password and the Brushed-aluminum finish as it doesn't show fingerprints. It's also got a great picture with vibrant colors. HP by far has a better product than the other laptops I have owned by some of their competitors.

Laptop works well, everything seems fine however, be aware of the audio! Although it comes equipped with beats audio which is awesome, volume tends to swing a lot! Very disappointing especially since one of the main reasons why I got it was because of the audio feature. Apparently HP has no solution for it yet.

I bought this laptop last year for my first year of law school. It has performed above my expectations consistently ever since. The backlit keyboard is one of the most useful features that you didn’t know you needed until you have it. In addition, the fingerprint scanner, which saves passwords and login information, save a significant amount of time logging into various websites and programs. The display is beautiful and crisp and the sound from the BEATS speakers is incredible, you wouldn’t believe that is from a laptop. The battery life is exceptional, having owned my laptop for over a year now, the battery still lasts around 9 ½ hours without a charger connected. The brushed aluminum finish is a nice touch as well. I would definitely recommend this laptop to anyone who needs a lot of processing power and wants to keep their information secure!

I bought the re-furbished version from BestBuy @544 $ including taxes and product delivered on time and in excellent condition. Can not notice a thing wrong so hats off to GeeksSquad. The laptop at this price is excellent. Great performance, breezing fast, watching movies was fun. Battery life I need to check more before commenting. Good value for money is what I would say.

I purchased this notebook in March of 2013 to replace an older HP notebook. I was impressed with the build quality and display. This notebook worked great up until a month ago. I awoke one morning to the smell of burning plastic. I immediately noticed it was my notebook and unplugged it from it's charger. I call HP who had me send it to their warranty service department for warranty repair. 10 days later I get a call from HP. They leave a message informing me that the damage was cause by liquid, and I would have to pay $692.00 for a replacement. I called customer service back immediately to inform them the notebook has never seen a drop of moisture while in my possession. I demanded to see pictures of what they claimed to be evidence of moisture damage. They elevated my claim to a HP AMS TCO Escalations Team Manager . The T.M called while I was at work (I am an active duty service member) and after greeting me when I answered, TM asked if I was currently active duty. I said yes,. I asked if that was an issue? T.M Replied no, it changes things though. He then said my claim was a mix up with the service department, and that H.P. Would be sending me a new laptop with some free upgrades for my trouble. I can not help but to think that H.P. Intended to railroad me before learning I was a solider. Doing the right thing should not depend on a person's employment status.

I bought this computer new 8 months ago. Since then the LCD screen is white, and the hard drive is dead. I was contacted by customer service that I would be receiving it soon. Two days later I am contacted and told it will be 350.00 because of accidental damage. There was no accidental damage. The bezel started breaking off from opening and closing. Then the screen went white. Very disappointed and will never purchase anything HP again.
