Very worthy competitor for Fitbit and Garmin

    Posted .

Context: For comparison to "Huawei Fit", I also own and have extensively used: the new Pebble 2 HR; Garmin Forerunner 235 and Vivosmart HR; the new Fitbit Charge 2 & Surge & Blaze; Microsoft Band 2; and Philips Health Watch. The Huawei Fit is a very worthy alternative to all the above fitness trackers. What I LIKE about the Huawei Fit: - Always-on, readable screen - Long battery life (after 48 hours of continuous wearing, including continuous HR, I'm still at 80%!).. at only 10% per day decrease, that is on track for 10-day battery life - Premium looking round form factor! (See pic, where I swapped out the stock 18mm band with a metal 18mm band) - Auto-backlight (gesture controlled) - Accurate HR (per "TUV SUD" test specs, it exceeded regulatory requirements, look it up!) - HR level interval & warning... meaning you can say "buzz me if my HR goes above ___" - Water rating to 50 meters (165 feet), meaning swimming with it is ok. It even can track swimming as an activity. - You can fire up a GPS association on your phone through the app, and it will turn on the constant-HR, and blend it all in the app. Although it has no on-board GPS (like Fitbit Surge or Microsoft Band or Forerunner 235) it can use your phone's GPS like Fitbit Blaze... so that's better than nothing. What I DON'T like about the Huawei Fit (aka "what I would change"): - The HR graphs are not as detailed as Fitbit's or Garmin's.. where you can touch the graph and see the HR reading and the time it was taken anywhere on the graph. Instead, with Huawei, it only shows the highest and lowest reading for the entire day - The gesture control to change screens (where you turn your wrist to move from clock to HR to step count, etc) is too sensitive. A turn of my wrist to see the time will often flip the screen pages. - Activities are not "auto"-tracked.

    Great Watch, Poor Quality

    Posted .

First I'd like to say that i'm a loyal Huawei customer (four phones, over 3.5 years, and this watch) and have recommended Huawei to my office workers. The watch works great with great battery life, BUT after 6 weeks the back of the watch by the heart rate sensor, is cracking. I called Huawei and they said that they would not cover physical damage( customer or manufacture defect caused). This is the back of the watch the part that is is in contact with your wrist, I'm not sure how my wrist bone could cause damage to the back of the watch just by wearing it.. Anyway, this is a manufacture defect that they will not fix or replace it. My Huawei days are over, to many other options, to bad I really like their products just really bad customer service. So, do your self a favor and not purchase Huawei products. Save your self a headache don't buy Huawei. REALLY DON"T DO IT.

    Great, but sucks!

First of I'd like to say how much I loved this watch! Great design, nice and light when wearing, awesome battery. It literally had all the features I wanted. BUT, heres the bad part, it constantly disconnects from my phone! It never syncs! I constant have to "touch to reconnect" and NEVER has it once recorded my steps climbed. So i just get the constant spinning circle saying "connecting". I read several reviews of people saying they had this issue, but I disregarded it because I liked it so much. But now ill be returning it sadly. Oh and because it wont sync, all the features are not usable because they are grayed out. This product would have gotten 5 stars if it did what it suppose to.

      Dear customer,

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience with your Huawei Fit was not the best.

Let us provide you the following information, The HUAWEI FIT does not have support for climbing data.

Regarding the connection problem, when the watch and phone have a Bluetooth connection, they need to stay within Bluetooth range of each other and not be affected by interference.

If the watch and phone cannot be connected, please do the following:
      1. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on the phone. If the Bluetooth switch is off, turn it on and place the watch and the phone beside each other and try connecting Bluetooth again.
      2. Open the Huawei Wear app, go to the Devices screen, touch the correct watch Bluetooth name, and then connect the watch with phone. Do not connect the watch from the Bluetooth devices list on the phone.

On the watch, touch "More">"About" to check the Bluetooth name.
      3. If the watch already has a Bluetooth connection with another phone or app, you will not be able to find the device by searching it. Please disconnect it from any third-party apps or other phones and try again.
      4. For Android users, make sure the app is running in the background. We recommend adding the app to the list of protected background apps. On the Mate S, for example, go to Settings > All > Protected apps to add it.

