Great movie collection for the Indiana Jones Fans!

The first film in this series was nostalgic perfection, but with the muscular technical virtuosity acquired from a half century of directors-to-be studying the genre . It was a true gift to people who grew up on the old swashbuckling films, the "man of the jungle" actioners and 1940s detective thrillers (and director Spielberg obviously included himself as a recipient). Even if the films are uneven (we didn't need the R-ish darkness of "Temple of Doom)" the series resurrected not just the feel of old adventure films but the spirit that is often undermined by directors that don't take themselves or their audience seriously. One exception I can recommend that complements the Indy movies: "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow"

I enjoyed these movies over the years, so naturally I wanted to upgrade to the complete Blu-Ray set when it became available. So far I have watched the first three movies and the images and sound are very good. Raiders of the Lost Ark is a first class film. Great escapism and very believable. Temple of Doom is poor and the actors seemed to be aware of how bad it is. The kid was the only one who seemed to be trying. The Last Crusade is back to the form of the first movie. The story is believable. There are twists and turns along the way. Sometimes being lucky is better than being good as Indy finds out in some of the fight scenes. Luckily they are still believable without having to stretch reality too far. I remember The Crystal Skull was like The Last Crusade for its twists, etc. but I also remember the ending being somewhat Temple of Doom-ish.

I have wanted to purchase the box-set of all the Indiana Jones movies for quite some time, yet could not find it at a reasonable price, until I found it at Best Buy. While that was my #1 reason for purchasing the box-set here, I also chose Best Buy due to the quality and care I have received from them during all of my other purchases here, and they definitely did not disappoint this time with how quick the box-set arrived. I absolutely love the Indiana Jones movies, and I am thrilled that I found it for such a great price, with excellent care and fast delivery from Best Buy!!

I'm ashamed to admit, I hadn't seen any of these movies in over 20 years, so I viewed them without nostalgia or any preconceptions. This package is a good value, coming with Two great moves, a decent one, and one that is pretty bad. I gave it five stars based on having the complete series for a good price, but took away one due to the lousy packaging. To the manufacturers: I HATE WHEN MOVIES COME IN A CARDBOARD SLEEVE INSTEAD OF A PROPER CASE! They are a pain to take out of the sleeve, and I'm always worried that I'm going to scratch them. A couple of my brief impressions of each movie: Raiders of the Lost Ark - Wow, I was blown away at how much I liked this movie! Great action and pacing, amazing characters, and a mostly good story. Marry me Marion! 9/10 (I rate things harshly) Temple of Doom - Not a bad movie, but my first thought after watching was that they couldn't make a worse Indiana Jones movie (I was so, so wrong). Overall I thought it was ok. Great action, but I hated Willy, and mostly disliked short round. I can't even count how many times I wanted them to shut up! 6/10 The Last Crusade - Another great movie, not as good as Raiders in my opinion though. The characters are mostly good, I love Indy's interactions with his father. I like Elsa, but not nearly as much as I like Marion. Great humor, which is the one thing I feel this movie did better than the first on. 8.5/10 Crystal Skull - It wasn't as bad as I'd heard, but by Indiana Jones standards it is. It's not a terrible movie, but it didn't do much that was good either. Too many problems are solved by a certain plot device. The action is good for the most part. I love that Marion is back, though I'm not fond of her son. Shia LaBeouf is a good actor, but he keeps choosing roles like this one that just don't suit him. 4/10

Everyone who cares about the Indiana Jones films is already familiar with the content of them. They are all worth watching as entertainment and the 5-Disc Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventures on Blu Ray is the one to own. Housed in cardboard book format, which some complain about, the set nevertheless saves a great deal of shelf space and simply requires care in removing and replacing the discs. The HD Blu Ray video coupled with DTS (Digital Theater Sound) audio is spectacular on my 55" Samsung HD TV. Highly recommended for adventure fans. All four films are here plus a 5th disc of 7 hours of bonus materials. Thanks Best Buy for selling this at the lowest price of anyone during the recent holiday season.

Here be a set worthy of a blu-ray upgrade. Did you like the DVD set prior? This goes above and beyond that. The image retains the classic film integrity, yet still benefits from the HD master. As for the audio... It may be 5.1, but oh is it a stellar mix - Whether you go for the whip cracks, gun shots, or John Williams' iconic music. The DVD set extras carry over plus other goodies there too. All in all, despite your preferences of which one is best or worst, you will have fun with this set!

The Amazon Kindle HE 8" is a great value and is a wonderful all around, expendable tablet computer and entertainment device.
