I LOVE my new printer! I hadn't gotten a new one in at least five years, and this one is so much faster than my previous laser printer. It is also so FAST. I think that the cartridge will make it more economical for me to print multiple copies (say 100 or so) of programs, etc. at home, rather than spending five cents a page to copy them at a UPS or FedEx store. It is also very clean - no ink on my hands when installing the cartridge, and the paper tray keeps the paper nice and clean too. I only wish that it came with a classy looking cover! I am using a scarf to keep the dust out. You'll love this printer!

This is the second printer I installed for my small business and it is a workhorse of a printer. When you press print it starts printing and it prints very fast. We print thousands of pages per week and it just keeps going. Bought the first one over 2 years ago and had no problems.

This printer was easy to set up. It had the USB cable provided but I chose to use the network connection instead so the printer could be used by all of the computers & tablets that connect to my network. Loaded the provided CD and had the printer working in about 10 minutes.
Print quality is excellent - as expected of an HP product.

Newer HP laserjets are not the same as 10 or 15 years ago. But, this model is about as close as you are going to get to the old-style workhorse laser jet printers from HP. Sturdy, fast and gets the job done. It won't last 15 years like some of the older ones do, but it will probably get you 5-7 years if you are nice to it.
The 401n is the network model (comes with a network card in it so you can share it on your local network) and the 401dn is the duplex and network model (duplex allows you to print on both sides of the paper).

HP finally has reasonable packaging - used to have small pieces and tape everywhere. This was easy to unpack and driver was easy to find. Excellent value for the quality and speed it delivers.

We use this for our swim club's swim meets. It prints fast and easy to use. We use it for reports and labels for awards. Not sure how long the ink last just yet, only had it for a month.

This is a very good printer. It's quick and the print quality is excellent. The overall physical feel, however, is that the plastic paper tray feels as though it won't last long. I'm very hopeful that it will though. It is a great value for the dollar.

Purchased this printer to replace a failing HP printer that was 15 years old. Glad I did. It was easy to setup, it automatically installed. Print quality was great and very fast.

This is my second LaserJet Pro 400 I own. One in the office and one at home. It's fast, prints well, have not had a single jam. Got it for $169 which was a great deal.

Good quality printer that fits my needs. However, if you need to print special paper such as 25% cotton, you should use the feeder instead of the tray, because the paper will jam if the tray is used when you use special paper.

Our previous HP died after a few years and we needed to replace it. This is essentially the updated version of the one we had. We print about 1000 pages a month and these little HPs are troopers. When I bought this I thought it could connect itself to the wifi here, but it looks like it needs some other device to make that happen. Also no USB cord was included so plan to grab one if you don't have one already. Fast setup to windows 8.1. No issues after about a month of owning it.

Prints fast, doesn't jam, and dont have to worry about buying all of the ink. Uses a toner cartridge that lasts over 3000 copies.

I decided on the HP-LaserJet Pro M401 Network ready black and white printer. I was contemplating the Color version of the same printer but decided that the technology was not yet good enough. The single drawback is that this version is not a wireless version and requires a Hard Wired connection. So I had to free up a port on my high speed line (1MB/s) and plug that in, it worked like a champ first time out of the box. My other concern was cost of the print toner and how long it lasted. I am still working on my first toner (7,000 pages) so I cannot comment on that detail yet, but they are relatively inexpensive (under $35.00) but the print quality is great!

I replaced my old, solid as a rock, HP 4+ Laser Jet printer because it was just about impossible to connect it to my new PC and network. It was so fast an easy to set up the M401 I thought I must have made a mistake. Very fast printing and ease of use make this printer one to consider when it comes time to retire an old workhorse.

Replaced an older hp that no longer had drivers available for win8. Maybe I just got use to slow and the occasional smudge. But so far this printer is light years ahead of my old workhorse. Hopefully it will last 10 yrs too.

This black and white is quick, easy to use, easy to set up and lasts much longer than those cartridge type printers.
