The computer came loaded with Win 8.1 and it was fairly easy to load the required software for all the devices that I interfaced with it, however; I ended up un-installing and re-installing the software for 2 devices after only 3 weeks, I don't know what was the source of this problem, probably a Win8 issue!

It has been 8 years since my last HP purchase and I needed an upgrade. Everything I own other than my ipad are HP and I would not do anything else! Super fast start-up (which was my complaint about the old computer) and great graphics with almost seamless move from Vista to Windows 8 (unlike I had been told before). I wish items like McAfee were not pre-installed (huge space waste and not the best antivirus at reasonable price out there) but I can and did uninstall what was necessary. I am in love with this new beast!

This computer is a lot faster, more energy efficient, and quieter than any of my previous ones. And with help from the Geek Squad I got it working and set up just the way I wanted it.

This is my third Hewlett Packard desktop computer over the years. They are reliable machines and sturdy ones. I do have a slight problem with the keyboard which is styled more like one that you would find on a laptop. I prefer my old style - elevated in the back and with more separated key buttons.

Gradually, I am learning what this computer can do. So much is on it that I will never use; most of what I want and need, I have to purchase. Bring back the good ole days when you buy what you want and it worked without calling to someone who doesn't speak English to assist you.

I needed a new CPU because my old one crashed. This was in the price range and had the space I wanted. However, it doesn't seem to process as fast as my 7 yr old computer did, when I'm playing games. Overall it is nice to have and I'm finally getting use to the Windows 8

I purchased this for my mother figuring it would handle her writing, social media, and internet research with no problem. We are already on our second tower. I believe Windows 8.1 is a big culprit here but this computer is throwing issues I've never seen, plus her old Vista computer was faster online! Kuddos to Best Buy when we had a tech out from Geek Squad. When he couldn't get his programs to download and found out we had the computer for less than 3 months he called the store General Manager while he continued to work. He recommended a store replacement as he was having issue resolving anything. My Mom took it down and the manager had the new tower ready and waiting at customer service under the Geek Squad warranty we had purchased.

i know you get what you pay for...i got even less. When i went shopping online at Bestbuy for a replacement desktop PC... i came across this model HP - Pavilion Desktop - AMD A8-Series - 8GB Memory - 2TB Hard Drive - Gray which was fairly priced... i like this computer because all of the specifications met my needs as well as the way it look on the outside; variety of ports, slots. ...With my print out(s) i went to my nearest Best Buy store to look at 3 models, in person...there was no floor model to look at or touch...yet i decided to purchase HP - Pavilion Desktop - AMD A8-Series - 8GB Memory - 2TB Hard Drive - Gray out of the other 2 because of it's specs . Geek squak set it all up for me and had it ready the next day :0)...i had been with out a computer for at less a week. i brought it home and then set it up (according to manufactures instructions) and got depressed because when i had turned it on this unusual tapping noise would come out from the inside of it's shell...sounded like when you're playing CD and then all the sudden it falls off the tracks of the CD player . So i did it a couple of more times that night...same thing. Next morning, went to start it up...same thing, noise. This only happens when you start it up. Another thing that i would like to mention is , the weight of the tower itself ...it's very lite for being a desktop (as oppose to a laptop which one has to carry around) makes it feel as if was cheaply made ...as well as, the way the inside hard wear was placed....when i removed it from it's card board box...it felt as if everything, it's guts(hardware ) was placed it the front face of the tower...top heavy and off balance ...poorly designed and constructed...doesn't have a firm and sturdy foundation. (i don't know if the designer was trying to save money on the coast of shipping by making it out of lite materials yet to me it feels cheap. One more reason is that it's slow. I purchase HP - Pavilion Desktop - AMD A8-Series was it to replace Gateway Intel i5 that i had lost , caused by my up stairs water leak . (The Geek Squad did a wonderful, outstanding job in saving the hard drive... information and files. i paid $80.00 for them to do this but well worth it. )
therefore in closing, in the future if i had to a new desktop or laptop for a family member or myself , i would not choose a HP (or Gateway) because of all the reasons listed above...it's not a good long term investment. However, i have and will continue to buy my computers and accessories from best buy because of the Geek Squad. Take care and God Bless

This was a replacement desktop for my previous one with a bad motherboard/processor. I figured I'd upgrade. It's works great, except there is no room for expansion. The motherboard is a micro AXT format. There is plenty of bays for other hard drives, but no where to plug them in. Also there are no expansion slots on the motherboard and only two memory slots, one of which is the 8GB stick it comes with. I would recommend it but only if you don't want to ever add to it. I should have gotten one with a mini case and saved the room.
On a good note, there is no power supply and the power cord plugs right in to the board through the supplied transformer cord. Power consumption is minimal.

Good basic tower, surprised that I could not add a hard drive without disconnecting the DVD drive. Small inconvenience as I only needed to do this once to transfer data to the new machine. I would recommend, and have already done so, to friends.

I expected more from this product. I found out that there are no expansion slots.(My bad). I contacted HP tech support for a problem. Very poor. can't understand the service rep. went thru the map charts(Sure that what he was doing) no fix. He wanted to have me restore the software system. It was a hardware problem. My previous HP was very good .

The same day I hooked up, a virus was put into it and nothing would work, even with the Mcafee that was installed. Took four 1/2 hours with HP support to get it to work. Two days later it was not working again, then another two hours with H P support. Windows 8 is a complete pain. Takes forever to reboot and every time I get an update, I wind up with more problems.

The title says it all. Speedy for everyday use and even some gaming but the huge 2 TB hard drive is nice for saving everything.
