Great laptop, a steal on sale
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While this computer can't handle AI work loads, it runs all the games I've thrown at it very well. It's fast and responsive. Wish it had more ram but I got it on sale and frankly for the price, I'm impressed. Plus it is DDR5. Battery life isn't the greatest, I took a online test for around a hour and it went down to 45% from 100%. I had it on power saver mode as well. I'm sure if I disabled the video card it would last longer. Thankfully the CPU comes with integrated graphics so that is an option. Wish it could charge with USB C but the charger that came with it isn't bulky. I've had macbook airs, macbook pro, Lenovos, and several dells; this has been the best bang for my buck so overall this computer is great for someone that wants a functional gaming laptop. Lastly, not a big fan of the track pad, use a mouse.

Great buy (if you wait for it to go on sale).
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had originally been looking for a low priced desktop with a dedicated GPU to help speed up 3D rendering in some non-gaming apps that I use. That search ended quickly with the outrageously high GPU prices. I decided to check into gaming laptops and I stumbled upon this laptop for $450 (on sale) and decided it would fit the bill and was well within budget. I easily upgraded to 32GB of RAM and this laptop is actually a pretty decent spec'd system for the money. The dedicated GPU works well for what I need. The GPU with only 4GB of VRAM might be a bottleneck for most AAA gaming titles, but it's fine for what I need with 3D modeling. If you can find it on sale, it's a great budget gaming laptop.

I bought this for my 11 year old son. he hasn't played it much but wifi seems slow. overall decent build quality, but the screen is kinda washed out. speakers a quiet. the battery life seems weird when's its fully charged it says under 3 hours left that's without anything running. also its kinda loud and the fan runs a lot. for half price its worth it but full price im unsure. runs Roblox fine but he's says its lags on Fortnite

HP Victus 15.6
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using the HP Victus 15.6" Gaming Laptop for a little while now, and I’m really impressed with its performance. The AMD Ryzen 5 7535HS chip and 8GB of DDR5 RAM handle gaming and everyday tasks with ease, making it perfect for both work and play. The AMD Radeon RX 6550M graphics deliver smooth visuals for most games, and the 512GB SSD means everything loads quickly without feeling sluggish. The Full HD display looks sharp, and I love the sleek Mica Silver finish—it gives the laptop a stylish, modern vibe. Overall, it’s been a great choice for me, balancing both power and design at a reasonable price.

Good Mid-Range Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought it during Black Friday this year (2024) & had it for a week so far. It's pretty good, the only downside is the 8GB of RAM, but it can still play most games pretty well. I mostly am using it for older games, but it can play Arkham Knight, Witcher 3, & Cyberpunk 2077 on mid-low settings at 1080p with a good framerate or high if you don't mind lower framerates, but the fans get kind of loud, so I'd stick with mid-low settings at 1080p or 720p with high settings. I might upgrade the RAM later down the line, but for right now it's doing well enough out of the box. It's definitely great for indie & retro gaming & also great for non-gaming stuff like streaming. The price was also really good & you can't really find much better in that price range. Plus. it's an HP & my last HP laptop was also really good, but it was old & I needed an upgrade.

Impressive for the money.
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My Legion Slim which I had for several years unexpectedly died during a bios update. I also used that laptop for my primary work device so I needed to buy something cheap and quick. The Victus was on sale at the time for $450 so i picked it up out of necessity more than anything else. Bought a 16gb ram stick for $45 so was $500 all in. The Good: After using it for a few months I have been pleasantly surprised with the bang for your buck this device offers. I travel a decent amount and like to have something I can play games with after work and this device does an admirable job at that. For work, battery life is about 4ish hours for productivity which is generally enough more me and better than my legion. No problem driving two external monitors and more than enough power for productivity tasks. In terms of gaming has been perfectly fine for the games I like to play: frost punk, stellaris, hell divers (on lower settings). Since you will definitely be putting additional ram in this, the back panel is easily accessible and ram and storage can be accessed with little effort. Pretty light for a 16 inch gaming laptop and excellent cooling. The Bad: The screen is not the greatest, has some bloom and could be brighter. 8gb is not enough ram, luckily ram is cheap and the install is easy. No thunderbolt is a bit of a hassle if you want to use this as a work machine. This most unforgivable sin is no usb C charging which should be standard at this point. It only takes HP chargers and is finicky about accepting 3rd party ones. Left my charger at home once during a conference and this became a major headache. Overall: The value on this machine is incredible when its $450 or lower. It's not going to run everything on highest settings or have the most beautiful screen. but at that price you won't find a better budget gaming laptop, let alone a laptop generally. I could really see this being a great first laptop for a kid or a budget solution for a student who also wants to game some. If you only have $500 to spend you can't really do better.

