Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the laptop's performance, design, and speed, with many praising its smooth gaming capabilities and sleek aesthetics. However, customers are negative about the battery life and fan noise, citing these as significant drawbacks. Some users also reported issues with screen quality and heat generation. Overall, the positive aspects of performance and design seem to outweigh the negative feedback regarding battery life and other minor issues for many users.

Powerful computer, great graphics, and okay price for an RTX 3070 laptop version. The fan runs a little load and often but you can tweak the settings so it doesn't turn on as often.

    Seriously? A part two, Omen?

I am extremely dissatisfied with this purchase. To start us off, I originally had an Omen 15 ek0013dx, with RTX 2060, which was decent, but had extreme WiFi issues. It eventually reached a point to where it didn’t work as a gaming laptop, and barely passed as a decent laptop for general use at all. They scrapped it after making me wait two weeks, and gave me my money on a store credit card (I paid in full with cash, which is another grievance on its own), and they decided to leave out the part where they no longer carried that same laptop. An extra $200+ dollars later, o bought this laptop. I bought this April 8th, and am now writing this on April 26th, 18 days after I got it. The laptop DID perform flawlessly with a few exceptions here and there (Fallout 4 wouldn’t and will never run full screen, at least not for me), until today. I was playing HL2: Episode 2, closed everything out then went to shutdown to give it a break. I did “Update and Shutdown” and thought nothing of it. 1 1/2 to 2 hours later, I went to turn it on, and POW, black screen of death. Not a single HP Support member could figure out a way to get me to override it, and suggested it was a hardware issue and that I bring it in to Best Buy. I use this for my Media Production business, and for school. I’ve already lost 2 weeks of progress with both because of Best Buy’s abysmal repair/customer service. The last thing I want to do is lose even more, with barely a month left of Senior year. Maybe if I didn’t keep getting the bottom of the barrel laptops, or if their support was better, or they could pump out a better quality laptop that didn’t have catastrophic downsides like the past two I’ve had, I’d still be recommending this brand to my friends. I’ve gotten a friend to buy one, and even she’s having issues. This is an extremely sub-par piece of hardware, that really and truly looks fantastic in specs, but it’d be a cold day where the devil lives before I’d recommend this. I mean come on, I treat this thing better than a mother and her first baby, but no, apparently a “hardware malfunction” would definitely happen an entire 18 days after I bought it, when it rarely leaves my bed. Grow up, HP.

Overall this is a fantastic laptop in this price range. The performance is great and the upgrade options are a huge bonus. The reason for my 4 out of 5-star review is due to the display. The screen itself is fine, but it is incredibly flexible. If you don't plan to travel then this is more likely a non-factor for you, but if you put this in a backpack or bag the screen flexes down and makes contact with the keys. There is also a ridge that separates the keyboard and touchpad that contacts the screen. I do have concerns about the long-term effects to the actual screen since I do a bit of traveling with it. If you don't travel then I highly recommend this laptop. Cooling is top notch and the fans were tolerable when pushing the system. You will not be disappointed in this purchase.

I have been looking for a decent gaming laptop that would give me enough performance for everyday tasks and gaming if desired. This laptop needs to get looked especially compared to some for the ones Asus has been coming out with. This may not be the thinnest out there, but there's a reason for and that's the cooling. The fans do ramp up a bit similar to other laptops, but not once has the laptop felt warm let alone hot to the touch. Everything runs at a reasonable temperature. For those that love tweaking, this gives you an option to undervolt the CPU and change to the discreet GPU (instead of using Optimus) from the Omen application and I've seen better performance because of it. The keyboard layout is amazing and feels even better. The RGB is a nice touch. The screen still has a flex to it but the body has rubber feet to limit the flex when closed. Battery life a decent when you set it up for a work day my. I was able to get like 5 to 6 hours. Not the best, but with thunderbolt 3 charging, I didn't have to lug around the stock charger. The computer is honestly one the major sleepers in the new line of gaming laptops with the new 3000 series of NVIDIA GPUs and the best part is that you can probably get one too. My only complaint is that it is a finger print magnet.

The price for this laptop is fair for the performance. It’s a bit loud and runs hot but that is to be expected with a gaming laptops My first purchase had busted pixels in the display and made weird noises… the second one is great! Perfect for playing games in the living room.

I personally love it, it does everything I wanted. Obviously you're not getting the screen of an Asus or the keyboard of a Razer, but it has handled everything I have thrown at it. Battery life is obviously low, but you should be plugged in most of the time anyways.

This laptop checked all the boxes for me I was looking for a laptop that was upgradable with memory and storage which it was. Also I wanted a relatively inexpensive gaming laptop and this was the one. The screen is a little flimsy but as long as you take care of your electronics you’ll be ok. The battery life isn’t the best but it’ll last me 3-5 hours with the screen on the lowest setting. If you are going to game on it, you need to use the power adapter while gaming or else you will not get the full performance of the 3070.

Very good gaming laptop for the price. My first gaming laptop. Transitioning from console. Wanted something that wasnt lpw end but close to high end for my first gaming laptop. Didn't want to spend too much. Since i am still trying to get the feel for pc gaming. And this was perfect. Very user friendly. Battery life isnt good without power cord. Highly recommend connecting power cord for gaming or doing tasks that require more power usage that lasts more than an hour.

Nice laptop, with plenty of speed. the only 2 reasons I did not give it 5 stars are: The power button is on the keyboard, next to the delete key. Not the best placement for a power button. The second is that the power supply heats up fast and gets really hot when in gaming mode. The battery in gaming mode lasts about 1.75 hours, which is expected considering the 3070 card. The display is nice and bright even outdoors. For the price, it was a good deal.

Great PC, at the end traded it for the AMD version

It was an OK machine, got issues where anytime you locked Windows, after a few minutes it randomly rebooted. Looking into the event logs all I found was a system error indicating that Windows rebooted due to a bug error and some Hex memory addresses. I did a fully factory reset, reinstalled the latest update, and the issue persisted. I ended up replacing my order with the AMD Ryzen version and no regrets!!! feels great, and I cannot find a difference in my gaming experience... My bank account got a few hundred dollars happier, as that model is a little cheaper than this one. To conclude, I believe you're getting a great machine, it could all be just a bad unit, so it's unfair for me to give this a bad review, but now I am happier with the AMD version of this model.

Great gaming laptop that doesn't overheat like the very thin gaming laptops. Be careful of BIOS autoupdate through windows 10. That bricked my omen 15 even though i didnt do anything wrong. I litterly left the laptop to do its update and 15 minutes later, it was a black screen with no backlight bleedthrough and system fans running normally and completely unreasonsive. I created a bios boot flash drive and that wouldnt even load. Luckily i was within the bestbuy exchange period. After reading the BIOS update notes and it was something silly like "fixes minor graphical glitch when entering BIOS", I manually refused the BIOS update on my omen 15 replacement when windows asked and everything is currently well with my replacement. Customer service desk was polite and very helpful and understanding.
