    ID42 Returns With A Bang!!

In this sequel to ID4-Resurgence is very similar to the original Independence Day but our characters are 20 years older. Great performances by Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, and Judd Hirsch. Willl Smith's character doesn't return but his son does to take on a similar role. The special effects, editing, score, and photography are fantastic. Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin re-teamed for this picture. Its a good sequel, I missed this one in the theatres but any disaster movie usually gets and keeps my attention, no matter how good or bad. If you liked the original its worth seeing the sequel.

While it doesnt have the charm of the first one this movie is a popcorn flick. Dont expect any academy award winning scripts or acting though. Just go along for the ride. The whole cast makes a return minus Will Smith, but even he makes an appearance in a subtle way. The video and picture are great as well. Again, just like other UHD 4K movies, the CGI tends to stick out and look absolutely stunning while the actual film (non-CGI) looks good as well, but not as good as the special effects or CGI sequences. This may be because of the directors choosing to use a filter for their movies.

Purchased the blu-ray with a nice steelbook. Great to keep. I just wished it came with both films 1 & 2. The original is still better!

Despite that Independence Day: Resurgence doesn't quite pack the same emotional wallop as its predecessor, the film makes for a fairly entertaining time. 20 years after the events of the first movie, the aliens are back, and looking to extract the Earth's core to power their own ships. With the help of an alien computer from a friendly race, David Levinson, former President Whitmore, and all of their allies join together to defend the human race from extinction once more. The 3D is actually somewhat improved over the theatrical experience, and the time goes by fairly smoothly.

Sadly no Will Smith in this one, the story is good (not a masterpiece here, we're only looking to be entertained a bit). Effects are good and my tween/teens liked it.

Whoever said that this movie was not that great is right and wrong. Right because it is not nearly as good as its predecessor, but wrong because it delivers hilarious laughs and action that was unexpected. See, that's what I love about watching films that do not have great critic reviews; the usually are better than what they think. This film looks great in 4K - if you read my reviews, I happen to say that quite a bit, and that is because the movies that I have seen in 4K actually are worth buying. This one should at the very least be looked at for purchase.

Decent followup to the first one with plenty of action and special effects. The acting is solid as well but doesn't quite hit the 4 star level in my book, 3 stars.

Expensive but a good DVD. I purchased this to try out the new DVD player that we bought. It was definitely a good movie for it, but thought it was a little expensive.

We didn't see this movie in theaters, but Best Buy had a sale and picked it up. Good 4K quality, although the sequel didn't compare well with the original.

It's so bad. It's so hilariously, wonderfully bad, and it's exactly what I wanted. So the people saying it's worse than the original ... yes, that's true. The original takes a lot of heat, because of the dialogue, and the acting, and the things that don't really add up, but in terms of storytelling it was effective, right? July 2 is this great crescendo culminating in the disaster scenes we all came for, while setting up characters we like despite ourselves because they're Jeff Goldblum and Will Smith. July 3 you get planes vs. spaceships, Will Smith being a badass, and they actually develop the characters in ways we care about. Then July 4 sets up a great showdown. It's a well constructed movie despite its flaws. This is the opposite. There is absolutely no sense of pacing or structure or build. Things just sort of happen, one after another, wherever the plot needs them to. The movie doesn't obey real world logic, or even disaster movie logic, or even its own internal logic, at pretty much any time. In one scene Bill Pullman's in the room chatting with people, the camera cuts away for one shot, and then cuts back to the exact same shot except Bill's missing, and they all say, "Wait, where did Whitmore go?" like he snuck out in that 1.5 seconds. Characters have love interests - like literally every character including Dr. Okun (he actually has the best one) has a love interest, except for Dylan -- why doesn't Jessie Usher get a love interest?? -- but of course that never actually motivates any character to do anything. Jeff Goldblum's love interest shows up in the beginning, hangs out at his side the whole movie, and is there at the end. Sizzling romance!

The sequel is a garbage movie, but the sound is amazing and 3D quality is pretty good. If you have a 3D tv then it is worth the $6 I paid for it.

Change the actors (mostly - Goldbloom is still present) and up the tech on the story-line. The old Pres takes one for the team, so this should wrap up the franchise. Can't replace Will Smith from 1st one and his great interplay with Goldbloom or his persona. Alien rationale of sucking out the planet's core is a stretch given iron is quite prevalent in the U-verse, but a fun movie with the hero's and heroic ending. It's a keeper for the library, especially at the Best Buy sale price of 5 bucks.

Part 2 is a little too late, 20 years later. A few actors came back for the film, not quite as good as the first, But a must watch if you saw the first one.

Independence Day - Regurgitation. What with Hollyweird's nonsense these day's we're getting pretty picky about wasting time and money, so when this hit the big screen, we yawned and turned away. Since we bought a new 4k TV and this blu Ray was on sale at Christmas, I hesitated, then bought it. While it was better than anything on broadcast TV the night we watched, that's not anything to brag about. Why anyone bothers to either re-boot an original or do another boring unimaginative sequel is beyond me. The results are usually the same - terrible. While the effects were interesting, they too are getting as old as the hills. The story itself was pretty much a re-hash of the original AND hooray hooray, they left an opening for yet ANOTHER Earth tragedy to come. Wow... something to wait for. ZZZZZ. Spoiler if you care - They DID manage to kill off the remaining original cast members except for mainstay Goldbum, his doddering old mumbly and unfunny father Judd Hirsch, and the long-haired goofy lunatic scientist. The extras which I usually don't care about anyway... were especially terrible, and for some reason, it was necessary to keep turning up the sound as the movie progressed. We went from 18 in the beginning to 32 at the end just to hear the voices. Not that there was anything noise over them, they just weren't loud enough. If there were half stars, it would rate 2.5, but like I said earlier... it wasn't the worst we've ever seen, but we probably won't watch it again.

More special effects, more action, same over-the-top popcorn movie. If you enjoyed the first film, then I'm sure you will also enjoy this one. I liked it for what it is; nostalgia and Will Smith makes the first one better, but Resurgence delivered all I was expecting for an Independence Day sequel... go Bill Pullman! The 3D version is good enough, but not great. All the standard extras you expect from a movie are here; it's always interesting to listen to creators talk about their ideas and how things came to be.
