Hardware defect 100 days after warranty expired

It no longer powers on -- researched the issue on the Internet and it seems to be a familiar problem with others as well. I contacted HP Tech Support and was advised that I was 100 plus days out of warranty and that a service charge of $280.00 was required to ship and repair the hardware malfunction. I paid $850 for it at Best Buy so I might as well take that $300 and put it towards purchasing a Mac laptop instead for my husband as the one I have now is 6.5 years of age and never once had any problems.

Great Laptop

good but frustrating to use

However, she has had issues with it connecting to the internet and I had to fiddle with the settings quite a bit before getting it to work better. Apart from minor issues, it is a good computer and very light weight so she can easily take it to school for use.
