Great computer - needs a bigger hard drive
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great computer, but it really needs a bigger hard drive. The computer is fast, stylish, clean looking, and quiet. The ports at the top of the case are easily accessible, and overall the computer just runs great. The RGB is bright and fun, and the computer gives off a clean looking "gamer vibe." The graphics card is a little odd in that it has multiple DisplayPort outputs and a single HDMI output. Not all of my monitors have DisplayPort, but HDMI is fairly common. I would have expected it to have two HDMI outputs (though I do understand that it's easier to split a DisplayPort signal between multiple outputs than an HDMI signal). I'm not sure, but I think the power cable might be something proprietary too. It looks like a standard PC power cable layout, but it looks a bit smaller than normal (maybe 80-90% the size?). I only have one real complaint about this computer, and it's that the hard drive is too small. My personal opinion is that 1TB isn't enough space for a modern gaming computer. With modern games averaging 50-70GB each, it won't take much to fill up this drive. It's not immediately clear to me if the storage on this computer can be upgraded. I'm assuming that there's another NVME or SATA port somewhere on this motherboard, but I'm not seeing them right off, and I haven't been able to find a hardware guide for this computer on HP's site yet. I do see that there appears to be a bay for a 3.5" hard drive at the bottom of the case. That gives me hope that there's at least a SATA port hiding somewhere. Worse case scenario, you can always purchase an external hard drive and install some of your games to it to free up some space. This desktop does have ample USB ports. The HP Omen software also integrates nicely with GeForce Now, and the computer comes with a trial of XBox Game Pass. You can always use one of these cloud gaming services to free up some storage space too.

A Good Entry PC for PC Gaming
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HP OMEN 35L Gaming Desktop with the AMD Ryzen 5 8500 CPU, 16GB DDR5 Memory, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060, and 1TB SSD, is a quality entry level Prebuilt and a good bang for your buck. I've had a chance to put it through its paces over the past week, and here’s my thoughts on it. From the moment I powered up the HP OMEN 35L, it's clear that this machine was designed for gaming. The AMD Ryzen 5 8500, with its 6 cores and 12 threads, made light work of everyday tasks. Whether I was multitasking between a dozen browser tabs, gaming, streaming high-definition videos, or working on big spreadsheets, the desktop remained smooth and responsive. The computer comes equipped with the Omen software where you can tune your PC, along with changing the RAM Speeds (which by default is not set to the highest speed), adjust fan curve and change the RGB Lighting. The PC also comes with a ton of bloatware installed that I recommend uninstalling to free up space and memory usage. The 16GB of DDR5 memory was more than sufficient for handling simultaneous applications. Switching between demanding programs, such as photo editing software and virtual machines, was seamless. Booting up was quick, thanks to the 1TB SSD, which also made file transfers and program launches virtually instantaneous. I will say I was concerned initially that the motherboard only had one M.2 SSD slot on it. But after flipping the case on its side I noticed there was an SSD logo on the motherboard under the GPU. So if you do decide to upgrade your Storage by adding an additional SSD, you will need to take out the GP, in order to install the new M.2 SSD. Since this is a prebuilt, and most people will be hesitant in removing their GPU, I wish HP would have installed the M.2 in that Slot. It does also have a sled enclosure in the case for Hard Drive storage, but only room for one HDD or SSD. Also the 500 Watt Power supply is not modular, so adding more HDD or SSD limits you to one and you will not be able to add more. The cable management is well done in the case and is neatly organized and routed throughout and has a fan splitter in the back of the case if you want to add more fans for air flow. The motherboard also has WiFi built in on it along with bluetooth, and plenty of I/O in the back with 6x USB-A ports, 2x of those being 5gbs ports, 1x 10GBs USB-C port, Cat5 ethernet jack, microphone and audio jacks. The PC does come with a mouse and keyboard, but they are cheap and I recommend getting something better. Now, onto the fun part—gaming. With the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 onboard, I was excited to see how it fared, especially with the latest DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) technology. I fired up a few demanding titles to test its capabilities. In Cyberpunk 2077, running with a mixture of low and medium settings with DLSS set to “Ultra performance,” on my 4K TV, the game ran around 30-55 FPS. It was very choppy and was kind of hard to play. So, I decided to run it on my 1440P monitor along with DLSS, which made a noticeable difference, enhancing frame rates without compromising visual fidelity. The AI upscaling seemed to handle the heavy lifting well, maintaining acceptable visuals without any choppiness. In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, I enabled DLSS and set it to “Performance” mode, I was getting anywhere from 80-100 FPS. The gameplay was fluid, with minimal stuttering or frame drops, even during intense firefights. The graphics were stunning, and DLSS provided a visual experience that was immersive and smooth. The 4060 GPU is usable at 4K if you’re playing competitive games that are not too graphics intensive compared to high end AAA games and I’d recommend using a 1440p display to get the most out of the card. Pros and Cons Pros: 1. Good price to Performance: The AMD Ryzen 5 8500 and 16GB DDR5 RAM ensure smooth performance for both daily tasks and demanding applications. 2. Gaming: The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060, combined with DLSS technology, delivers exceptional gaming performance, even at Medium to higher settings at 1440p. 3. Fast Storage: The 1TB M.2 SSD provides quick boot times and rapid access to files, making everything from starting up to loading games a breeze. 4. Design and Build: The HP OMEN 35L has a sleek, modern design with good airflow, which helps keep the system cool even under heavy load. Cons: 1. Bloatware: The pre-installed software includes some unnecessary bloatware that takes up space and can be a hassle to remove. 2. Power Supply: Lack of modular power supply limits you to what you can upgrade. 3. Keyboard and Mouse: Cheap plastic and sound awful, invest in better ones. Overall, the HP OMEN 35L Desktop is a good starter PC for those wanting to get into PC gaming and for those not wanting to break the bank. This PC is perfect if you want to play competitive games like Fortnite, Valorant, Apex and Warzone at 1440p. If you are wanting to play high end AAA games at 4K, you will probably want to go with something that has a higher end GPU and CPU.

