Very poor quality. Product arrived defective and damaged in box with pieces missing. These companies today rob people blind.

Beautiful, Durable, Stylish Wooden File Cabinet

We recently updated our home office with new L shaped sit-stand desk in dark wood top and was looking for a file cabinet that would look stylish, beautiful, secure and this one checked all the requirements.
While we all are heading towards digital transformation, there are still tax documentation, receipts, certificates, vaccination cards, important warranty information that needs to be stored in organized and easy to access file cabinets at home and requires a file cabinet.
This 2-drawer file cabinet was delivered quickly but was very heavy to move around in the packaged box. It was very clearly labelled that it weighs more than 70 pounds on the box and would recommend 2 people for moving the box.
File cabinet requires assembly and the included instructions is good enough and will take approximately over 1 hours depending on the skill level of the user. So be prepared to spend some time for assembling all the pieces. Construction, design, quality and color is top notch unlike cheap MDF that leading box store sells.
Measures 30 inches in height, 20 inches in depth and 30.9 in width this file cabinet fits my space perfectly. Each drawer fits A4 legal or letter sized files and has metal rails for drawers attached for easy assembly to remove the guess work of alignment. All required hardware is included for installation and the security nor style were sacrificed with this file cabinet. Both the drawers are not allowed to be open at the same time for avoiding the tipping over and is a safety mechanism that comes with it. Also, there is an option to anchor the cabinet to the wall with the provided hardware in the package.
It can also be used to hold heavy all in one printer. It does not come with any casters to move easily due to the design. It can also be used as bed side end table and not necessarily as file cabinet.
Pros: Solid Construction, Durable, Adjustable hanger to keep letter, A4 and legal files securely organized, Safety mechanism, Wood design, Metal handles and rails for smooth opening and closing.
Cons: Heavy, no casters/wheel design for moving, lack of built-in lock for added security.
Overall, very nice-looking sturdy file cabinet in rustic brown design to enhance any modern office space for keeping the files neatly organized.

Just what the home office needed

The package came well insulated with no dents or dings. It weighs, in my opinion much more than the 78 pounds in the description, I think more like 100 as it took a lot for me to wrestle it inside.
There is a whole lot of Styrofoam inside, it would have been nice if it were corrugated cardboard for recycling.
So the first thing after opening I saw that the picture is correct, it's more of a grayish color as opposed to the dark brown stated in the description.
I took all the parts out to make sure everything was in the box, thankfully it was. All parts are labeled with a removable number or letter while the screws, cams and dowels are individually bagged respectively with a letter. There are a ton of parts and a lot to put together with this cabinet so bring your patience (I got tired of doing it and quit for the night) and instead of a screwdriver, I suggest a powered driver.
The instructions were decent, however some of the pictures required me to figure it out on my own. Also, although the directions didn't say so, any place I used a wood dowel I also used wood glue with it. Once it was completely assembled, this thing is as solid as any pre-assembled piece of furniture. I am very pleased with it, I have the option of storing my legal or letter sized docs in both drawers.

I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised by the Insignia 2-Drawer File Cabinet in Dark Oak. I was looking for a new file cabinet that looked more "home furnishing" and less "cold stark office" and this definitely fits the bill. It looks more like an oversized nightstand than a file cabinet. I don't think anyone would look at it and mistake it for something actually made from oak, but the overall appearance is perfectly acceptable.
From a materials standpoint it's about what you would expect for something priced at $229.00. We're looking at laminated mdf and particle board here along with a fair amount of wood pegs in addition to metal cam bolts and cam lock nuts. There's also a couple of different size wood screws for attaching mdf support braces in a few spots. All in all the materials are just fine, though I sort of wish that they'd gone with metal brackets to attach the drawer fronts to the drawer bodies instead of plastic. Maybe one of the ones I got was defective, but I did have an end snap off when putting in a screw. It wasn't a showstopper or anything. Some gorilla glue got me right back on track. If you're going to go with metal for the drawer handles anyway though, who not do the same for the brackets?
Assembly did take a while, but thankfully was very straightforward. The instructions were very easy to follow and I'm most happy about the fact that nearly all holes ended up lining up perfectly to receive their corresponding cam bolt or wood peg. At worst I had a spot or two that required a tiny shimmy to get everything to drop into place. Overall VERY pleased with the assembly experience.
The two things I am sort of disappointed about (and this is why I cannot give this unit 5 stars) are as follows:
1. The drawer bottoms and the chosen support method for them are not great. I understand that this is really just for hanging file folders and not regular drawer storage, but the drawer bottoms are rather thin and the only added support they have are 2 strips of particle board down the center from front to back. In the past I have stored some items in my file cabinets in the bottom of the drawers. Not much, mind you, but I was comfortable doing so. I would not be comfortable doing so with this unit.
2. I would've liked to have seen at least an attempt to provide some sort of way to lock the unit. I feel like that is just something that should come standard on all file cabinets and most have some sort of included option for that.
All in all, I am happy with what I have and would recommend it to friends and colleagues looking for a nice looking budget option.

Super Solid Filing Cabinet That Looks Nice!

This 2 drawer filing cabinet is very sturdy with plenty of space for its size. The nice thing about this piece is that it looks like a piece of normal home furniture and could easily be mistaken for an end table or side table. The modern yet rustic styling is also very popular right now.
The small size is perfect for even a small home office, but the 2 roomy drawers still provide lots of storage space.
Assembly is easy, however the unopened carton is heavy and may need 2 people to move until you open it and take out the pieces. All hardware is marked and instructions are clear. Materials provided are good quality for this price point, and the heavy construction confirms that.
Each drawer includes rails for hanging file folders, A4 and legal sized and a safety feature is included so that only 1 drawer can open at a time to prevent the cabinet from falling forward.
The cabinet also does not have a lock for the drawers, but since this is obviously intended for home use, I am not sure this is really an issue.
Overall, very happy with this unit, will help me get my files out of boxes and way more organized.

This file cabinet is really nice. I got a good deal on it, I had seen it somewhere else and it was more expensive. Fast delivery and it’s very sturdy.
