    Best laptop I've ever had

Ive had this laptop now for 3 weeks. Overall incredibly happy. My wife and family ask to constantly use it and everyone thinks it is a Mac. Pros: 1. Beautiful QHD screen. Colors are accurate, displays great on my 4K sony TV. Has good brightness and the text is incredibly clear. I notice the text when I'm making a powerpoint or document. 2. Touchscreen - Ive never had a touchscreen computer and didn't know if I would use it, but I do alot. Works great with windows 8.1. 3. Incredibly fast on all front. From load time to shut down, to loading applications. 4. SSD and USB 3.0 work great and I know see how important these features are as ive never had them on previous laptops. 5. The keyboard is outstanding. Great spacing and feedback with every click. Great for small and large hands due to layout and individual keys. 6. Great connectivity with 3 USB, full HDMI, microdisplay, memory slot. 7. Speakers work great, clear and load. Cons: 1. First 1-2 weeks the computer ran hot close to the fan. However this past week, has improved greatly and im guessing was just a break in phase. 2. The mouse pad is large. I like it as the guestures are even better due to the large area to use. However occasionally the double touch tap to click an item doesn't register. no big deal but noticable. 3. The fan noise again was on the louder side the first 2 weeks when the computer ran hot, however much better this week. 4. Kind of heavy to run in full tablet mode. Overall amazing computer and I feel is the closest thing to a Mac, except with windows.

After thorough research into buying a new laptop, I finally decided on this one. I had it narrowed down to the 13 inch MacBook Air, 13 inch Macbook pro, Dell XPS 13, and this one. I chose the spectre because of my allegiance to Windows, I got much more powerful internals (and a beautiful screen) for less money, and a couple things turned me off from the XPS such as the awful webcam placement and lack of an HDMI output. Pros: The spectre x360 is a beautiful machine. I love this model's QHD display, and especially love that it has the option for use with an active stylus. The build quality is incredible and very comparable to a macbook. The hinges are sturdy and it feels just like what you paid for. I love typing on the keyboard, there is a lot of key travel and the metal keys just feel very high quality. While I was intimidated at first, the excessively large trackpad is actually a nice touch. The palm rejection works well and it gives you a lot of space for gestures. It is also very responsive and smooth and feels almost as good as using a macbook's. The touch screen is fantastic, although I don't seem to use it much. This machine works fantastically with Windows 10 and perhaps I will integrate more touch-screen usage the longer I have it. Best of all with this model is the power under the hood. This thing is a rocket to use. Startup is so quick that it's even difficult to get into the BIOS menu if you need to! It also runs non-demanding games quite well! I can play StarCraft II at 1920x1080 with low to moderate settings with an average of 40fps, never dipping below 25fps! Finally, while it's a little on the heavy side for ultrabooks, it is so thin that I don't even notice. It's extremely portable and never a burden. Cons: First of all, the biggest complaint from others seems to be that the f5 backlight LED never turns off. This was annoying until I found that going into the BIOS menu you can turn it off, so not really a con in the end just a minor inconvenience. I really wish the keys were black instead of silver, or at least a darker silver than the rest of the body. In low light when the backlight isn't necessary it can be a little hard to see the keys, although again this is just a minor inconvenience. I also do hate that the up and down directional buttons have been condensed into half-buttons to fit the rectangular keyboard area. I've had one annoying problem with the trackpad, which is that ever since updating to Windows 10, the three-finger flick gesture (one I use very frequently) seems to stop working after waking up the machine from sleep mode. This may get patched soon, but for now it is really annoying me as it only works with first startup. I don't like that the power button is on the side of the machine as I've accidentally hit it a couple of times during use, but I understand the need as it's for use in tablet-mode. Which brings me to my next point, this might be just an issue for me, but I don't understand the point of a 360 degree hinge. This laptop is a very unwieldy tablet unless you lay it on a table, and i rarely use the tent or presentation modes. It's a nice feature to have when using an active stylus on the table in tablet mode, but for typical laptop use, i'd say it's more or less gimicky, but this is likely just because I rarely use the touch screen. The speakers are okay, nothing special. I'd much rather use headphones at all times. When watching HD videos or doing anything demanding, the machine does run a little hot. Not uncomfortable, but just a little too hot. Finally, given that this model is the QHD touch screen model with the i7 processor, the battery life isn't as good as if you were to get the 1920x1080 model with an i5 or i7. It still lasts me at least 5 hours with constant HD video streaming, and upwards of 8 hours with regular browsing, so it isn't always necessary to carry a charger, but still it could be better. TL;DR: I love this laptop. I get the feeling I might have liked the macbook pro more if I wanted to grow accustomed to OSX, but as far as windows laptops go this thing is the best. Ultra-portable, ultra-powerful, a true piece of art to behold, and a joy to use. I plan to use this in all of my college classes and will be taking notes with OneNote using the Dell Active Stylus in tablet mode on a table.

