At sub-$500 this is a fantastic deal. The display is crisp with vivid colors and a high refresh rate. Even under heavy load the chassis stays cool, and fans are quiet by gaming laptop standards.
The system is easily upgradable (both ram and SSD) which is a huge plus as even many corporate grade machines use soldered memory these days.
The keyboard has decent travel for a laptop and is comfortable to type on.

I’ve been using the HP Victus 15.6" (Ryzen 7, RTX 4050, 16GB RAM) for a couple of weeks now, and it’s honestly a great machine for the price. It handles all my games really well — smooth performance, no overheating, and the 144Hz display makes everything feel super fluid.
The design is clean and the Mica Silver finish gives it a nice, premium look. I also love how fast it boots up thanks to the SSD. Plenty of ports, solid keyboard, and it stays cool even during long sessions.
If you’re looking for a reliable gaming laptop that won’t break the bank, this one’s a solid choice.

I've used this laptop now for over a month and here are my thoughts:
The Good
Boots up quickly
Good graphics for the price
Mouse pad is passable
Screen is decent
16 gigs ram is enough
Fairly quiet
The Bad
Battery life is pretty short
You will want to upgrade the storage if you have more than a couple games you want to play

The HP Victus 15.6" is a fantastic value‑for‑money gaming laptop that delivers strong performance without breaking the bank. The combination of the AMD Ryzen 7 7445HS and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 makes it capable of running modern games smoothly, especially with the 144Hz Full HD display. Fast‑paced titles feel fluid, and the colors and brightness are solid for both gaming and everyday use.
With 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD, the system feels snappy for multitasking, game loading, and general productivity. The laptop stays surprisingly cool for its class thanks to HP’s improved thermal design, and fan noise is reasonable even during longer gaming sessions.
The Mica Silver finish gives it a clean, premium look without being overly flashy. The keyboard is comfortable for long typing or gaming sessions, and the overall build quality feels sturdy for daily use.
If you’re looking for a laptop that balances performance, design, and price, the HP Victus 15 is a great choice. It handles gaming, streaming, and productivity with ease, making it a reliable all‑rounder for both work and play.

I’ve been using this Victus gaming laptop for several weeks and it’s been impressive. Performance is consistently strong: games run smoothly at high settings, multitasking and streaming don’t slow it down, and load times are quick. The screen is bright with sharp colors and a high refresh rate (model dependent), which makes fast games feel fluid. The keyboard has good travel and feedback for gaming and typing, and the trackpad is responsive. Thermals are handled well — fans ramp up when needed but the chassis stays comfortable. Battery life is reasonable for a gaming laptop (expect to plug in for long sessions). Overall this is a fantastic balance of power, features, and value — especially if you want a capable gaming machine without spending top dollar.

i love gaming but i had to switch from desktop to laptop, due to work; but had to keep it under a budget.so i went from a RTX 3060 Ryzen 5 3600 desktop pc, to this laptop. i had my concerns moving from a 12GB VRAM GPU to a 6GB VRAM mobile GPU, but this works better than expected.
be aware, this is a Ryzen 7 BUT it only has 6 cores 12 threads (just like Ryzen 5 processors), instead of 8 cores 16 threads which i consider the standard for ryzen 7. no issues so far, just feels like false advertising.
now the good stuff, i didn't see a lot of reviews talking about gaming performance for this specific model, even if you can search videos online for similar laptops.
COD black ops 6 multiplayer and zombies - 160+ fps Balanced, DLSS performance.
Warzone - 115-130 fps Balanced, DLSS performance.
Rocket league - didn't check for FPS, but it runs it nice and smoothly (not a demanding game).
Fortnite - 150+ fps.
basically esports titles and less demanding games will work great.
for more demanding games, you have to work thru the settings to have the game look good. i tried Wuchang fallen feathers on high settings and had a lot of frozen screens (didn't check FPS), had to lower down settings and activate DLSS so i could play. haven't try another games but videos are online.
watch out for temps if you are playing demanding games, the laptop gets hot around the middle/right side of the keyboard. planning on buying a cooling pad with fans, in the meantime i put something in the back so this thing can get fresh air.
also think about changing the nvme ssd, 512GB will get full fast. 16GB ram will also need to be upgraded in the near future.
Display looks great, colors are OK. - i had a IPS 120hz 1440p monitor on my desktop, so this is not a good upgrade for me, but gets the job done.

The HP Victus with AMD Ryzen 7 is a great value laptop for everyday use and light-to-moderate gaming. The Ryzen 7 processor and 16GB RAM make it fast, smooth, and reliable for multitasking, office work, browsing, and media. The 512GB SSD keeps boot times quick and apps responsive. The display is decent, the keyboard is comfortable, and overall performance is excellent for the price. Battery life is average, but acceptable for a performance-focused laptop. A solid choice if you want power and affordability in one package.

