Right out of the box the HP Office Jet Pro 8120e Series was so easy. I got this set up and had no problem at all. The printer told you what to do and the app you download set you up with everything needed to do. This was so simple. Love the fact that it was all touch screen on the printer, this made everything so easy. I got the ink cartridges loaded, that was super easy as well, they pop in so easily. I have had others that were pretty hard to click into place. It's labeled so that you know exactly where to put each color, it took just a minute to do. Very fast and easy to do the ink. I love that I can be anyplace and find something that I want to print and it will send to my printer. I was not home, found a recipe and had a friend send it to me, I was able to send it to the printer and when I got home it was printed and waiting for me. Technology is amazing. I have to say that this printer is fast and quiet. The last printer that I had was really loud and seemed like it took so long to print out two sided items. This HP Office Jet Pro 8120e is super fast and very quiet. It still bothers my cat, but if she is down the hall she doesn't come running. If she is in the room she runs to it. I think that she thinks it's an intruder. She stares at it and jumps as if she will attack it, quite funny to watch. I am very happy with this printer. The quality of the pages is amazing. everything is evenly printed and looks wonderful. You will not be unhappy with this HP Office Jet Pro 812e, I can tell you that I am not. It's going to get so much use. I must say that I do like the HP products, they never fail for us.

I've used HP printers in my home office for more than a decade - all with very good results. I chose this new unit based on size and features. It is a decent sized printer that holds a sufficient amount of paper that also includes the scan bed and scan feeder functions that are important on the occasions when I need them. Setup out of the box was straight forward. There was little to do with the physical setup, other than to unpack, remove a couple pieces of tape, and insert the ink cartridges that came with the printer. I began the installation process with the touchscreen and then scanned the QR code on the touch screen that led me to download the mobile app on my phone to complete the install process. Because I already have an HP printer on my network, the process was familiar and it was also convenient to not have to re-enter my WiFi network details. After a few minutes of setup, it printed a setup page that it then instructed to place on the scan bed to test the printer alignment. That was easy enough - and setup was complete. The print quality is good, the speed is good, and the overall usability is good. It is easy to place a document on the scan bed and make copies - or to scan. I prefer to use the HP Smart app on my laptop to initiate scans, also using the scan feeder to feed multiple pages to be scanned into a single document. That way I can save the scanned document on my laptop. I look forward to many years of service from this unit.

Got stuck in a software update after 2 uses. HP wanted payment for tech support. Thank goodness for Best Buy membership, they replaced it immediately

The magenta ink cartridge seid it was out of ink. They asked me to return the whole printer, dumb.

My pictures are not clear. Im regretting my purchase. I'm very disappointed in this purchase and I love Best Buy.

HP wants to be paid to fix a problem with a brand new printer

I am a little conflicted about this printer, to be honest. The printer ITSELF seems good, but HP as a company really makes their presence known while working with this printer and it's a little uncomfortable. For instance, right when you're done with setup, you get forced to make a choice: whether or not you want this printer to be HP+ or not. If you make the printer HP+, you get additional services such as a longer Instant Ink trial or a free extra year of warranty or additional print settings, but in exchange you have to keep the printer connected to the internet forever and your ability to buy third-party ink is restricted. If you lose internet for a long enough time, for instance, it'll stop printing. I'm glad they allow you to choose whether or not you want to opt-in to this, but it seems a bit heavy-handed. On the other hand, HP also offers their Instant Ink subscription as well as a paper subscription - they ship you ink cartridges and/or paper, and it's good for however many prints per month, some prints can get rolled over, and they just send you more ink whenever it's needed. The pages-per-month tier you pick doesn't care about if you're printing color or black and white. You also get the opportunity to accept trials of these at the end of printer setup. I ended up accepting the ink trial. Anyway, the point is, this is very definitely a "smart" printer, with all of the pros and cons of smart devices. A whole lot of convenience is on the menu, but you may not like the data security implications of your printer talking with the cloud so much. Moving on to the actual, physical device; it honestly seems pretty solid. I am slightly annoyed that you have to do the initial setup through the app, but after dealing with that it worked pretty well. My wireless network at the time was experiencing some issues, so I couldn't get the printer hooked up to Wi-Fi correctly and just plugged it into Ethernet. It has not had an issue with this. There IS a USB connection at the back you can use to connect it to your computer directly. I know this printer also has Wi-Fi direct (I turned it off), and I believe I saw Bluetooth in the settings menu. Speaking of the settings menu, the touchscreen isn't horrible to use. Typing on such a small screen is never fun, but it's not extra-awful in any way, which is nice. The scanner works pretty well. I haven't had issues with it. It does what it's supposed to, and while I can use the HP app I've found that it also works with the Windows Fax and Scan app. Printing just seems to work on pretty much everything, which is nice - it showed up as a network printer from my work phone without me even having to install anything, and it worked on the first try; and it takes about six clicks total from the desktop to add it to any Windows computer I may happen to need to access it from. The print quality is good as well - the colors come out right, and I haven't seen any smearing or whatever. I haven't had to fight with this thing to print, which is honestly amazing because I *always* have to do troubleshooting. Overall I like the actual, physical device. It's been pretty user-friendly. I'm a little more skeeved out by the looming presence of HP, though, so you should definitely be aware of that before you purchase this printer. If you hate your things talking to the cloud, run away - this isn't for you. If you like it or don't mind it, then I believe this would be a decent choice.

