    My best laptop so far

I've owned a succession of laptops over the years, small Sony Vaio, Toshiba tablet, 17" HP, etc. plus a big and mini iPad. This Spectre (I7, 8GB, 512GB) strikes the perfect balance for me. Fast, beautiful QHD display, not too big, not too small, cool sitting on my lap, light and easy to travel with, rugged and stylish metal case. A pleasant surprise was it came with a padded sleeve to use for travel. The power cord brick is as small as I've seen. I use it for the usual productivity apps plus software development and some 3D CAD work. It's equally at home on my lap in my Lazy Boy or on a hotel desk. I hesitate to say it's perfect but it's the best I've ever had and I can't find any faults after a couple months use.

I like that it's very light, but also very fast. Boots up quickly, and does everything I need. I did upgrade to 8.1 Pro, because I'll need workplace connections. The only negative is all the bloatware that HP loads on it. Took a while to get it off the machine.

Way Better than the Yoga 3 Pro

I initially bought the Yoga 3 Pro, because of its weight and because I read the new m Intel processor was the newest. Well, it turned out the m processor is better to make a laptop thinner, but it's definetly not better in performance. So I exchanged the Yoga for the x360 (Intel core i7 processor) and there lied the difference. Besides, better looks. Only 30 grams heavier but I prefer performance over lightness. The only thing is that aluminum body when stained is not easy to clean.

Great computer for our family's needs

The Spectre has fulfilled our expectations as a school computer for our son and a general use computer for the family. It is lightweight so it is easy for him to carry around the school. With previous computers, he has always insisted on using a mouse, but he finds the track pad on this one easy to use. It has a good Internet connection and fast processor speeds, although when it occasionally drops the connection, it is difficult to reconnect - but I think that is a function of the Windows 8.1 platform as I have similar issues with my own Windows 8.1 computer. The touch screen works well and the ability of the screen to rotate to different positions is helpful when I am helping him with his school work.

I have had my Spectre x360 now for a little while and I must admit that I simply love this machine. It is very easy to use (other than Windows 8.1 soon to be upgraded to 10) and the features are excellent. The computer is rock solid for performing tasks and boots up in no time. The battery life is very long. So far I have nothing bad to say about this product and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a serious upgrade.

After MUCH research i purchased the Spectre x360. I wanted something with a good processor, solid state drive, compact, good display, and 2 in 1 was a bonus. It came down to the Spectre and the Dell XPS with touchscreen. The resolution on the XPS was insane, but not necessarily practical for my purposes. The lesser price and 2 in 1 capability of the Spectre ultimately won out. Honestly, this may be too much laptop for me. However I love the build quality of this laptop and the size. Yes it's supposedly a little heavier than some, but that doesn't bother me a bit. I also like knowing I won't be running out in 3 months to buy another laptop because technology has made this obsolete. After about a month of use, I have to say this may be one of the best all around laptops available.

Coming from a Yoga 2 pro fan, this is a step up although his laptop needs a skin to make it as grip friendly. The heavier weight, and harder edge where the wrists rest are mostly not noticed after a week. Some complain about the track-pad right click being "far" right, but that relearns quickly. The battery life is better than the Yoga 2 pro but mostly noticed at low screen brightness. Boot and shut down time is killer. I'm diggin it. Begs for a bios update that turns the overly bright white keyboard led indicator light OFF and the ridiculous ORANGE mute indicator off. Thats the dirty on a pretty flippin clean laptop.

Screen is amazing, backlit keyboard is fantastic. Computer is fast, everything is working perfectly. Amazing as a laptop, even better as a tablet. I also use it "tented" for a tabletop display at trade shows.

This laptop is lightweight, powerful and energy efficient. The cooling fan ran constantly until I switched to power saver mode. This setting makes the processor slightly slower, but it's worth it to me in exchange for a much quieter machine.

This laptop is awesome. I travel all the time it is very lightwieght, is very durable have not been able to bog it down a great deal. Easily stowed away, and the battery lasts about 7 hours. I do not watch a bunch of movies or anything mostly word and excel so far.

Prior to purchasing this laptop I had owned an old HP Pavilion dv6t for 4+ years, so needless to say I was ready for an upgrade. I researched multiple laptops before purchasing the HP Spectre x360, and decided to buy the Spectre instead of a Macbook Pro or the Dell XPS 13. The Spectre surpasses my expectations with screen responsiveness/resolution, battery life, and performance. I choose to purchase the QHD version instead of the HD because I am a photographer and felt that more screen real estate would help with my profession. It definitely does! I am in love with the sharpness of the screen; it makes editing photos a breeze as well as streaming Netflix and social media. The battery life lasts all day even when I am running Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop often, and using Google Chrome throughout the day. I probably only get around 7-8 hours with a full charge, but this is a big improvement from what I am used to and easily gets me through my work day. I chose the Spectre over other laptops because of the small size of the entire laptop, the screen resolution, the battery life, and the price. I got all of the specifications I wanted for less than the Macbook and Dell. My only complaints are that the bottom of the laptop will run hot when running multiple programs at once, and the fan is quite noticeable as well. The bottom becomes hot enough that it feels uncomfortable on my legs, causing me to put a pillow something underneath it. This problem is not big enough to be a major red flag, it's just something to be noted. The fan, while not incredibly loud like my old Pavilion, is noticeable. The more I use my Spectre the less I am aware of the fan, but I still can hear the fan most of the time. Overall I am incredibly pleased with the versatility and performance of the HP Spectre x360. Definitely recommend!!