I’ve been using this laptop for three months now, and honestly, I’m really happy with it. It feels quick and smooth for everyday stuff like browsing, watching videos, and working on documents. Even with multiple tabs open, it doesn’t slow down or feel laggy.
The screen looks clear and bright, which makes it nice for both work and entertainment. The keyboard is comfortable to type on, and the trackpad works well without being overly sensitive. Battery life has been pretty reliable too — it easily lasts through a few hours of steady use without stressing about charging.
It also feels sturdy and well-built, not cheap or flimsy. The design is simple and clean, which I like. Overall, it’s been a dependable laptop for my daily needs, and I feel like I got good value for what I paid. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re looking for something reliable for school, work, or everyday use.

I’ve been really impressed with the HP Victus 15.6" Gaming Laptop for the price. It’s definitely considered a budget gaming laptop, but it performs much better than I expected. The combination of the AMD Ryzen 7 7445HS, 16GB of RAM, and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 provides solid performance for modern games.
Running games at 1080p native resolution, I’m able to get very playable frame rates on medium settings in most titles, and even some higher settings depending on the game. The 144Hz display also makes gameplay feel smoother, especially in faster-paced games.
The design is clean and simple with the Mica Silver finish, which I like because it doesn’t have the overly flashy gaming look. The system feels responsive overall thanks to the 512GB SSD, though serious gamers may eventually want more storage.
Overall, if you’re looking for a good gaming laptop at a reasonable price, this is a great option. It won’t replace a high-end gaming machine, but for the cost it delivers excellent performance and a smooth gaming experience.

Have a Desktop at home but since I was living somewhere for 6 months I had to find something more portable and not too expensive but can run games like a champ! And then found this bad boy! Only thing is memory but how it performs. That doesnt bother me since I only play like 2-3 Games heavy. Performs, sounds quiet, bought a fan for it so I don’t have to worry, and looks GREAT!

The performance is impressive for the price — it handles modern games smoothly at high settings, and the 144Hz display makes everything feel super responsive. was looking for an inexpensive gaming computer and this was right in my price range. the graphics were just what i needed since i primarily just play the sims 4. it was also in the store while i was shopping so i got to take it home that night and the salespersons were very helpful and walked me thru what it does and also through buying it. the battery is okay. i keep it primarily plugged in, but it might be because i am playing a game that it dies quick? but it's a gaming laptop so idk. but im not worried about it and it doesn't reduce my use of the computer. i don't have any pictures, but the computer is a good size, and fits in my lap. one of the good things about This computer is the number key pad. i was also very excited to see that because i can't stand when a computer doesn't have that. so it's everything that i expect and want in a computer in one. the speed, especially while playing the sims, is so much better than all the other computers ive owned. there are a lot of loading screens in that game, and i don't spend more than 5 seconds where on my other non-gaming computer, it would take 10 seconds or more. it can handle the graphics of an actual PC on a laptop which is really nice. i haven't had any problems with the display. would absolutely recommend this to anyone who isn't a big gamer and also someone looking for a gaming computer that isn't 2000 dollars. there is also a light up keyboard if you press the function for it, which i find helpful in the dark

Although battery life isn’t the best it is still a very good powerful laptop. It ran games way better than I expected as long as you adjust a couple settings and keep it plugged in. I would recommend more storage than 500gb if u plan to play many games or store heavy files. There is a couple things that could make it better but nothing too significant of a change but other than that I would definitely recommend.

I love it. Fast, doesn’t get bottle necked and lightweight compared to others its size. The only issue I have is the battery life. Battery life is ok. Overall I love it.

The machine works well overall. The 4050 card is not very strong, but pairing with a 1080p screen is a good choice. It has DLSS support and FrameGen which really helps it out in newer titles. With those set on, you get good graphics (medium or even high settings) at 75+ FPS at 1080P, which is fully acceptable for the price point I paid (sub 600).
The machine does come with a lot of bloatwear that eats into your 16GB of RAM. I would suggest disabling/uninstalling it. McAfee is terrible with resource usage, suggest disabling and just using Windows Defender. Also HPs gaming hub is a huge memory hog and offers nothing useful, so I disabled that as well. Doing the optimizations will get base memory usage below 50%, which leaves 8GB for gaming, which is sufficient.
The one complaint (which wouldn't be one now due to increases in NVME/SSD costs), but it would have been nice to have a 1TB drive option with the same specs for the rest of the system. 512GB doesn't hold many games anymore, so I am sure I will need an external drive at some point.
Overall, however, this is an excellent machine at the sale point I grabbed it at.

