Broke after two weeks

We were really excited to find this smaller freezer at a great price. Took it home, filled it up with meat and baby food, and one day two weeks later opened the door to find everything partially defrosted and the freezer not working. Called Best Buy about exchanging it for a new one and found out since they don't have it in stock we'd have to go back twice - once to return the freezer, at which time they'd order a replacement, and then again to pick up the replacement. Said they can't order the replacement and have it in store for our exchange. So we'll just be returning it and getting another freezer somewhere else.

We bought this freezer for use in our home. One month and five days after we plugged it in, it stopped cooling, and we lost about $70 worth of food. We called Best Buy, but since it was past 30 days, they instructed us to call the manufacturer. We called the manufacturer and the representative instructed us to do the following:
1) Turn the control knob up and down several times;
2) turn the knob all the way down to the lowest setting;
3) unplug the unit;
4) wait for 12 hours; and
5) plug the unit into a different receptacle.
The representative informed us that this would reset the unit to factory settings. It did nothing to instill a sense of confidence in the appliance. We followed the directions and it still didn't work. We contacted the manufacturer again and the rep told us to send in the sales receipt and they would get back to us in 48 hours. A week after emailing the receipt, and hearing nothing from the manufacturer, we called back and explained the whole situation again. We were then told that we would need to ship the unit one-way with insurance to their warehouse in Illinois, and that we would need to bear the cost of that. In six to seven weeks, the manufacturer would ship us back our repaired unit or a new one.
If you decide to purchase this appliance, we wish you the best of luck. We now have a 6.9 cubic foot box, which no one seems to want.

The Igloo was an inexpensive upright for our basement and so far, is just fine. Shelves don't move because they're part of the collant delivery system (DUH! To detractors). Decent space and was a perfect fit for what we could use.
Best, I used my accumulated Zone Rewards to cut the price even further.
Not a dead zero for noise but a low hum (so far). Clean white. Took out the warranty, so let it fail!

Died after 4 months

The freezer froze food just fine intially...We checked it 24 hours later, and then in another couple of days, and everything was fine. 4 short months later it quit working, we lost over 40 lbs of venison and you can imagine the cleanup nightmare. Luckily Best Buy stood behind their sale because Igloo's warranty is a scam. First, finding an Igloo website is almost impossible - they're owned by Curtis International but they definitely don't make that easy to find. The manual has no indication of how to report issues. http://www.curtisint.com/support/support.asp?brand=IGLOO
Their warranty requires you to ship the item back to them, prepaid of course, and including an extra $7 money order. If they find it to be defective, they'll replace it. It's a $200 freezer...of course no one is going to ship a freezer so they get away without ever having to warranty anything. Kudos again to Best Buy for making the situation right - I was very pleased with the local store's response but unfortunately, they're representing a very shady product.

I had this freezer less then thirty days and it formed frost right from the start. Thankfully I got a geek squad protection plan and was able to have them come out turns out there was a problem with the door seal. Easy problem to fix right wrong geek squad can't get the parts. You do get what you pay for the freezer stayed cold but the way it produces ice inside greatly reduces the life of the freezer. I highly recommend spending the extra dollars for something better. I returned it and got a Frigidiare upright for $200 more.

I just wanted a small freezer that didn't take up much space and this one fits my needs exactly.
I've had no problems with it so far.
I am very pleased with it for the length of time I've had it.

This is a quiet freezer!
I have it in my house against everybodies advice.
The doors seals far better than expected especially with grand kids around.
Doesn't cycle off and on and when it is running it operates extremely quiet.
I'd recomend this freezer, only because I'm happy with the performance, size, and price.

This Freezer is great. I fits perfectly in the small space I have for it and it has a lot more room on the inside than you would think.

The frost and ice buildup in this freezer has been awful! I have it on the minimum setting too. I liked the upright feature, so I could see what was in it easily. I thought the size would be good too, but it is really too small for all the kitchen freezer overflow and is pretty full most of the time. There is no light in it either. The garage power outlet went out and I did not realize it was not running for 3 days. I do not recommend buying this freezer, and I would not buy it again if I had a do over.

We bought this to replace an old Montgomery Wards freezer and needed something small and didn't want a chest freezer. This fit nicely. Enough size for a family but not too big either. I checked the energy consumption with a kill-a-watt meter and the cost per day over a weeks time was $ .12 per day. About the same as a never fridge. Not much on features but economical.

Not Worth It

I guess I should consider myself lucky that this Igloo lasted a year when it looks like it lasted only 6 months for others. On the positive side, for an extra freezer it was ideal in that the upright/front door configuration allowed for easy access and view to what was inside (versus a chest configuration). However, it did build up a deep layer of frost quite quickly, but defrosting using a blow dryer was a quick task. The worst thing is that it's been only a year and it's conked out - of course just after I did a meat stock-up. So now, I'm replacing it with a more expensive Frigidaire which I should have just bought in the first place, but I don't really need that capacity. Hope it gets here quick before a couple hundred dollars in frozen goods go bad!

Horrible Product

Price seemed low, but bought it anyway... Shame on me! It has never reached a temp lower than room temp. The coolant runs through the shelving, and the line was pinched at the bottom. I called Curtis for support, and they told me to turn the selctor knob 8 times and it should be fine. They didn't want to hear about the pinched line.... But if I would like to pay to ship it across country, they would be happy to assist me in setting that up.... Seriously?!?!?! Ship a $190 freeze across country?!?! No thanks!
I will never buy an Curtis (IGLOO) product again.

I bought this despite the mixed reviews and I regret it. When it worked it worked well but it only lasted 6 months. The igloo warranty is garbage they wanted me to ship it from ny to illinoes. When I tried explaining this to someone in india from customer support he said he would try to get a shipping waiver. After 3 phone calls and more than a week I was told they would waive the 7 dollar insurance fee as long as I paid to ship it to them. Called best buy and the lady on the phone said to just bring it in to my nearest best buy so I'll see how that goes. DO NOT BUY

I got this at a very good price! I almost didn't buy it because of some of the reviews here, but being a single mom, and wanted to stock up on food so that I'm not wasting money in the grocery store buying 1 week of food at a time in my small freezer/fridge in my apartment, I felt it would be good enough for that purpose. But I am glad I made the purchase because it has a great amount of space for me and my daughters, I can keep plenty of meat, at least 2 months worth, and not worry about it over freezing and shopping once a week.

The first freezer was yellow in the bottom inside, and there was rust forming inside. After 12 hours there was thick ice build up inside, so I called service (India). After another try ice still built up so the freezer was returned. The replacement picked up 5 days later and on getting it home it was discovered that the bottom all smashed in so it was returned within 1 hour of picking it up and the purchase price was refunded. I would rather have no upright freezer than this disaster.

Purchase process was easily done online with pickup at a local store. Even used 2 gift cards and no problems occured. Only needed a small freezer so this fit all my needs. Should be very easy to defrost.
Freezer started right up and is very quiet. On the "normal" setting the temperature inside was -10 degrees. I turned it lower and it is now at -5 degrees. Have only had this for about 6-weeks but so far no complaints.
