It works... but pain to upgrade video

With otherwise decent specs, I bought two of these with the intention of upgrading the video. I did a bit of research ahead of time and knew that I would need to purchase new power supplies through HP, which while wasn't ideal, was something I could work with. HP doesn't make it easy to upgrade and it took a while to track down the correct part numbers. At time of purchase, the best power supply we could get through HP was a 400w, which was disappointing, but would meet the power supply needs of the budget friendly video cards we were planning on adding. I believe there was also a 310w power supply also available. You can upgrade the SSD drive (I did on one machine) and the memory, which was a must. With the SSD drive, fast, and the machine in general is quiet. Aside from the power supply issue, my only real complaint is the case. It is so tiny (maybe a plus for some), which makes me worry about overheating and made the upgrades a pain, it has a vertical disc drive and it is SO ugly ;-) The fake brushed metal plastic is just hideous. But, the compact size may perfect for some and I haven't actually had any issues with overheating or the vertical drive (which I use on a regular basis).

    HP 595-p0084 computer

Got this computer before Christmas 2018, first one was a dud, nothing worked, even the cd-rom. took it back. Got the second one and it acted like the first one. Then I installed Norton Utilities. It found over 12,000 hard drive and registry issues. Now mind you this came from HP with these issues. So I ran Norton Utilities software and it fixed and resolved all of the issues. So Norton did it's job. I was frustrated that it had this many issues, I have never had a HP computer like this. Contacted HP about this and the (overseas) CS person said she would give me a case number and someone would contact me. Well it's been 8 weeks now and no one from HP has CONTACTED ME. That being said, overall this is a good, faster computer than my older ( i7 ) computer, If you know how to change downloads to the D drive instead of the C drive and not eat up the C drive SSD which is small and goes quickly, then this is NOT for you. If not, don't buy. I give it four stars only for it's better CPU speed than my last ( i 7) one. but disappointed in HP. Best Buy is awesome , but souring on HP, for good reason. Hope this helps. It's a good price but it has issues.

After spending many days moving all my data to the new computer, I find that my QuickBooks programs will not open. I spent 3 hours on the phone with them troubleshooting and the final result is that there is an issue with the computer. I called HP and spoke with someone in another country, with lots of other foreign voices in the background, and they said the only option was for me to speak to another representative that would charge me for speaking to them. The person I was speaking with had apparently never heard of QuickBooks and said it had to be their issue. I am a QuickBooks ProAdvisor and have worked with them since their first version. They did their part, but HP is not willing to check things out without charging me more money. I will now be paying a computer technician to come and try to fix it.

Computer Works Fine, but Two Hard Drive Issue

The computer works fine. I paid BB to set it up. I brought it home and hooked it up to my cloud. Within a few days the computer didn't work anymore because the hard drive was full. Turns out the computer has two hard drives. The c: drive that normally holds data, only holds the operating system. The d: drive holds data. My cloud was downloading to the c drive, because that's what it does on every other computer. This is not a design flaw, it's a set up flaw. I'm 55 years old. I bought a lot of computers this year and had a lot of issues with set up. I keep learning things I need to look out for in set up. I paid Best Buy to set them all up. I don't the answer to this issue, still learning.

While the specs look good for this system, it's what they don't tell you that causes the system to drag. The wireless mouse and keyboard are a nice extra. But they're very laggy. Don't let their addition seal the deal for you. You'll probably want to replace them. The real issue with this system is the power supply. It's only 180 watts (which is mentioned nowhere on the description page) and very few even entry level video cards can run on that. So, if you're planning on adding a decent video card, plan on replacing the power supply at the same time. So far, everything else in their description has been accurate.

    Frustration from the beginning

This would maybe be a four and half star product EXCEPT, I've had nothing but problems with wireless keyboards and mice. The mouse that came with the computer refuses to work. My two other backup mice work....until they decide not to work anymore. I switched my main mouse over from another HP computer that had zero problems with the mouse. The wireless and wired keyboards usually freak out after a few days and require ridiculous amounts of effort to get working again. Another strike is the SSD is too small at 128gb. It's already almost full after one week of installing apps. Games and data go onto the main HDD, but I had to order at 256gb m.2 SSD to avoid future problems.

Replaced an older HP desktop with the Pavilion noted! Setup was a breeze and customization was painless with simple tools to enhance the process. Unit comes with Windows 10 which provides almost instant startup. The 16GB of RAM is a real plus and combined with the i7 processor really helps APPS fly. The wireless connectability to an HP Officejet worked first time and the entire process of setup probably required 30 - 45 min. This is my second HP desktop and have nothing but praise! The only slight blemish is the cheap keyboard and wired mouse that came with the package! Used another keyboard and mouse setup and everything works beautifully!