For iOS users, please go to "Settings">"Bluetooth", touch the circle beside the previously paired device, and then select "Forget This Device". After Bluetooth is disconnected, try searching for the device and connecting again.
      5. After the watch and phone have been disconnected from Bluetooth for a short time, the watch will automatically reconnect to the phone. If it does not automatically reconnect, please open the app and swipe down on the app's home screen to reconnect.
      6. Restart the app and re-enable Bluetooth on the phone. In the app, go to "Devices" screen, touch the watch's Bluetooth name to connect it with the phone.
      7. If you still cannot establish a Bluetooth connection through the methods listed above, please restart the watch and your phone and try connecting again.

A watch can only be connected to a single phone at one time. Once the devices are successfully paired, other phones will not be able to find the watch.

If you want to connect a different phone to your watch, please first delete the connection between the watch and the first phone.

      Android users:
Open the Huawei Wear app, touch Devices, swipe left in the area where the watch's Bluetooth name is shown, and then touch Delete.

      iOS users:
Go to Settings > Bluetooth¸ touch the circle beside the previously paired watch, and then select Forget This Device.

You can also turn off Bluetooth on the first phone and then open the Huawei Wear app on the other phone. Then you can scan for the watch and connect.

Please if the steps detailed above does not work, feel free to contact us through our official channels (http://consumer.huawei.com/us/support/index.htm), we will be more than glad to assist you.

      Best regards. NF HuaweiCustomerCare

The back of the watch started to crack and cut my wrist after four month. Now it is totally useless. I did not contact the customer service because I looked up online that a lot of people had the same problem and had contacted the customer service but they never gave a response. I used to be a fun of Huawei, but not anymore. For activity tracking, I think it is better to go with Fitbit.

Good Fitness Tracker with Massive Flaw

    Posted .

I bought this as an alternative to using my Fitbit Charge HR, as I wanted a tracker that looked more like a watch with an hr sensor. While I was pleased at first, after less than four months the back where the hr sensor is located has started to peel and crack. Mind you, this has been under normal wear with proper cleaning and care. I have tried contacting customer support, but they are slow to respond. As of now, I say do not buy this, get something more expensive.

    Nice Fitness Tracker

    Posted .

I've used many different fitness watches, including Garmin, Microsoft Band 2, Fitbit Charge 2, and the Apple Watch. I actually really like this because it works like advertised but also really looks like a watch, I received a compliment on my watch recently which I've never received when wearing everything else. I'm not going to go into things that are mentioned in the previous reviews, rather, I wanted to mention a couple of things I find important. 1. It's got a Gorilla Glass face (and it's low profile on your wrist). It's a fitness watch that gets used while being active which means that it will get bumped some. Both Garmin and Fitbit use plastic lenses and, from my experience, they both scratch very easily, both the Garmin Vivosmart HR and Fitbit Charge 2 were scratched within a couple of days. I think if you have to put a screen protector on a watch or have to be concerned it's going to be scratched from everyday use, then it's time to look for a different watch. Both the Apple watch and the Microsoft Band 2 also use Gorilla glass. 2. You don't have to charge this every night. Monitoring sleep is nice to have as is measuring your heart rate at night. Spiking heart rates can be an indication of a sleeping disorder (sleep apnea). Since this has a 6 (sometimes 7 day) battery, you don't need to carry the charger with you when you travel like I do. This seems trivial, but it's not when you travel a lot. I actually returned my Apple watch because about half the time, it didn't make it through an entire day. The Microsoft Band 2 was a 1.5 day device. Garmin was about 4 days as was the Charge 2.

    Best Looking Active Watch

    |
    Posted .

I've owned the Samsung Gear S, Pebble 2, and the Moto 360 2nd Gen. Pebble looked the worst but had the best battery life Samsung had the best screen, but i couldn't take advantage of its full OS due to me not having a Samsung phone Moto 360 2nd gen looked the best, but the LCD screen and battery life were bad (and constant disconnection of Bluetooth). I got this watch for $99.99 from Best Buy and i must say, not only is it cheaper than most watches at that sale price, it is the best looking of the lot. Sleek, simple, and thin (though not as thin as the Pebble time). I got the gun metal\black version, and i love the surround dashes on it (gives it a real watch premium lock). The screen is super easy to see day and night. It does ALMOST everything i want it to do (i am on the latest Firmware as of Nov 25. 2016). The simple clock face is fine (though more to choose from would be great). What i noticed in all those watches i've owned before is that i never answered calls nor texts from a watch. So this watch simply displaying what comes in is perfect. Heart rate seems to be accurate so far (latest Update). The step counts are a bit off (comparing on my phone), this is something i ordinarily wouldn't mind, but i think it uses that to calculate calories burned? Bluetooth has not once disconnected from my phone and battery life is extremely good! Bravo! The ONLY thing (as mentioned in other review here), is that i DO NOT like the wrist flick scroll through options feature. I hope Huawei releases a firmware that can make an Off\Disable button for that.