Had to replace destroyed previous laptop

I have had so many laptops in the last 15 years last one was an HP first ultra book with touch screen I ever purchased loved it for 2 and a half years until the fateful morning forgot to zipper backpack/briefcase/portable office and laptop fell out also had neoprene case which wasn't fully closed and totaled screen and cracked off motherboard from screen it wasn't perfect it had a few quirks like sometimes wouldn't boot up and had to do crazy things to get it to boot up was like this from first month also had poor quality camera and poor battery life but after getting used to it and knowing we're all my files were ETC. really loved it plus HP customer service was top notch I mean they really took care of you I never took extended warranty before but when I was prompted to purchase full protection waranty after owning it for two years I bought it and sent it back to HP they sent back completely refurbished like new laptop which I gave to a coworker who was in need of a laptop. Now to how I wound up buying the specter 360 so I was paralyzed without a laptop and also needed more space for files especially picture files so first I purchased a dell 7000 series very thin and light but large 15.6 screen with I7 processor and 8 GB ram and 1 TB hard drive I had never bought a dell laptop before and this one had lots of bells and whistles and was very well priced for a mid range unit I don't know if it was a lemon or windows 8.1was to blame but it was my worst nightmare had to do 2 factory resets which were performed by my companies IT head he cloned hard drive prior to resets also I finally after years and years bought a back up drive more on this later anyhow I wasn't happy with the dells performance very slow for a machine wit an I7 5th generation proceser also have I pad and I phone both solid state devices so started considering replacing factory hard drive with internal SSD drive until night of horror was leaving for international business trip in morning and laptop started freaking out was to late to have company IT guy do factory reset and clone hard drive so I called Dell customer service big mistake besides taking 45 minutes to go threw telephone maze to get right service or more like wrong service expert who said only way to fix major problems was to do another factory reset but first put all my data 500GIGS worth on my backup drive which would take 6 hours than do reset than reinstall data another 7 hours I was between a rock and a hard place I had to catch a flight in the morning halfway around the world and had presentations and files necessary on my laptop to make a long story short she messed up big time and lost so much important data I went on my trip I rebuilt proposals an presentations which were saved to my desktop which she totally lost Dell never again I don't know how they stay in business with such horrible customer service and hardware . So when I returned I decided I was going to return the Dell and either buy an apple product even though I'm an old dog that doesn't learn new tricks or the very best windows laptop whatever the cost penny wise dollar foolish so I returned the Dell and purchased the Lenova Yoga 2 14 inch with an I5 processor and a 256 GB SSD that night I read the reviews and saw that a lot of people said the same thing after a few months the machine would start bugging out on them and they had to do factory resets than I started reading the reviews on the brand new HP Spectre I didn't even open the Lenovo I went back to beast buy returned the Lenovo and purchased the top of line HP Spectre with a 512 GB SSD and I 7 processor with a 4k screen so far I love it I'm still learning its features and windows 10 I think the only issue so far is the battery life which was promised is a few hours less depending what I'm doing on the machine but still far supreme to any battery life I've ever had before I get approximately 7 to 8 hours will call HP about it also took a little time to get used to mouse pad configuration on this sleek super fast sports car of a laptop the craftsmanship and build quality are so rich and sleek the size is perfect so far very happy will buy one for my daughter in college who has been using MACS her whole life but needs a windows based system for the business courses she's taking.