It is LIGHTNING FAST.... BUT!!!! I bought it early December 2018,for $580 and already had to send it in to have the CD/DVD drive repaired. The 'new' drive is not any better. The front panel USB drives are under-powered, The HP keyboard has its own functions different from usual Windows commands: F2 used to be a RENAME key, now it is a volume control key. There are more like this one. This may be an agreement between HP and Microsoft. A PRINT key (why????) is placed awkwardly close to Backspace key, It now sells for almost a $1,000, I won't buy it again even for $300, and definitely NOT recommend this PC.

It turns on/off pretty quick. I love the speed and connection. It's a little bulky but does the job. The only drawback on this is that if it's on sleep mode or I step away from the computer and come back, it will not turn back on. Keeps saying inactive. I literally have to press and hold the power button for 20-30 seconds to power off. Also, the bluetooth connection lags. It's great that you can connect a bluetooth speaker and avoid all the extra wires, however it becomes annoying when the audio lags behind the video. Had to revert back to a wired speaker.

Computer is 34 days old and has been shutting down multiple times a day for thermal protection. Today it seemed to shut down for no apparent reason and failed to restart for over 30 minutes. This computer is running my business and Best Buy Battle Creek says it will likely have to be sent out and usually takes 2 weeks. No way is that possible for my situation...no computer, no business! Time to try a different brand and store :(

So far I love this PC. Boots and shuts down really fast. I have run some memory intensive programs with no issues. So far I have been very pleased. The only thing I don’t like is the way the hard drive is partitioned. The C Drive is really small, so be careful when installing programs and storing documents and music. Use the D Drive to keep the C Drive free. Other than that no complaints.

I'd recommend anyone to get this one. Perfect combination of processing speeds n storage. I'm an IT professional working mostly on the programming and virtualization side. This PC is a perfect fit from computing perspective. Havent tried the Gaming side (it is better to get a dedicated gaming PC if you want)... i use my gaming console for that. Its a go for the Price and configuration.

My previous computer was an HP and much better built with more options at a lower cost. While this one preforms good things like the dvd player are sort of cheap. The ssd drive should be at a minimum double the size or it could have been set up so the downloads and most programs are installed on the D: drive so the small SSD wouldn't fill up so fast. I am hoping the quality of the hardware is better than it appears.

Just what I needed for work. I needed a device with a powerful i7 and 16GB of RAM to run Virtual Machines. Unfortunately most of the devices in this class included a dedicated Graphics Card that I will never use. I saved about 300 Dollars by buying this rather than the one with a graphics card. My only regret is the one with the Graphics card had a bigger Solid State Drive. The 128GB that is in this one was not enough, I ended up buying a SSD and installing it into this laptop.

Right out of the box and brand new I had nothing but problems with this HP Pavilion shutting itself down while going into sleep mode and the only way I could turn it back on was to unplug the power cord and plug it back in. Lost all my work and changes...such a pain and frustrating. Best Buy Geek Squad worked on it for 2-1/2 days and after getting it back the problem still persisted.

This computer is so fast, and also very quiet. I do not use this computer for gaming so its perfect for me. Runs everything well and starts up fast. The only thing is I wish the SSD drive was larger, but then the price would go up also. Runs all the software for business and surfs the web fast. Get a bigger SSD if you use alot of software and programs and want it to be specifically on an SSD.

The HP pavilion 595-P0084 is a great computer. It is easy to set up, very fast and has a 1Tb hard drive (plenty of storage). The only shortcoming I have found is the SSD is just too small (128Gb). If you are transferring the contents from an old computer, the "C" drive (the SSD) fills up too soon. I have found a simple solution by "cloning a 500Gb SSD and swapping it for the 128Gb SSD. Now I, totally, love it!

Was looking for a SSD desktop tower, hoping it could handle all of the work I have going at one time on a desktop. It has met my expectations so far. Loads quickly and so far had no issues at all with it. I can run 2 browser windows with 5 - 10 tabs open, photoshop, 2 or 3 excel spreadsheets, a word doc or 2 and a video editing program and it doesn't seem to blink an eye! Happy so far!!!

New HP desktop was very easy to setup (nest one out of a half dozen or so over the years) The solid state drive is more than ample to hold all of my primary files and is very quick to start, load files and save them. The solid state drive being used as the primary storage device also makes the unit very quiet. All in all, I am very satisfied with this new unit after approximately three weeks of use.