We agree that the Huawei fit is aesthetically the best watch on the market! As far as your issue regarding the over sensitive flick scroll options, here is some information to decrease the inconvenience this may cause you: Turning on the screen by rotating your wrist depends on the screen's direction. You can only rotate your wrist to turn on the screen when the screen is facing up. It is recommended that you do not wear the watch too loosely. Also, touch the screen to turn it on when you are lying down. Thank you for your business! (SP) HuaweiCustomerCare

    Nice First Smart Watch

    |
    Posted .

I had been thinking about getting a smart watch for a while but didn't know if I would actually get enough use out of it to warrant spending several hundred dollars on some of the top brands. So I found this Huawei watch and it seemed perfect for what I needed. I don't need a ton of features like the top watches have because I'm going to have my phone within 20 feet of me otherwise the watch disconnects anyway. So I didn't need to watch videos or get every application that's on my phone on my watch. I just wanted to get notifications from text messages, calendar appointments, and emails. I also wanted basic health data like steps, distance, and calories. And I needed a watch I could swim with so I didn't have to worry about getting it wet. This watch is perfect for that. It is simple to use and understand and because it doesn't have all the bells and whistles like other smart watches, it's very easy to learn and understand and navigate. I love the round face because it looks like an actual watch. It lasts probably about a week before I will charge it which is a vast improvement over the 18 hours the apple watch gives. The magnetic charger is really nice. There are a few different faces you can choose from so it would be nice to have a bit more variety. I also would like a color display but the monochrome display is one of the reasons the battery life is so good. I don't use the "flick the wrist" to flip through the menu because it is a bit finnicky. The screen also doesn't work as well if your fingers are wet or sweaty. I like the quick disconnect straps so I can change out the rubber band for a metal one I bought easily. It's also a great size for me. I have pretty small wrists, I guess average for a woman, but I enjoy big watches. This one is probably as small as I would go, but looks nice on my wrist. Overall, I would highly recommend.

Solid fitness watch, poorly executed App

    |
    Posted .

Love the look and design of the device. Monochrome in my personal beliefs is the way to go with these watches to extend battery life and give it a sleek professional look which this pulls off well, especially with certain watch faces for whatever occasion you are attending and the ability to replace the band with any you buy online. Did I mention it's waterproof with a swimming tracker function! Also on average I would get about 4 days battery life out of this that's with tackling a 45 minute workout session at least everyday those 4 days, this makes the heart rate sensor start on which reduced the battery life from 6 to 4 days but if say just regular use to could steps you definitely will get 5 days before it needs a charge. Downside would be the pedometer adds about a thousand steps every 3 thousand taken. That's a pretty significant flaw but hopefully will get fixed with a future firmware update once the Huawei watch two settles. The app also needs a lot of work. You can track your runs on GPS only when activated on the phone but then didn't display on the watch but will save a map of your run route. If you start a run from your watch it will still use the gps from your phone but it won't save a map of your run route. This still is a solid device for the money that is way more esthetically playing then anything you will find in the fitness watch section. It gets the job done, you just have to do some math till they fix the pedometer or raise your goal amount so you know where you really are at. Definitely recommend this though too anyone looking for a cheap but hourly useful fitness tracker that's easy on the eyes!

      Dear Customer,

We couldn't be happier with your outstanding review.
The Huawei Fit has an exquisite design, along with the multi-sport modes and its long battery life, this device is hard to beat.

