Movie is good DVD transfer is ok but I would recommend

I searched high and low for this movie locally because I did not want to buy it online. I even checked the local Best Buy a couple of times before I found it in stock. The movie itself has an intriguing plot which is convincingly plausible. Two average people get frozen in time as part of a military experiment and wake up years later to find themselves as the smartest people on the planet. It is a true comedy that shines some light on the dumbing down of our culture. The DVD itself contained little more than the feature, but the deleted scenes were worth a look. The navigation on the main menu wasn't intuitive. As far as kids go, make sure to check the movie's rating. Oh....and, It's got what plants crave.

As far as allegories go, there's a healthy mix of stinging social commentary with the absurd. Being over a decade old only helps the film in terms of what has gotten better or worse since it was made. And that being subjective, it is something I recommend one watch on their own. But I found that the movie went by faster than I'd expected. DVD quality is what one would expect - widescreen, decent compression level, color and contrast, and sound are all what one would expect. Might make for a nice Blu-Ray release one day as well.
