This is a comprehensive and balanced package for a masters student like me, who wants good CPY and GPU. Having NVIDIA RTX 4050 at this price with Ryzen 7 processor, is definitely a good deal. Would recommend tom people who has similar work in engineering or other related academic background.

HP Victus 15.6″ Gaming Laptop Review

Pros: Strong gaming performance at 1080p; can run modern titles smoothly (e.g. ~100 FPS in Doom, ~90 FPS in Cyberpunk) Sleek, minimalist design (unlike flashier gaming laptops) 144 Hz IPS display looks good and smooth for action. Good value: high-end specs (Ryzen 7, RTX 4050) at a mid-range price Quiet during everyday use (fans almost silent when idle) bestbuy.com Cons: Battery life is short (~2–5 hours); need to stay plugged in for gaming Only 512 GB SSD – may need to upgrade for many big games Fans get loud under heavy load (common in gaming laptops) No high-end display features (no HDR/G-Sync). In summary, the HP Victus 15.6″ (Ryzen 7 7445HS, RTX 4050) offers excellent value for mid-tier gaming. It’s ideal for gamers on a budget who want smooth 1080p performance without the look of typical gaming laptops. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a solid gaming notebook at this price point – just keep a charger handy. I plan to update this review after a year of use to report on long-term performance and reliability. Based on what I’ve seen so far and the consensus of other reviewers, I expect it will hold up well for my needs.

Good for cost, great for sale price! Solid Machine

The RAM is upgradeable to 64 Gigabytes of DDR5-5600, which I personally decided to install the Corsair Vengeance series, with many sites and even Geek Squad saying 32GB max, which is simply false. So far so good. I ran into a minor BSOD issue, which the VRAM and GPU chip were not being recognized, but this was able to be resolved by updating the driver to the latest version (577.00 at time of writing). A little background for me includes working at IBM on server systems, systems testing, and scale management, along with working as a Managed Service Provider (contracted IT), Cybersecurity Specialist, and Network Administrator. I know what I'm doing with machines, to say the least. I will update this review approximately 6 months from purchase, which was on July 11, 2025 and shipment received on July 12, 2025. This machine is quite good for the cost on sale ($649.99), especially considering you get a dedicated GPU (dGPU) with 6GB of VRAM. This is good for lower-mid level graphics work, which is what I will be using this for. I installed some upgraded RAM modules so that I can work with multiple large applications at once, however, the installed 16GB of HP branded RAM and the dGPU is sufficient for gaming on High Settings (definitely not Ultra) in many of the newer AAA games at reasonable FPS. This machine is good for students who might want to play some games to decompress after some studying, or business workers for a bit extra power for the more demanding tasks. I strongly urge anyone who wants to use this for business or gaming to upgrade the operating system to the Pro version, so that you have more granular control over what runs, efficiency, and various settings that aren't available in the Home/Student version that is pre-installed (you can find deals on this with some searching). So far this has handled video (at 1080p/120fps) and photo (at 3840×2160) editing and some work in Blender with ease, and not a whole lot of resource usage. For the less technical, this works quite well for Full HD video editing and very smooth motion, and 4K photo editing with high detail and color accuracy. Blender is used for animation work, which typically requires some precision to which this is capable of. It doesn't get hot, and it hasn't reached its potential maximum workload. I haven't put this through my full testing yet, so I will update with more detailed information later as previously mentioned. All in all, this seems to be a pretty good machine for the price I paid. HP was making some mistakes with their product quality for a while, but it seems they have corrected that recently. The build quality is pretty solid, which is a dense thermal resistant plastic. The internal cooling fans (there are 2 blower style) seemed to be pretty quiet when I hit 78% GPU load. When I took off the bottom plate to install the RAM modules, the components seemed quite well organized, particularly for cooling purposes. Now for the relatively bad news: The USB-C port is only USB-C 3.0, which is capable of 5 Gigabits per second max downstream transfer... I would hope for at least USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 or USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 for 10 Gbps, but it doesn't seem to be in most HP devices (at least not yet). I'm not expecting USB4 or Thunderbolt 3/4 in a lower cost machine, but some older standards should be reasonable enough in my opinion, which it is sadly lacking. The Type-A ports are both 3.0, so at least it's that much, but again, 3.1 would have been nice. As for the minor BSOD issue mentioned earlier, I'm calling that an NVIDIA/Win 11 issue, and not a machine issue since it was easily resolved with a driver update through the NVIDIA console. Now for the good news (because you don't get dessert without your veggies first): This machine is good for the money I paid and rather decent for the full retail cost of $899.99. It's capable of a reasonably high workload, even with the pre-installed 16 GB of RAM (2×8GB modules). It's fast enough for some reasonable gaming at 80-110 FPS for many newer games. Overall Score: 8 out of 10 - Good but not excellent 1 point for price ratio (max 2 - 1 for full retail price to what you get) 2 points for build quality (max 2) 2 points for components (max 2) 1 point for features (max 2 - 1 for lack of updated USB) 2 points for expectations met (max 2) I hope this is helpful for any readers, and I made sure to judge things as fair as I can. Update to come.

I recently picked up the HP Victus with the Ryzen 7 processor and RTX 4050 GPU, and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. The performance on this laptop is incredible for the price—fast boot times, smooth multitasking, and gaming that feels surprisingly high-end for a mid-range machine. The Ryzen 7 handles productivity tasks effortlessly, and the 4050 delivers impressive frame rates on modern titles without running too hot or loud. The build quality is solid, the keyboard feels great to type on, and the screen is crisp and vibrant enough for both work and play. What really made this experience outstanding, though, was the help I received at Best Buy. The staff took the time to walk me through different models, answer all my questions, and make sure I chose the laptop that genuinely fit my needs instead of just pushing a sale. Their knowledge and patience made the whole process smooth and stress-free. Thanks to them, I walked out completely confident in my choice—and now that I’ve used the HP Victus for a while, I can say they absolutely steered me right. Overall, highly recommended laptop and equally excellent service from Best Buy!

I recently purchased the HP Victus from Best Buy, and I am incredibly impressed with the value this laptop offers. It delivers a near-premium experience without the premium price tag. What I love: Performance: The CPU/GPU combination handles demanding modern games and heavy multitasking (like video editing or complex data analysis) with ease. It runs cool and quiet under normal load, which is a huge plus. Display: The screen is sharp, bright, and the high refresh rate (if applicable to your model) makes a huge difference in fast-paced gaming and general smooth scrolling. Design: It strikes the perfect balance between a professional work laptop and a gaming rig. The sleek, minimalist design doesn't scream "gamer," which I appreciate for business use. Keyboard: The keyboard is comfortable and responsive for long typing sessions and gaming. This laptop is a fantastic investment for anyone needing a powerful machine for both productivity and entertainment. Highly recommend!

I’ve been using this HP Victus laptop for a while now, and it has been a really good experience so far. The screen is very smooth thanks to the 144Hz refresh rate, which makes my games feel much more responsive. Because it has a Ryzen 7 processor and 16GB of memory, it never slows down even when I have lots of tabs open. The RTX 4050 graphics card makes everything look crisp, and I’ve had no trouble running my favourite titles. I also think the Mica Silver colour looks really smart and professional. One small downside is that the 512GB storage fills up quite fast if you have a lot of large games. Overall, it is just a really reliable device that works well for both fun and serious tasks.