This was actually better than expected. I was deciding between this, the Lenovo Yoga3 and actually the MacBook Pro (not seriously considering the Mac, but had to look). I like that this had the full i7 5th Gen processer. The Yoga3 of the same size only had the M processor, which I didn't want, but I liked the smaller screen size. Touch screen is responsive and actually kinda nice to use when lazily reading or playing around. For typing the keyboard is good size and lays well. Performance has been fantastic, and the boot times on the SSD are great. I like the computer more than I anticipated. I was holding off on a new one because I had my old one tweaked perfectly. This does well. I use Start8 to use the desktop like any pre Win8 computer. Curious to see how Win10 goes on July 29 with the free upgrade.

Like it over all, but the HDMI doesn't power a Samsung 40" 2160p Smart 4K Ultra HD TV (MODEL: UN40HU6950). (My HP ZBook 14 does just fine, so it looks like it is the video card in the Spectre x360.) The high res screen on the Spectre is also interesting with the magnification it has to do within Windows to make it functional. Hopefully they get it better with Windows 10, but for now, that's a bit of a pain. Battery life is great overall, and the build quality is excellent. So is the integration with Windows 8.1. Very fast start ups and great performance. Appreciate that the keyboard shuts down in tablet mode so you aren't bumping keys while using the touch screen.

Same dimensions as a 14 inch mac book, but so much more power. It's about as twice as thick as a mac book air, but you're getting a touch screen with digitzer, a foldable hinge and a lot of ports 3 USB ports Full size SD card Full HDMI mini Display port backlit keyboard This laptop is the laptop the macbook pro should be. Full Core i7 power with 512. Compared to a surface pro 3. The Pen for the surface pro 3 is better than the x360, but you don't have to deal with the keyboard detaching. You can also tilt the screen for the x360 back to exact spot you need. Extra wide touchpad is a bit wierd, but not bothersome From fully off to Power on in about 5 seconds Biggest complaint i.e 4 instead of 5 stars. The fan can get bit annoying. Is this laptop for you? Do you like the Surface pro, but wish it had more ports. Get the x360 I like the Macbook, but I hate MacOS/ I need a touch screen. Get x360 Do you need a laptop more often than you need a tablet - Get x360. I want a tablet more often than i need a laptop- Surface Pro 3

The reason I chose this laptop was not ideal (had a return snafu that left me with tons of credit), but I could not have hoped for such a good solution. The build quality on the laptop is top-notch and the hard drive and processor make for a very snappy performance. I also like the pen support available (both the hp active stylus and the dell active stylus 5(aagn model) work with the screen and provide a very good drawing and writing experience. I use both and find them quite useful in my classes. My only complaint I have with this computer is that it seems to run quite hot quite often, for no discernable reason, which can make it uncomfortable to use directly in the lap in standard mode. In tablet, tent or stand modes its not an issue, as the vents are not directed towards the user. Not a dealbreaker by a long shot, but something to bear in mind.