I bought this laptop needing a desktop replacement. I have always built my own desktops, so giving it up was not easy. This laptop made the transition easy and fun. Love the fact that it has plenty of power, touch screen feature is great, and plenty of fast ssd storage to boot. I'm looking forward to the free Windows 10 upgrade as well. The only con is getting use to battery life. That's me, not the computer. Again, I'm a desktop guy so the portability is awesome, after 8 hours you forget you need to plug up... LoL. Anyway, it's great and I recommend it to anyone looking for a super lightweight computer. It has integrated graphics but I haven't seen anything that would warrant an independent card as of yet.

Selected over the Lenovo Yoga Pro 3

Purchased for my daughter for senior high school and early college. I have the Lenovo Yoga Pro 2 and was considering the Pro 3, but they moved to the Core M chip (and not that great of an implementation) so performance suffered and battery life was not improved. The specs on the two are very similar. The hinge on the Yoga Pro 3 is cool, but the x360 works very well. I like the more square edges of the Yoga, but the curved edges on the x360 (and slightly heavier weight) are not bad, but fold it as a tablet and compare the two. The x360 has better ports than the Yoga 3P. When I bought the x360, I had to get the 512GB SSD version as they raised the price of the 256GB SSD version above the list price to make it just under the other price (supply/demand). [I checked last week and they lowered it back down to the standard list price.] The side effect was that I wanted the 1920x1080 resolution of the 256 instead of the higher res version (did not realize that this 512 version had the quadHD screen until reading the label at the register). Windows 8 does not do well with the high res (as I found out with the Yoga 2 Pro). Hopefully Windows 10 (which will be a free upgrade) will address this problem. The screen, however, is fantastic. The performance is as expected, and is better than the Yoga P3. Both have 5Gen chips, but the i7 vs the Core M makes a difference, including a better graphics version (HD 5500 vs HD 5300). The wider touchpad may take some getting use too, but my daughter initially likes the larger size. The Windows button is on the side (near the volume buttons) instead of at the bottom of the touchscreen. Don't know if I like that, as I just got use to (and now like) having the Windows button with heptic feedback at the bottom of the screen. If you are looking for an ultrabook implementation that folds as a tablet, this is currently the best implementation.

I needed a medium sized, light weight laptop to take minutes on and as a back-up computer for work. My hands are large and the 10" netbooks are not comfortable typing for me. I also wanted a tablet for reading and so planned to buy a detachable. However, after seeing this one in the store, I found it more attractive, and not that much heavier than machines with the detachable keyboard. For me, the Spectre 360 works for both. The keyboard is comfortable to type quickly on. The machine is reasonably light. The battery lasted me through a 6 hour day away from base with power to spare so I didn't need the transformer. The screen is crisp and I enjoy reading on it. I normally get many years of use from my equipment and am in the habit of ordering and replacing laptop batteries. Like many smaller laptops, the battery in the Spectre 360 is not removable by the customer; I am concerned about that long term, which is why the 4 stars, not 5.

I purchased this laptop as a lightweight replacement for my HP elitebook that was getting slow and very heavy. It may not be as light as a Macbook or Macbook Air but its power more that makes up for it! Super Fast, Touch Screen is a great addition as well. My only complaint would be that they offered a 1080p screen with the 512gb storage option. Most business focused apps aren't visually appealing at resolutions over 1080p yet...

I am so happy with my new computer. My old one died on me in college. I am a computer science major and so I needed something powerful and that could last me a long time (computers are a big investment). It does everything I need it to do. There have been some glitches, but I don't know if it is with the computer apps or the computer itself. Its not bad and its not often so I just deal with it. Nothing in Life is 100 % perfect but this laptop/tablet is pretty close. P.S the warrenty is 100% worth it. I used bestbuy warrenty on a camera I had and they completely replaced it almost a year and a half later with the newer version because they didnt sell the older one.

When my 2 year old business laptop died suddenly (on a Monday morning of course) I was in a bind. This HP laptop fit what I was looking for (fast processor for data analytics processing that I do for work, good SSD storage space for rapid boot and reasonable storage, touch screen and 2-in-1 function to support travel, quad HD display is great). Windows 10 update went fine. My only complaint is that the sound (like most laptops) is not great - when docked I used external speakers. As a bonus, the Spectre has 2 HDMI connectors (1 full size, 1 mini) allowing me to run 3 displays (2 external monitors plus the integrated display) for my work.

I purchased on 4/9/2015 to replace a Lenovo X1 Carbon (Gen2) that died and was 2 months past warranty. I quickly needed a new laptop. I am very pleased with the HP Spectre X360 13.3" IPS 2560 x 1440 display resolution. MS Office 2013 applications are easy to see. Operation is relatively cool during intensive processor activity. Fan is nearly silent. 512GB SSD drive is worth the price as I have a lot of 3rd party software and data file storage. 3 x USB 3.0 Ports are very useful when operating a printer, wireless mouse, and the J5 Create Ethernet Adapter. Keyboard has good response and the keys are backlit. With the keyboard backlight off, the function key symbol remains lit (good feature). Robust construction of the laptop is worth slight weight increase. HP Spectre X360 weight of 3.32 lb.is slightly heavier than my dead Lenovo X1 Carbon at 3.19 lb. I now have the option of using the tablet form factor. Based on my experience with laptops, disconnect charger and turn off laptop during hours of inactivity. Maintain periodic battery charging if laptop will not be used for several months. Recommend buying a Best Buy 2 year warranty that can also be renewed. Overall Good value for money.