WEll, Set up was difficult until I discovered the Printer does not operate on the 6ghz band so no communication. I reconnected my phone to the 5ghz band and set up was a breeze at that point. Scanning the QR took me to printer set up which also included setting up for the Instant Ink Program which also gives you 3 months Free Instant Ink. I also received a email a few days later from HP that my regular replacement cartridges were shipped and on their way. The printing speed is decent. The colors for pictures, graphs etc... looked professional due to dedicated individual ink cartridges so all colors are in separate cartridges and no longer micro managed in 2 cartridges. One thing I find on most newer generation printers, when switching from letter size paper to a envelope for example, it does not auto switch when changing the paper. You will receive a mismatch paper size error. You literally have to tell the printer when your switching sizes. So the printer knows you've switched sizes but wants you to make the physical change to accomodate. Still HP does make solid reliable products. They do not wotk on the 6ghz band or at the least that was my experience.

I have been an HP printer customer for a long time. Printers have come a long way. In the case of the HP Officejet 8125e HP is continuing to keep me as a customer. I sometime ago decided it was required for me to have an all-in-one printer. You can buy separate devices for scanning and printing, but I don't know of a copier for the home. This does them all. And does them well. It's a bit quieter than my older printer as well. The screen is not too bad, but the app for my phone is a really refined experience to control and customize the interface. It also makes managing the service membership for ink easy. And let me tell you, the instant ink service is another reason I stay with HP. I have been using the mail service for several years and it's actually been refined and streamlined during that time. This printer comes with three months of complimentary service also, so if you have never used it, you can try it out. Overall this printer is solid, prints, copies, and scans really well and easily.

The HP Officejet Pro 8125e Printer may be the first Inkjet printer I will use for daily home-office printing in over 10 years. Previously, I had restricted most printing to LaserJet printers, specifically one color and two monochrome models, because I had the impression that the cost per page was less, and that alone was reason to use Laser. However, I then saw the output quality from this printer and compared it with my LaserJet printings of the same pages. It was no contest; the Officejet 8125e output looked significantly darker, more vibrant, and more visually appealing than anything a LaserJet I owned could produce. With photo paper, I printed a full-page photo from my iPhone using the Best quality setting, and the image filled the entire page with no margin or border. It looked better than some prints we’ve had printed in the past from photo print shops. Additionally, someone sent me a PDF, and I printed two pages of it (one page, double-sided) on both the LaserJet and this Officejet. Once I saw both together, it was easy to see the quality difference, as described in the first paragraph here. I signed up for the subscription ink package from HP, which sends ink to me in advance of when I need it. I initially took the three-month free trial that was offered, along with the default 100-page/month plan. If I maximize the plan, it will cost me approximately 8 cents per page for the first 100 pages and an average of 15 cents per page thereafter. To me, that is better than the cost of buying four separate ink cartridges and having to remember to check when they’re running low. I’m not entirely sure if it’s cost-effective, but it’s convenient. If you sign up for the program included in the setup and continue to use HP brand Ink, you can print from any Internet-connected device, anywhere. So, if you’re on the road and want to have a document or photo waiting for you in the printer when you return, you can do that. I believe there is no additional cost beyond purchasing HP ink and possibly agreeing to the terms and conditions associated with an HP account. This also incentivized me to use the subscription HP ink program, because over time, if I were buying ink myself, I would likely purchase generic ink, possibly without even thinking about it, which would eliminate this functionality if detected. The printer is Duplexing, which means you can print on both sides of the paper automatically (assuming this setting is enabled in the print settings on the device from which you are printing). This is beneficial for both the environment and your wallet, as it reduces paper usage and associated costs. When I set up the printer, I appreciated how it automatically aligned the printheads without requiring me to select the best output. Instead, you take the sample output it generates, put it on the scanner, and let it align itself. Much less stressful than what I was used to doing with inkjets in the past. I’d recommend this printer for home office use, whether for personal or household projects. I might still recommend having a black and white laser printer, too, for inexpensive, day-to-day printing. Still, if you want high-quality output, this is a significantly better product than what I was accustomed to.