We had a 3 yr. old HP laptop with windows 7, and have had NO problems with it. We just wanted something as lightweight as possible, without sacrificing anything other than the DVD drive; which we knew we'd have to buy a slimwriter to play DVDs on. After looking at all brands, including Dell, and Lenovo and Microsoft Surface Pros we decided on this new HP Spectre. We got the one with 512 GB of storage. COULDN'T BE HAPPIER. ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS WITH IT. HAVE HAD IT ABOUT A MONTH NOW. 1.It's the lightest one we could get,and not have to put a hub on it to plug in other things(like the Microsoft Surface Pro 3). 2.No problems with the keyboard(like the Lenovos I've read.) 3.It has a solid state drive and is made of aluminum; so thin! Durable! Best hard drive! 4.It is QUALITY. 5.We love the touch screen, and the convertible feature to fold it and use it as a notebook!.6.Absolutely everything works so well on this laptop! IT'S FAST. 7.No problems with the wifi.8.Like the mouse on it.9.We did buy a Microsoft wireless ergonomic keyboard, so when my husband wants to type for awhile he can fold this keyboard back and use that one, and it works great! 10.Love the backlit keyboard. 11.Unlike the Dell convertibles, this keyboard seemed "not too squeezed" and seems large enough for our fingers.Terrific for HP! Oh, and the battery lasts A LONG TIME! No issues with it....great long life battery.

After owning this laptop for about a month, I would have to say I am pretty satisfied with this laptop. Some of the setbacks for other users don't really bother me that much, like the bright keyboard light button and the oversized touch pad(which I actually kind of like). I mainly use music production software and it handles the workload well, besides a few hiccups here and there. I don't really use this as a tablet that much so I can not comment on that point. pros- very solid construction. decent specs, quality for price is very good. beautiful qhd touchscreen. barely any bloatware. cons fan is a little loud when it does turn on but on the bright side this does not happen to often. no room for memory expansion. no usb c port.

Thin, light weight and incredibly fast . The Spectre x360 screen is crystal clear, bright and beautiful. In bright light there is some screen glare but easy to work around. Core I7 under heavy usage does get a bit warm and the fan can be a little loud under full load, but it cools down quickly. Battery life is a little better than normal laptops I have not had any problems running down the battery. Windows 10 is a great update for this ultrabook

Love this computer. Keep in mind my last computer was a Dell XPS from 2003 so really a lot of computers would seem fast to me. Bought this on a recommendation from a techy friend of mine. He told me if you want portability the specs on this were excellent...especially for the price. Also advised against a Mac which was much more expensive with the same specs and limited compared to a PC. Still not sure why Macs are known to be limited but I've heard that before from people way more into computers than me. Anyways, the size of the computer is great and I can take it everywhere I go. I usually have a backpack with me and this fits perfectly without taking anymore room. It is super fast for everything that I need it for. The fact that it came with Kaspersky Internet Security for free was a nice bonus. I've gotten a ton of compliments on it from different people (probably mostly for the look and size). The bottom does get hot after awhile when I really make it work but not unlike any other laptop out there. The 360 degree folding capability came in handy on my recent flights to Italy and New York using on the tray table in the plane. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a fast portable laptop!

I've only had this laptop a few weeks but my initial review seems to support a number of reviews I have read. The laptop has a very good initial build quality. I purchased the I7 with 512 GB SSDs. When compared to other ultra-portables with these specs, the price is several hundred dollars less then those brands. This is a 2 in 1 where the hindge qulaity was also critical. In laptop mode the hinges hold the touchscreen with little give. In tablet mode, the hinges permit 360 degree rotation with out any strain. The keys have decent travel and the keyboard does not flex. You do give up some hard drive speed due to the use of SATA SSD's but most people won't notice. The speakers are also decent but not the quality of traditional laptops because of their placement. That was expected. Lastly the built in camera was on too of the screen, not in the bottom as the top rated ultra-portable. That gives a decent view of the users face when participating in Skype calls.

