I love this laptop so much! It has been genuinely amazing to use nearly every day. The 3060 and i7 in this are no slouch at all. Every single game will run without issue and at high settings. There was a bit of bloatware, but i cannot dock a dtar for that, all pre-built computers (desktops included and even phones now) have it. Simply uninstall them. It's battery life when gaming isn't great but nobody expects that with gaming laptops, the power brick's cord is long enough to keep it plugged in pretty much anywhere. The build quality is great and very nice to the touch. I was worried about a squishy keyboad, worry not there is no squish! The trackpad is useless while gaming, like any laptop, get a bluetooth or wired mouse / controller if you'd like to play games.

Love love love this computer! Snappy 14-core i7-12700H! I was heavily considering a purchase of a laptop with i9 12800HX, basically the top of the top, but this Omen is doing just fine! Using for WFH, VMs, gaming, av editing, general internet usage. 100+ fps in many many current games, at 2560x1440! Blows me away. Way better than an Alienware I had purchased for $1000 more. Had to return, as a couple days after I purchased I had dead pixels all over screen. Exchanged. on another note I hope native Linux support down the road is not an issue. Intel rep at Best Buy was very helpful in choosing a new cpu. Battery life is not long, which is typical for a real multicore cpu. no silly macbook with essentially an iPhone processor. 2-3 hrs on battery maybe 4 with switching to Integrated graphics. Extremely happy with purchase.

Good laptop for gaming but not the best for editing. Max I can edit on this is 1080p in Davinci Resolve due to the GPU only having 6Gb of VRAM that I didn't find it had until later. Got it as a replacement for my stolen Omen 15 4K laptop which felt smoother & had a better looking screen. File explorer on this particular laptop is very buggy, haven't been able to fix it. Could be because I got it refurbished. Great refresh rate but not bright or very color accurate. Would only recommend it if you just plan to do light work & game. For video editing, I'd look elsewhere & get something future proof.

The cooling could be a little more open. But for a laptop, a 3060 with an i7 and 165 hz screen. Its a beast.

I got it for $1199 (Labor day sale). My specs are Nvidia RTX3060, 1Tb, QHD, 16Gb Ram. I guess Im Lucky because the original price is $1699. Also it comes with a free downloadable game. I chose COD MW2 which will be release in Oct. The other games was Vampire Masquarade and 2 more but you can only pick 1. I think its a fast laptop and I use it for Music Software DAW and games. Im also planning to use it in video editing. The reason I gave 4 stars are it feels plasticky, battery drains fast even I set it to integrated graphics and not use the nvidia and the keyboard font is small. But the pros out weigh the cons.

Ill keep it real. I’ve had some pretty good gaming laptops throughout my life but this one is by far my favorite! It’s always my top recommendation to anyone looking for a gaming laptop. However i do warn people, with any gaming, if you are a heavy gamer like me. I will not last off the charger as advertised. That goes for all gaming laptops because they are miniature gaming PCs. Other than that, you’re just fine buying this one or the same one just i9. Weigh your options accordingly to your gaming style

Overall a somewhat good deal for $1199. Doesn't have the best GPU offering from NVIDIA but with the next gen GPU rumored to be on the way it doesn't make sense to spend a lot on something more expensive. Plus if I'm not mistaken, an external GPU dock could be hooked up through the Type C thunderbolt ports on the back for future-proofing. Can only switch between 165hz and 60 hz in the display settings. Kept it at 60hz for the sake of battery life and because 165hz makes some Youtube videos look weird and sped up, which is to be expected. Couldn't easily find the sRGB value of the display but from what I've found online it seems to be 100% sRGB. Brightness is decent. Battery life was bad at first, battery % dropped quite a bit within 30min to 1hr with light usage/idling, which I thought was odd. After uninstalling Mcafee Livesafe and Personal Security along with installing some Windows and HP firmware updates, battery life became much better. Coming from a laptop with a smaller trackpad, it took a bit to get used to how big the trackpad is and how the button presses are a bit stiffer compared to my old laptop. I occasionally ended up moving the mouse or "tapping" while resting my hands on the edge of the trackpad due to how wide it is. Lowering the sensitivity seemed to help with this. Pros: - Speakers are loud and clear even at around 20 - 30%. Anything higher seems too loud for general indoor use - Keyboard doesn't require a lot of force to actuate keys, learned to type with less force, makes it easy to type fast - Nice satisfying click when closing lid - Fans can push out a lot of air though not without an increase in noise. Low to lower mid fan levels seem to have a decent balance between fan output and noise. Minor annoyances: - No per key RGB lighting - thick bottom display bezel - Fan noise can get really loud around mid to max speed, though this can be reduced using fan curves in the HP Omen program - Doesn't seem to be any way to switch from Hybrid GPU mode to Discrete mode without restarting laptop. - Webcam is 720p and makes you look a like a fuzzy painting when camera view is in full screen, looks ok when camera view is minimized.