An Incredible Out-of-the-Box Gaming Powerhouse
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was in the market for a new gaming PC that could handle modern titles without the hassle and cost of building one myself. After a month with the HP Omen 35L (RTX 4060 model), I am utterly impressed. This machine is a testament to how good pre-built systems have become, offering fantastic performance, a sleek design, and genuine upgradeability. Immediate, No-Fuss Performance Right out of the box, the Omen 35L was ready to game. The setup was a simple matter of plugging in the power and monitor cables. I didn't have to worry about installing drivers, troubleshooting faulty components, or dealing with BIOS updates. Within 20 minutes, I was downloading my library. This PC is perfect for anyone who wants a top-tier gaming experience without the build anxiety. Handles Everything I Throw at It The combination of the AMD Ryzen 5 8500G and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 is a perfect match for high-fidelity 1080p and smooth 1440p gaming. I've been playing Cyberpunk 2077 with Ray Tracing on medium settings and getting buttery smooth frame rates. Less demanding titles like Fortnite and Apex Legends easily hit their max frame rate caps at 1440p. The 16GB of DDR5 RAM ensures everything is snappy, and the 1TB NVMe SSD is blazing fast—games and the OS load in a flash. A Case That's Both Beautiful and Practical The Omen 35L case is a standout feature. It looks fantastic on my desk with its clean white and black aesthetic and subtle RGB lighting—it's stylish without being overly "gamer-y." More importantly, it's brilliantly designed for airflow. The front is mesh, allowing the large front fan to pull in plenty of cool air. Even during long, intense gaming sessions, the temperatures remain remarkably cool and the fans, while audible under load, are never obnoxiously loud. Smartly Designed for the Future A huge selling point for me was the upgradeability. Many pre-builts use proprietary parts that lock you in. HP has done a great job here; the motherboard uses standard connections, the power supply is a standard ATX unit, and there's plenty of room to add more RAM, storage, or even a more powerful GPU down the line. This isn't a closed system; it's a foundation I can build upon for years to come. Final Verdict The HP Omen 35L strikes a rare balance. It delivers exceptional plug-and-play performance for today's games, looks fantastic doing it, and doesn't punish you for wanting to upgrade later. It's the ideal system for: · Gamers who want a powerful, ready-to-go rig without the complexity of building. · Students or professionals who need a capable machine for both work and play. · Enthusiasts who appreciate a well-built case with standard components for future upgrades. For its price point, the performance and build quality you get are outstanding. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. 9.5/10.

Solid
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great price for the components available in it. Anyone looking to upgrade to a 4060 makes this a perfect price point, especially with the sale it had. I primarily use it for gaming and regularly get 144 fps while playing now, that also being the max my monitors can refresh. Other than having to deal with Windows and everything Windows decides to try and throw at you via requiring a Microsoft account, it's a great computer.

Just Fine for Casual Gamer
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am not a gamer, but I do like to casually play Star Wars games. Graphics are fine for me. I had it hooked up to a 1440 / 165 monitor. It seems to take a moment to connect to the internet though when not using for a few days. The keyboard and mouse felt cheap, but will get you by.

Perfect PC to get into PC Gaming
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The quick summary for this is that its a great way to get into PC gaming with good specs for those that just want to hook up and play. But whats even better is that it has room to grow for those that want to upgrade and get even better performance. If your like me when it comes to gaming I just want to set things up and play. The usual upgrade for my consoles might be a larger SSD but thats it. So when it comes to PC gaming I really appreciate a PC that is ready to go and will perform well out of the box. But as you go you can upgrade and make it closer to a high tier rig. Set up was simple. I use my Sony OLED TV as my monitor and it looks and performs amazing. Boot ups are lightning fast with the 1TB SSD. The design is awesome with RGB lights that can be tweaked with the Omen program. And although I can hear the fans they are not at all too loud. Id rather hear them and know they are cooling then run high temps. Performance is excellent. I was pleasantly surprised at how well everything worked. I was expecting some sort of lag or other issue when running at higher settings. But everything was smooth. So I see no need to upgrade anything yet. It has all the ports you would need and then some. Display, HDMI, USB C (total of 10 USB). So you can connect accessories to your hearts consent. It also comes with a fairly basic keyboard and mouse that will do the job. However I prefer a good old XBOX controller for gaming. And of course this works beautifully as a regular desktop PC as well. So running programs, browsing, watching videos, etc. all work perfectly. I highly recommend this to anyone that wants to get into PC gaming and just wants to play. But also for those that love to upgrade this has that option as well.