I had been looking for a Yoga or Yoga-like product for quite some time to replace my existing laptop. I researched and researched and thought possibly the Yoga 3 might be my answer until I found out the Broadwell M processor was quite a bit slower than the I-series Intel processors. Finally I couldn't wait any longer and had decided the Yoga 2 would be the ticket since it had good performance and form factor. While at Best Buy I talked with one of the sales tech guys and he showed me the HP Spectre X360 and WOW, I was really blown away with the build quality and the specs for the money. I think the Yoga 2 may have worked fine, too but I am honestly very impressed with this new convertible laptop and am excited to use it every day! The hinges feel super solid and the screen doesn't flex like a lot of other convertibles. The metal casing adds some weight but it is still very, very portable and I think the high quality of the materials used make up for the slight trade-off in weight. Quality wins out on this one!

Functionality of the laptop is very nice. Battery life is great. I loaded office 2013 on it and it loaded in no time, very fast machine. Only concern is how big the mouse is. Also, this thin laptop does not have a CD drive or a ethernet jack. Needed to purchase a usb adapter because a program that we use off of our server would not work properly on wireless (not the laptop's issue).

I originally bought the 256G drive version of this laptop for my wife. After spending a couple of hours moving her data and configuring it for her I decided I wanted one. I bought a second one with 512G drive the following day. The device is lightweight, fast and responsive. The integrated backlight and button are a nice feature. The battery life lasts and lasts... I get tired of "computing" before I feel the need to charge. I added a Targus docking station so I can use it with my two 23" monitors.

Love this laptop. Very light - I'm very petite but I feel comfortable enough caring it around with one hand like it's nothing at all. Gorgeous display, which to me, is a big deal. Fast processor. No issues there Love the touchscreen, although I'm not new to touchscreen machines The unboxing/packaging really made it seem special (yes, I'm easy..lol) Only thing I wish I could change would be to expand the RAM for 8 gigs to 16. I am a heavy/intensive user so I would like the extra oomphf power!

HP Spectre x360 is a great laptop. As someone who uses it for 2-3 hours a day, I can conveniently go several days without charging it. I am impressed with the touch screen capabilities and tablet features. HOWEVER, if you are looking for a computer with decent speakers, this is NOT your choice. They rattle if you go above 50% volume and they just sound dreadful. That's really my only complaint. Plan on purchasing a decent portable Bluetooth speaker if you're on-the-go and need to project some sound from this laptop.

My use: recording multitrack music, programming, testing/building VMs, Photoshop and media powerhouse. Pros: Beautiful 2560x1440 13.3" screen Backlit keyboard that can be turned on and off with the F5 key Really speedy 2 core i7 with 8GB RAM (up to 16) Super fast SSHD for multitasking Flat all glass touch screen Decent battery life (5+ with moderate usage) and quick charge Comes with a nice sleeve to protect the outside from scratches and dings Cons: Must use 'Fn' key to access function keys (F1-F12) 13.3" screen is a little large in convertible mode for holding in an arm (for me, at least) Overall: Better buy than the Surface Pro 3 and it's cheaper. The Spectre x360 is a great laptop for a relatively demanding user and would buy one again. Have recommended it to colleagues as well.

It's very fast and versatile has tons of space and its great for college. The touch screen is very responsive. What I don't like about it it's that it heats up but not for long and its very light, I'm afraid it can break easily if dropped. It looks very sleek but the material that's made of doesn't seem durable. I think overall if you take care of it this 2in1 can last a while.

I purchased this laptop primarily for web surfing, listening to music, and watching movies while traveling. Just after purchasing, I upgraded to Win10 with no performance or driver issues at all. It's ran flawlesly, although the bottom left casing tends to get a little warm after periods of extended usage due to the cpu cooling port being on that side. It's not a big issue at all, but I do realize the heat is there after a while and simply shift the laptop around a little maybe once an hour. This laptop was a replacement for a Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro, so I wanted a higher-end product with good portability and performance. This HP Spectre blows the Yoga 3 Pro out of the water in so many ways! No lag or hangups with the mouse pointer frozen, etc. and I can actually run multiple things at once again. I wouldn't hesitate recommending this laptop to anyone that is looking at a model in a similar price range. This is my first HP laptop and I have no regrets on the purchase.
