It's plastic!

Not that it's a bad thing, but it surprised me that this entire bulb except for the base, is plastic. Good coverage and spreading of light more than other LED bulbs that shoot most of the light from the top. Very bright, okay warm color. Good incandescent replacement.

I have these LED bulbs in my dining room and bedroom and intend to get more. They come on instantly bright and are perfect. Finally an energy efficient bulb that doesn't take time to light up.

I wasn't looking to purchase LED bulbs, but they were having a sale and I decided to give them a shot. They screwed right in and gave off their full 450 lumens at the flick of a switch. From what I can tell no noise is emitted, but I'm not using them with a dimmer. I currently own three of them and they replace 60 watt bulbs fairly well. They may not give off quite as much light, but from what I can tell it's pretty close. Thanks to their long life and low energy consumption, I recommend putting them in difficult to reach places or places that see a lot of use.

I have purchased every brand of LED bulb made to check the color. I am usually disappointed. However, this bulb is inexpensive and the color is great! It is one of the best I have discovered. Highly recommended.

Good light distribution, higher power usage

The light seems to be of reasonable color quality and match the color temperature spec. I like the essentially 360 degree light distribution. That is as good as or perhaps better than the Cree. I was concerned about shadow strips, but that has not been an issue.
I could not use the bulbs in my desired fixtures, so I ended up with them in the garage and basement. The intended fixtures have a deeper sleeve around the socket and base of the bulb. Regular incandescent, compact fluorescent and some Utilitech LED bulbs have all fit. Not the Insignia. Oh well. That's -1/2 star.
A bigger deal is that the Insignia bulb uses considerably more electricity than the similar Cree product from the big orange box. This 450 lumen bulb is rated at 9 watts, and I can get 800 lumens from Cree for that much power. I knew that going in, but at the sale price I wanted to try the bulb. Still, I could not give old tech full points. I took off 1/2 star.
Overall I'm pleased. Definitely an above average bulb.

It lights up the room right away unlike some bulbs that start out a little dimmed and then warm up to brightness its suppose to be, they are quiet with no buzzing noise like other bulbs. Couldn't be happier with this bulb, its just great.

Have both the 800 and the 450 lumen. nice and bright and love the fact that I am saving electricity and the fact that I won't have to change a lightbulb for 22 years especially in those hard-to-reach lighting locations.

These are great energy saver light bulbs and are just as bright as regular lights. They are a bit expensive but no more then most energy saving bulbs.

I bought this mainly to try out and see how the LED lights were. It is great so far. I have not had it long enough to give an accurate assessment of its energy savings or lifespan. The quality of light is subjective but seems better to me that a fluorescent because i dont see any flicker. Light color temperature is a bit warmer than fluorescent too. I will replace more as the prices go down on the LED bulbs.

This light has a warm color much like a standard bulb. This bulb can be dimmed. Has a slight buzzing sound that younger people can hear. So, it's not good for a study light where you need it to be very quite. The sound is not noticeable in the TV room or when working in the kitchen. My house is now about 90% LED lighting and no one can tell a difference when they visit.

The light gives off a lot less heat than a regular bulb. You can remove it when it is on without burning your hands. It is still plenty very bright. I have only had the bulb for a month, if it lasts a while, I will be very happy with it.

Tried other make LED incandescent shaped bulbs and had filler ring around center of bulb that left strange looking light pattern. You won't have that problem with this bulb unless in a behind clear lens. Even behind clear fixture lens still cleaner looking than florescent bulb

Our family has been trying to be more green for the past several years. We've used compact florescents for some time. The long period to reach full brightness has always been a drawback. These bulbs are bright right away, a real plus.

I couldn't tell the difference between the color from this bulb and the CFL bulb it replaced. Good color, brightness, and performance. It has an immediate response of course. It just works unnoticed in the background in a lamp on a timer, which is a good thing.