This is a decent laptop especially for the price. This was bought to replace a laptop that my son was using which began to die. So far every game he's thrown at it has run without issues and smoothly at 60+ frames, from CoD to Minecraft, even Silent Hill F at max quality. It has decent space which can be easily upgraded, along with the ram. one of the few features it has that I like is the backlit keys just press FN and F5 to turn it on. Still, this is a very good laptop for the price and suits my sons needs very well and then some. The screen is bright and vivid, it's quick and responsive. The keys are a bit soft but very responsive. The size is good too it's not heavy and is thin. The only gripe I personally have is that there is only a 3 USBs and 1 USB-C. I had to buy a hub to include a few other periphials. Overall I suggest this laptop for entry-mid tier gaming, especially if you can get it on sale.

The colors on the screen are super vibrant even if it's only 60% rgb. As per usual Windows and HP Services might be a bit buggy in the first week but that's totally normal. Pros: is lightweight, it's design is super sleek it looks quite premium even if it's plastic. The performance is so smooth and fast. Also pretty good performance with games.

I’ve been using the HP Victus 15.6" (144Hz, Ryzen 7 7445HS, RTX 4050, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD) for a while now, and it has exceeded all my expectations. The Ryzen 7 7445HS delivers incredibly smooth performance, and paired with the RTX 4050, this laptop handles modern games on high settings without breaking a sweat. The 144Hz Full HD display is crisp, vibrant, and makes fast-paced games look buttery smooth.
Multitasking is effortless thanks to the 16GB of memory, and the 512GB SSD keeps everything fast—from boot times to launching games and apps. The Mica Silver design looks sleek and premium without being flashy, and the keyboard is comfortable for long gaming or work sessions.
Overall, this laptop hits the perfect balance of power, thermals, and build quality at a great price. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable gaming laptop that performs far above its class!

Ok, the pc itself is not bad, works for any purpose with some previous small adjustments, but their factory software make it bad ON purpose. The laptop itself have 2 fans on the Middle of the LEFT side of the pc (weird), but have fins on all the way of the back side near the hinge and on the back, pretty good cooling system so far and light to bring back and forth anytime.
Now the true review and why 3 stars, the factory software, the fans from the cooling system are good, but for some reason run at 1800rpm~ until reaching 45C°, running pretty hot but not using even half max fan power, why? Just for battery? To keep the noise low maybe? Ok alright, let me change it or have options for a more aggresive fan curve while using the 120w charging brick but NO, there is no way to do it out of the box, Omen Gaming Hub software(the HP command software) only have 3 options for that specific model and the performance for some reason while other models have more options. Those are Eco, Silent and Standard for performance and they are NOT that generous with the fans (we can also use "Max" option for the fans and max should be the way to go to preserve the components but 5400rpm just for idle all the time is insane, loud and the fans will give up before they are really needed), the BIOS doesn't help and doesn't let you do almost anything even updated(01/07/2025), fans? Nope. Desactivate dgpu? Nope. Use the Dgpu like the main device for the display? Nope.
Now the performance, the performance is surprisingly good for a 35w CPU(maybe because it's 4nm?) and 50w dGPU(yeah, 50w while gaming and video editing while plugged), you have two ways to do the job, via APU(Radeon 740M) for battery life or dGPU(RTX4050) for maximum power, while it is good that you have more ways to do the job, for some reason you can't choose between them completely to turn off the other, not via software or BIOS, you will always have turned on the APU and dGPU and that will reduce the laptop battery (Maybe there is no way to do it by pure internal design? Hope not) but the only good thing is that you can delegate specific works when needed via Windows or Nvidia Software for battery life or max performance or even both! (by default unplugged and even sometimes plugged with the power brick it will use the APU but you can overwrite that via software), also the laptop display is connected directly to the APU so there is sometimes a bottleneck while passing graphical work to the dGPU BUT you can bypass this and only use the dGPU when using a external screen via HDMI, why? No idea.
This is review is completely superficial and some of the "problems" maybe could be fixed with third party softwares, Changing OS and even BIOS updates/modifications but for now they don't give a way to do it out of the box not even in a hard way (or i haven't find any so far), i'll keep the device and maybe change the review if they fix this via software but for now... Hard to recommend for just anyone.

The HP Victus with Ryzen 7 and RTX 4050 is a great value gaming laptop. It runs modern games smoothly at 1080p with a 144 Hz display, has 16GB RAM and a fast 1TB SSD, and keeps good thermals. The design is clean and portable, making it useful for both gaming and everyday work. While the RTX 4050 is entry-level and may need medium settings on very demanding games, overall it offers excellent performance for the price.
