    The only genuinely funny videogame

Incredibly funny game (most games retell one of two jokes: 'that cute thing is unexpectedly violent' and 'wouldn't it be funny if the characters in a game referenced this or another videogame), smart satire of IP law and capitalism's ceaseless drive to find new frontiers of privatization.

Loved every second I played this game you play as an enforcer browsing to report misconduct on web pages and all have so much fun content to read and I loved the physical as it came with extras.

Hypnospace Outlaw is so much fun. The idea is so cool and its such an addicting game. The aethetics are perfect in this game and makes you feel immersed in the world of the internet in 1999. I bought a physical copy even though I had it digitally and I couldnt be happier with the physical release. It comes with a mini cd and it is such a neat thing to add. I highly recommend this game!!!

The game is a fun novelty. Very humorous, and an incredibly well-done approximation of the early internet. It didn't hold my attention for very long, but I still have great admiration for this release.

This is an incredible time capsule of the 90s Internet. And it translates well to the Switch thanks to touch controls.

Do you enjoy deep diving in the Google rabbit hole? Do you think that 1996-2004 was the golden age of the internet? Do you enjoy .gifs of smiley faces and spinning objects? Do you go all in with untested home automation products? If you answered yes to one or more of those questions, Hypnospace Outlaw may be for you! You play as an "enforcer" in a closed web space tracking down those who infringe copyrights, harass others and distribute and implement malicious software and images. The dedication to and replication of the early internet is amazing. The game primarily takes place in 99-00 and you can see progress and evolution on the different pages as time goes on. There is even a spoof of Clippy, just way more annoying. Hypnospace Outlaw is a great example of a unique, hard to describe, you have to play it kind of game. It's not a text adventure but it is primarily text based. I pre-ordered it solely on the write up because it just sounded so *bizarre*. I played this using a physical cartridge on a Switch Lite which honestly hampered some of the experience. Using the thumbstick as the mouse and buttons to go back and forth and confirm choices got pretty clunky. After an hour or so using it to try typing on a keyboard (of which you use A LOT) I opted for a stylus which was still not optimal but better. I can see where playing this on Steam, Epic, etc. would give a much better experience. I know the game has had issues in the past with the digital version on Switch and surfing Reddit seems to show things were patched and better but I had some crashing issues while using the cartridge version. Where the game simulates a crash with the OS, the game actually did crash my Switch. Twice. The first time it just booted me back to the home page, the second time it fully locked up the system and I had to do a hard shut down. Crashes aside, I'm fully in the middle on this game, it wasn't great but it wasn't bad, it is worthy of a few hours to play and it's price point.

This game is about being a detective and learning about these fictional peoples problems in a fictional internet. It’s creative and amazing how a world can be created with just a fake internet.

I love this game. In Hypnospace Outlaw, you play as a kind of internet police, browsing a parody of 90s internet to report misconduct. It's just like browsing the internet of the past with crappily designed web pages(that had its own type of charm in contrast to the "clean" look of everything now) but gamified for you.

I grew up with dial up internet. I can remember waiting minutes upon minutes for pages to load, hours for small downloads to finish, and other similar experiences. Yet despite the archaic nature of that time, it was still revolutionary to stumble across new websites, listen to songs, and watch videos. Finding Hypnospace Outlaw was like rediscovering the early internet - while i havent played it yet, the screenshots and reviews i’ve watched sold me. Cant wait to jump into this nostalgic experience. Looks like it simulates surfing the early internet, patrolling websites and some puzzle based dilemmas.

Surreal…meta..just plain amazing! I’d recommend this to folks who like role playing on a more realistic level. If you want to be a cyber agent regulating content, then this is perfect for you. If you want a cerebral experience that makes social commentary on censorship, then this is perfect for you.