Your wearable device uses industry leading, cutting edge sensors. These sensors can meet the demands common users have for step counting. You may see step count data discrepancies in the following situations:
      >When compared with other products, the methods used by your wearable device help to avoid counting steps erroneously in a number of situations, for example, when you are working or when you stand up and your arms don't swing regularly. Eating and brushing your teeth can also produce erroneous step counting. If other step counting products don't deal with these situations in a similar way, then the number of steps they count will be many more than the actual number of steps as recorded by your wearable device.
      >During daily life, it is normal and common for our arms or body to sway. If you start to sway in a regular pattern in some situations, continue doing so for a relatively long duration of time, and the accelerometer sensor data is similar to walking, then the wearable device may incorrectly think that you are walking and start to count steps.
      >If you walk just a few steps when the device is counting steps, but the walking activity does not continue, the wearable device may not record those steps. This may result in an extremely small discrepancy.

We really appreciate your feedback and we want to assure you that we will take care of this information for future improvement.

We hope you keep enjoying your great smartwatch.
Thank you for choosing Huawei. NF HuaweiCustomerCare

    Great and Simple Fitness Tracker

Great and Simple Fitness Tracker with smartwatch notification feature. Comfortable to wear. Issues: 1) Cannot turn off "Rotate your wrist - Switching between screens". I'm hoping this should/must be a simple fix on the next software update. 2) Doesn't track climbing stairs. Ironically on the iPhone App home screen, climbing is included. I'm not sure if Huawei Fit can track climbing or I have a defective device? 3) Screen is always on but it only shows time not the watch face with the information. Watch face is displayed only when you raise or rotate your wrist inward. Huawei Customer Care: Please let me know if Huawei Fit can track climbing stairs or I have a defective device?

    Good, could be great!

    |
    Posted .

First and foremost it has to function as an easy to read watch, and for that it's excellent. The face is great in any light and automatically backlights with sensors for room brightness and wrist position. It's actually waterproof, so you can wear it all day, no matter what you're doing. The charge lasts about two weeks depending on how often you get alerts and notifications. It has a well designed charger that magnetically grabs the watch and clicks it into place for its two hour recharge. As a smart watch it's good, but the text size is proportionately small and not much can be done about that. As a fitness device, it's a work in progress, and they have done several updates in the two months since we've owned them. Steps seem to be generous, biking requires you to carry your cell phone for GPS but is very accurate. Sleep data is difficult to judge, but if I'm sitting still for an hour watching TV it claims that I've been sleeping. The customer service is surprisingly good, promptly connecting me to an actual human being who answered my questions and listened to my suggestions. I bought ours for just under $100 and we're happy we did.

Great Activity Tracker with Smartwatch features

    Posted .

I had been looking for a long time for an activity tracker/smartwatch with: -Heart Rate Monitor -Waterproof to 50m so I could wear in shower and swimming -A round face less than 42mm that looked like a watch -Always on Touch Screen -Shows text messages and incoming calls -Works w/ Android phones -Battery life of at least 5 days -Silent alarms that you can snooze To my knowledge, this is the only thing out there that meets my criteria and it works great. It doesn't have GPS but I don't care. The activities it tracks are limited and currently you can't create your own. I'm hoping over time that software upgrades will allow it to: -track Ice Hockey/Skating -show who sent the text (currently only the message content) -support more watch faces -control the brightness (although i have no problems seeing the screen in different conditions) -change the length of alarm snooze (currently 10 mins). These are all relatively minor issues and my fitbit charge HR is now history.

    Semi-Smart Watch That Looks Good

    |
    Posted .

It's not an Apple Watch nor a Garmin but does what I need it to do. Tells me the time, Notifies me of texts and messages. While it counts steps fairly accurately, it's estimate of milage is off as there is no way to account for my longer stride. It will give you notifications if you use this with a program on your phone that utilizes GPS. What makes this worth it is that it is stylish and not obviously a smart watch. It's water proof and the pulse sensor doesn't protrude too far from the back so is comfortable to wear. It also accepts any 18mm band so I can change it out anytime with any band available at any store that sells bands. I would replace it if lost or broken if the price was still right.

    A very nice smartwatch

    Posted .