Setup was a breeze, printer works great. Wish Ink cartridges weren't so expensive, my usage is right between where it is a toss-up of buying ink myself and using the subscription. I'm currently on the subscription. NOTE: There IS NO +1 Month FREE EXTRA! I got no code, no nothing! Just the HP provided 3 months.

TL;DR: SETUP: It’s pretty simple. Very similar to most other HP printers. USE: It works just like my older HP printer. I mostly use it to print wirelessly from my laptop, iPad, or iPhone. USABILITY: It works well and prints clearly. OVERALL: It’s exactly what you would expect from HP. That’s a good thing! REVIEW: The OfficeJet 8125e is similar to the other HP OfficeJets I’ve owned. It prints (can be double-sided), copies, scans, and faxes (not sure when the last time I actually faxed anything…;) ). It looks more modern and professional than my last OfficeJet, but that one is about 8-9 years old. That one still works fine, but I gifted it to a friend who needed a printer. I typically use my printer via WiFi printing from my computer (a MacBook Pro, Windows laptop, or Chromebook), iPad (various models), or a phone (iPhone or Android). I have not had any issues with printing. Most of the time, I use black and white, rarely anymore…but both print out very nicely. Lastly, I haven’t replaced the cartridges yet, but there is an option for HP+. If you are a heavy printer, that may be a good option to look at.

I think this printer is perfect for my needs. However, I am not able to print different size pictures or more than one pic on a page so I guess the program that I had when this printer was set up was removed. I will have to find an app later to work with this printer.

People familiar with this series know what to expect. When the printer works, and when the ink doesn't need to be replaced, this device reliably and excellently produces copies of smaller documents and reports. Excellent for small business and students. However... It's very easy to lose connectivity on this device, and to spend as much time resurrecting the printer from sleep as it is waiting for it to finish printing a document. Be prepared to fiddle with the controls with this printer. Scanning and printing work really well, too. Great print quality for standard printing, and scanning is a breeze. The problem is you'll run out of ink really quickly. The device only has a paper tray that holds like 35 sheets, so you probably know to expect low amounts of prints before "refills" of paper and ink become necessary. Still, the need to refill both paper and ink on such a semi-frequent basis kind of spurs the whole experience. And don't let the ink sit idle - you'll need to replace it if it simply "dries out." The HP printing apps really just add unnecessary steps to wireless printing, but they are no more onerous than apps from other manufacturers. It seems like you always need to select your doc or file through your printer manufacturer's app before you can print, so if that's what you are used to you won't find any surprises here. All in all, very good at core functions (printing and scanning) when the device doesn't require attention, so great for students and families. Like many OfficeJets before it, the printer is very bad at keeping a consistent and awake wireless connection and on not needing paper and ink refills. Good for the money, but know the limitations of what you are getting.

The HP All-In-One Printer 8125e is another model in HP’s 8000 series of AIO printers. In fact, you wouldn’t be able to distinguish between the different models for the most part. And as such this has become a generic product. But then again, I believe people no longer buy printers for their aesthetics rather than their functionality. Coming from an HP AIO 8030 which unfortunately broke down, I really wouldn’t mind this at all. Unlike the HP 8030 AIO which is a four-in-one printer (print, scan, copy and fax), the HP 8125e lacks the fax feature. But then again, fax is dying if not already dead as well as the landline. So, there’s really no great loss over there. Fax aside, the form factor is pretty much the same as mentioned earlier. It still has the 20ppm capability to print in black and white and 10ppm in color. Edgeless and duplex printing are pretty much included too. Scanning and copying are pretty much the same as found with other models. Like most printers nowadays, it is a smart printer. One thing to note though is Wi-Fi connectivity is improved but the app for Windows remains the same. I am not sure if there is a full-blown app for MacOS. But we live mostly in a Microsoft world. Mobile apps for iOS and Android are also available. And being a smart printer, HP InstaInk is also available for this specific model. Often there is a free trial of HP InstaInk and it’s up to you to continue the service or not. In my case, I find the InstaInk to be a viable option as it is cheaper to subscribe rather than buy ink. One thing to keep in mind is that the number of free months vary from printer models. In my broken HP 8030, I had 8 months of free InstaInk. For this model, it comes only with three. There is really nothing new to rave about this printer. But one thing I would say is that this printer is a solid option for home office and school use. And even though the design is the same, I would still highly recommend this.

I am a rubber stamper...I make lots and lots of greeting type cards for all mybfamily and friends. I have alwaysbhad HP inkjets in the past. But this time I bought this desk jet because it stated that it would take cardstock. It works perfectly!
