Unfortunately, we are unable to determine the issue you are experiencing with your television, but we’d like to give you some basic guidelines which may assist you. The Insignia television has a 720p screen, which is high definition. The quality of picture which is displayed on the screen is entirely dependent on the incoming source. Standard definition sources, such as analog antenna channels or non-HD cable channels, will typically display with black bars at the edges of the screen due to the incoming picture size being a different ratio than the TV screen. While the TV cannot change a standard definition source into an HD one, you can use the “Aspect” button on your Insignia remote control to stretch or alter the ratio of the picture to provide a more enjoyable viewing experience. If you require further assistance, we would recommend contacting our customer service at 877-467-4289 between 8am and 9pm CDT, we are open seven days a week.

Affordable + Great Picture + Decent Sound = 5/5

Pros: Picture is outstanding - better than those its price range or higher. 3 HDMI ports (so you don't have to choose between/switch HD input systems). Price is very reasonable. Perfect size for either a bedroom TV or an apartment TV.
Cons: USB input is only for pictures. If you're looking to play movies off of a flash drive, you can't - you'll need a separate media player (I went with the LG DP132 - no more than $30-ish). The sound can use a minor improvement, but if you're adding a media/stereo/game system , you're good.
I came in with my mind set up to get the 32" but I saw this one open-box for $20 more (min I would've paid for this was $70 more - on sale). I'm glad I did. The reviews on it were almost uniformly good.
Add another 5/5 review...

I got this as a second set primarily because a 39 inch set is the max I can fit in a hutch &. there are only two offered . I got an "open box- Geek certified set" with free delivery at a great price. Set up super simple- hooked up to satellite box with HDMI cable and audio out to sound system "video sound" input. I have a 60" 3D smart 1080p Bravia XBR/ 240 hz refresh, big screen as my primary TV and this is only 720p with a 60 hz. refresh so the Insignia doesn't have the richness of color or blacks as the big screen as can be expected, but still is good enough for a bright natural appearing picture. The TV is good.- a bit slow on the initial turn-on for picture but once on, it has good color and resolution. The settings are adequate for your own preferences. The TV speakers are low in base as expected, but as I have mine on a separate audio system amp, This is of no concern. It is very thin and light and can be console mounted on two plastic screw-in feet, or with a wall mount. Overall the set is a great second set or starter HD at very reasonable price. I am more than satisfied with it. And with a Geek squad certification and guarantee, I am protected . If you have a 36" max opening to put a set in, this set is the perfect choice. ( 39 is a diagonal- the width is under 36")

I ordered this online and picked it up at my local store. Iv'e had it 3 days so far and I am very happy with this purchase. The price was right for a 39" TV. and the picture is very good . Sound is more than satisfactory. I may seriously consider purchasing another one of this model TV.

This tv has the worst picture quality of any TV I have ever owned. EVEN ANALOG! Now that is bad. If you are smart invest a few more $ and get a better TV.