    An Excellent Gaming Laptop Computer

I needed to replace a 7 1/2-year-old gaming laptop, so I started shopping. After about 2 months of research I was rather surprised first by the advancements in computer technology (I don't really follow advancements too closely) and second, by how reasonable the prices were considering the technology now available. I selected the HP Omen 16.1 with the Intel Core i7 12700H processor and the Geforce RTX 3060 GPU, 16 Gig RAM and a 1 Tb SSD with Windows 11 Home Edition on the Best Buy website and purchased it during a Black Friday Sale Event. I wanted something with plenty of ports, plus a Thunderbolt 4.0 USB-C port. I was not disappointed! This thing is fast! Definitely MUCH faster than my old machine. Yes, there other machines that are faster for a much higher price but this suits my requirements very nicely! The first thing I did was upgrade to Windows 11 Pro (better security options plus compatibility with our company servers) and get rid of a lot of the "bloat ware". Then I loaded my work programs and activated the Express VPN that came with the machine. The machine runs all of them perfectly. I don't game, buy Google Earth and Adobe graphics products run super fast on this set of processors. Very nice! Construction: My old computer (a Lenovo Edge 15) has an aluminum outer casing. The Omen 16.1 has a plastic outer casing but that doesn't bother me. My laptops over the last 32 years have all had plastic casings (except the Lenovo) so this is no issue. The display is very nice ( 2560 x 1440) though it is rather flexible. Once again, no problem. I try to take care of my equipment and it usually lasts. This particular machine weighs 5.33 lbs but it's the same thickness and smaller and a bit lighter than the Lenovo I have. Actually, this really doesn't weight all that much but some folks are weight sensitive, particularly those who travel a lot. If so, this may not be what you want. Ports: The Omen 16.1 has a total of 9 ports: Left Side: an SD card slot, a headphone/microphone combo jack, an ethernet port and a USB 3.0 Type A power port (you can charge a phone, earbuds, etc using this port). Back: an HDMI 2.1 port, and 2 USB Type C Thunderbolt 4 ports. Right: 2 USB 3.2 Type A high-speed ports. I really like the ports on the back. One of the USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports is used by my docking station (a j5 Create 13 port USB-C Dual/Triple Display Docking Station) and it works perfectly. Battery Life: Approximately 2.5 hours. Now, I don't have some of the power saving utilities active (like auto-sleep). I am usually running peripherals and a monitor/projector while in meetings. Just remember that this is a gaming laptop. These things use a lot of power. So, your mileage may vary. I don't have any "Cons" per se except for the lack of the 10-key number pad. I use these quite a bit in my work. Overall, this is an excellent machine and I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a budget-friendly powerful laptop for work, gaming or watching videos.

Speed is phenomenal. I never knew you could get this much power for the price and size. Fun to play games at high to ultra settings. It’s ram is expandable to 32 GB with 2 slots. But the DDR 5 is great even at 16 GB. There is a 2nd slot for another SSD. Also the 14 cores on this 12th gen i7 is great. Funny how 12th gen i7 is faster than 11th gen i9. Battery I wish battery was a a few cells bigger. Gotta keep it plugged in if you game. Fans get very loud when it’s gaming but never had it overheat on me.

I bought the laptop to replace my 5 year old HP 15" I7 Envy laptop (still works fine). It's real fast and is built very sturdy. This is my 5th laptop over the years and this one is the best so far. Graphics are great and it can handle GOPRO 4k movies with ease.

I purchased this as a Open-Box Excellent when the prices had dropped to <$1000. For that price, it is a good product. I don't think I would prefer to pay the sticker price of $1500+. The display is good. The keyboard colors are cool. The trackpad is not great in regards to responsiveness or movement. The battery life is not great for heavy or light activities - 34% battery use with internet browsing (Mozilla) and listening to music in approximately 2 hours. I have used it for some light gaming - Valorant and get 200+ FPS on medium + settings and it does well. The fans are very loud as with most gaming laptops to keep it cool. I have a 14" Macbook Pro as well - which I prefer to this for most daily use. The exception being software, that's optimized for Windows rather than MacOS, and the larger screen. If spending >1500 consider a MBP instead - especially if not needing any heavy duty graphics card.