It's probably the smartwatch that best meets my need so far: - A very elegant looking with minimalistic design (especially when it's in standby mode and only time is shown) - Always on display, which makes it serves well as a watch - Long battery life: just got it for a few days, but it should last 6-8 days with heart rate tracking, and 1.5-2 weeks without the heart rate tracking (notifications from the phone are turned off, I personally don't need them) - Waterproof, ok to swim or shower with - Changeable watchband Cons: - The waist motion control is too sensitive and might create couple problems. But fortunately, this function can be turned off, and everything is good - It would be even better if the light reflection is diffuse reflection rather than specular reflection - Don't have many gimmicks that complicate operations and reduce battery life Overall: A very elegant smartwatch designed with the minimalism and pragmatism style. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ One more sentence for the HUAWEI brand. Though HUAWEI is still not famous in the US at this moment, is actually a huge high-tech company that's very popular in Europe and the rest of the world.

    almost perfect for me

    Posted .

This is hands down the most elegant fitness tracker I've found in this price range, especially with a heart rate monitor. It also comes with the option of a large wristband, which is great because I have big wrists and it fits with room to spare. (From the last eyelet to the clasp measures nearly 9 inches!) Add in the water resistance (continuous submersion up to 5 feet for as long as 30 minutes) and you get a total package of physical characteristics that can compete with many devices in higher price ranges. The fitness tracking is pretty standard for this price range, but basic is what I wanted. It does track running, walking, biking, and swimming, so if you want to track any of those specific activities you're covered. It also has some kind of training program you can setup. I recommend studying the features list to make sure it will meet your needs. The app is also fairly standard. I found it easy to use and pair with my device without reading the manual. One nice feature is the app can sync with a couple different third party apps (like MyFitnessPal), which is nice for adding my fitness data to my diet plan and collecting all that info in one place. Notifications seem to work well and I like how when you setup notifications you can choose which phone apps send notifications to the watch. I have only two complaints, both with the software, and possibly related. As other reviewers have stated, the wrist gesture is too sensitive. Sometimes I just try to look at the time and the watch scrolls to the workout shortcut. I think the wrist gesture is a great feature, but would it be possible to add a setting to turn it off? My other complaint is that the watch sometimes automatically starts a workout. I don't know why and haven't found the answer yet in the manual. So maybe it's related to wrist gestures or maybe the device has automatic workout tracking. I do know it typically happens when I move my arms a lot, like unloading groceries from the car, or putting my daughter in and out of her car seat. But whichever the case, would it be possible to also add a setting to turn this off? Overall, this is a great device that competes well in its price range. It's elegant, comfortable, and I feel good wearing in workout gear, everyday clothes, and possibly even in more formal settings (it seriously looks that good!). If I can get passed the two software issues then I can see myself using this for quite awhile!

Good overall fitness watch but not a smart watch

Bought as a Christmas present for my dad. Overall functionality is ok. Not super intuitive but basic and functional especially for a less tech savvy person like my dad. The glass is very sensitive and if your hands are not very clean it will smudge. The fitness tracking is great: steps and heart rate are the only ones my dad keeps track of. Has only slept with it a few nights, call him old fashioned for not wanting to sleep with watch at night. The other capabilities of a "smart watch" like text and call info gets displayed and make watch vibrate but other than that nothing very exciting. Honestly perfect tracking watch for my dad, I think, but leaves me wanting something more for me on the smart watch front.

Thanks for the review! Be sure to use the Sleep tracker. The Huawei FIT sleep tracker is great for users who want a better understanding of their sleep habits and how they can maximize their sleeping patterns. (CB) HuaweiCustomerCare

In my world, the best tech is simple and makes life easier or better. I rarely have to think about this watch, I like that. It's been a year now. Comfy, waterproof (even in a salt water pool), tough as nails, light and slim, updates, options and holds a charge for 10 days on a two hour charge with a magnetic charger I can use in the dark. I got these for about $120 ( we each have one) and inmo it's worth that as a watch for these old eyes that need a watch that's easy to read day or night. Add the smart functions (smaller and more difficult to read than the watch face options) and the health and fitness apps (using the Harvard sleep study data shortened the charge life to 5 days so I opted out and went to simple sleep data) make this ideal for me. I use it primarily to measure heart rate, steps and biking data. After a year of tough use, it works and looks like it was brand new. My wife changed her light color band purely for aesthetic reasons.

    Just what I wanted

I was looking for a solid, no-frills fitness tracker that could get basic alerts from my phone, had an alarm feature, and a sedentary reminder. I was also looking for something that looked and felt more watch-like and less clunky than most of the heart rate enabled devices. It's not for the true data head who wants really specific and detailed records of every type of workout they do. But, it's great as a daily activity tracker.