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Honestly very impressed! It’s powerful enough to play gta v at high-ultra settings at 70fps. I did upgrade the ram to 16gbs. Only downside is the battery life that could have been a little better

Phenomenal for mid-high-tier gaming
|Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This gaming laptop is phenomenal for mid-high-tier gaming (1080p 144hz) as well as rendering, editing, and other multi-task processes due to the graphics card (being comparable to the 1660 TI), at such a budget-friendly price. During the sale, it is almost half off. ☺ DDR5 Memory ☺ 144 Hz ☺ Bright back-lit keys ☺ Good speakers ☺ A lot of ports (Ethernet, HDMI, USB-C, 3.5mm, etc.) ☹ 8GB Memory (Fast, yet not enough) ☹ 512GB Storage (Not enough for gaming or rendering)

Amazing for school/gaming needs
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had this for a few weeks, I got it for my school needs as well as gaming, it runs amazing when it comes to my regular school needs, when it comes to games it also runs great but the bigger the game the faster the battery drains. I can watch 2 hour movies and still have good battery percentage but when running a higher graphic and item heavy games the battery will last me about 45 minutes before it asks me to plug it in. Is relatively quite but when the fans kick in the can be loud but it cools down quick so it’s a give and take. It’s definitely worth the money, especially if you are just getting into gaming computers

Love it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this laptop. Its snappy for what it is. I use it to play games mostly Minecraft with my kid. The processor doesnt really seem to bog down to much qhen loading worlds, the nether, etc. Only down side is the ram, but that was cheap and easy to fix. Its a great buy for simple gamingish laptop.

Great entry level/casual gaming laptop.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wont play COD unless you add at least 8 more gb of ram. I upgraded to 24gb. Crashes on loading screen with just 8. CS2 is roughly 80-120fps depending on map. Plays diablo 4 on ultra settings with 75fps. Screen is beautiful and the 144hz is nice for shooters even if you cant hit 144fps. This gpu is basically on par with a 3050. The 3050 is only slightly faster. Def more bang for your buck going to ryzen/radeon route rather than the intel/nvidia route. Good luck finding a similar laptop at the same price point.

Victus review
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The graphics are good and the processing speed is great. Overall it's a great item that does what I need it to. The only pet peeve I have is the built-in mouse is a little bit too sensitive for my clunky fingers.

Works well for my intentions.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Needed a new laptop to keep up with the new Dawntrail Patches in Final Fantasy 14 and this serves admirably! Playing it is usually where I hear the laptop’s noise but isn’t unbearably loud, the game’s sound usually drowns it out. I haven’t dealt with much heating issues either. I could play for hours and not feel like my fingers are about to get burned off like my old laptop did. I unfortunately can’t judge how well it handles other games aside from FFXIV and SWTOR as I still use GeForce Now to stream the bulk of my other games. It doesn’t meet the minimum requirements for a lot of the games that have come out recently. But beside that it’s a solid buy for the price! I rated battery life as average only because I don’t really know how it is. It’s been connected to the charger since I’ve gotten it.

Great Entry Gaming Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Does exactly as stated, just problems with ssd being less than stated, 475gb instead of 512gb. Upgrade should fix it. Battery is quite a quick drain but seems standard for gaming laptops. Fan has some decibels but no matter with headphones or silence options if you’re willing to sacrifice performance.
