    Charging port failure.

I bought this tablet for my kids to play games on. After a time, the charging port became damaged. Cracked, to be specific. This was my kids fault for pulling it well the charger was plugged into the tablet. So I bought another tablet of the exact same kind from Best Buy online. After only three month, the charging port started to fail. We thought the problem was the cord because it didn't always pick up the charge. We try different cords, and realize that the problem was not in the cord. Now the tablet battery is dead and there is no way to charge it. Nothing works to fix it. The kids are disappointed because all of their games are saved on it. It would cost too much to fix the charging port. I'm not sure what to do next. I wish I had bought and the two year protection plan, or whatever protection plan was offered. Now the price of this tablet has gone up over $20 from when I bought it 3 months ago. So I'm not sure what I will do next.

This is the worst tablet I've used. I bought it for my 7 yr old and even she isn't impressed. The charger has never worked (we used ph charger). Go with a Kindle or IPad.

I had bad feelings for this tablet because of the price and some mixed reviews. When I ordered this tablet on 7/3/2017, I felt excited but nervous at the same time. I have a few insignia products including a TV and lightning cables and they were great! It came today 7/7/2017 on time and after having the tablet for a few hours, I am very happy and satisfied with the product. It even has features that a 1,299 IPad Pro doesn't have like a built in FM radio tuner with RDS text, and a micro SD card slot for expanding (16GB is onboard this tablet but can be upgradable with a cheap SD card) and all of this is 10 times cheaper than the IPad!!! The 8 inch screen is great for me and I didn't need a bigger screen for work. Its not the sharpest but I have seen worse screens than this and this screen is so much better. The camera isn't so great but isn't bad either, its $50 your not going to expect a GoPro on here. I got all my apps I need such as Google, built in FM radio, Microsoft office, and a few games and social media. Very impressed with this tablet and already own an Insignia 24 inch TV and other Insignia products! I will update this review if needed.

Best Android 6.0 tablet for the money

This is a great little tablet. One of the nice features is that has the capability of adding the micro sd card as internal memory. So with a 64gb micro sd card in I have 70gb free on my tablet right now. This tablet connects well with the pc using the provided micro sd cable (has trouble with other micro sd cables for some reason) so you can transfer apps or sideload books using calibre for use on moon reader+ or other reading apps of your choosing. The Kindle app also runs well. All apps I've tried thus far have worked well and respond quickly. I do not play many games so I can't give an opinion on this feature of the tablet. Battery life seems to be average with other tablets. The display is nice and bright and looks fairly crisp in comparison to other budget tablets I've tried. For the price of the tablet you can't beat it if you don't want to spend the bucks on a Samsung or other expensive android tablet. I'm really happy after trying quite a few other tablets and none of them doing everything I need/

    An excellent little basic tablet

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

After having read many of the reviews and having had experience with this tablet myself, I have to assume many of the complaints are due to user error. The tablet is very basic and is not blindingly fast but it has done everything I've asked it to do: surf the net, watch videos via Youtube and Netflix and run apps for video feeds while flying my new 3DR Solo drone. It has never failed to perform. At one point Chrome just would not work so I deleted it an installed Firefox and it now works well. Pretty sure the issue was with Chrome/Google and not with the tablet. One good piece of advice: don't junk it up with every app on the planet and it will be a happy little machine and you will get good use out of it. The camera is certainly nothing special but does work well. It is fairly low resolution by today's standard but for just messing around or for kids it is just fine. The screen is crisp and bright and it functions well. It is a nice looking and feeling product and at the often available sale price it is a downright bargain.

Very affordable tablet with a competitive front and rear camera. Tablet has wonderful graphics and great storage. My only complaint is that it is a bit laggy when playing games. You can't have too many programs open at once. This is a great tablet for general use.

My 9 year old received this tablet for Christmas 2016. His amazon tablet/reader had recently stopped working so we needed something affordable as a replacement. The tablet works great and he uses it with ease for internet usage (youtube being his favorite). The only complaint that I have is that the port and cord seem to have issues. The tablet takes forever to charge and if it isn't set "just so" it will stop charging as the connection seems loose. (for example, we plugged it in last night at 10pm, and at 6:30am it was only at 65%. Our iPad charges faster!)

When it is operational, the device can perform some basic functions. For example, it can be useful to keep a child busy on a long trip. However, it is quite slow. Also, from the very beginning, it was having some problems with starting up. It may require many attempts to power up. The problem is getting progressively worse. There are also issues with charging it: often, it simply wouldn't be charged, even though the charger is working with other devices. This problem is also getting worse with time. After several months the tablet is essentially unusable. Judging by the warranty (or lack thereof), the manufacturer does not have a lot of trust in this device either. What is more, it comes with a pre-installed program that several anti-viruses (e.g. McAfee and Malwarebites) identify as a risk (Trojan). Since it comes pre-installed as a part of the system from the vendor, it cannot be removed. Even if the the tablet were working perfectly, I would be concerned about its security.

First off- be reasonable what you can expect for a tablet under a hundred bucks. To fault it for not being as fast as something costing three to ten times as much is ridiculous. It can stream video, it can check email and social media via WiFi, take reasonable quality pics and play most kid games. Anyone trying to run intense games on a fifty dollar tablet and complaining are not in touch with reality. Perfect first "grown up" device for a kid, although keep in mind that tablets are not terribly durable if dropped or sat on. Quite honestly, I'm amazed at the quality of the display and performance. Sure, it's not as good as a $200 or $800 tablet- that's just reality.

I bought this so my daughter could have a cheap little device to play Pokemon Go on. I should have known by the price and specs that it would be a miserable experience. Takes up to 2 minutes to load Pokemon Go and that is if you are lucky where it will sign in on the first try. Most of the time when we were trying to get it to work, it would take 2 attempts which was coming up to be between 2-4 minutes. Once it loaded, it was almost unplayable. 20+ seconds just to spin a gym. The game crashed on us about 5 times and after that we just did a factory reset and boxed it back up. I will be returning this just after 4 long hours of trying to get it worked out. This might be an OK tablet if you just wanted to check email and tinker around on Facebook, but anything that is kind of intensive on the CPU / GPU, it is going to drain the life out of you.

For an entry level tablet this works great. Don't expect a $200 top of the line tablet. Expect a pretty decent build quality with decent components and you will be happy. Bought this for my 4 year old daughter and couldn't be happier. Sounds quality is great, speed is OK for a $70 tablet. If you have too many programs going at once it slows down some, but just if that happens just close the programs or restart the tablet and it is pretty fast again. For a kid tablet I don't think you can pick a better tablet. We tried the "kids" tablets, but the way the OS is altered they did not work for us.

This is an OK tablet. Some apps will not run on it and some blue tooth hardware will not pair up. It is a bit slow to react to commands. The quality of the display is not bad. All in all, this is one of those tablets that if you break it or misplace it you will not shed tears for doing so. It is good for the simpler things you want to do.

I bought this product to last till I could get another CPU. I have never been able to run it without the charger connected. After 6 months of use it wont charge hardly at all. Something is wrong in the charger connection. Just may be a lemon, because everything else is GREAT. I didnt save the reciept...which I usually do. :-/

Bought this to replace my 2 1/2 yr old 8 inch Insignia tablet. I really liked the size and feel of the old one and was very disappointed to see this one is more than an inch narrower than the old one and feels more like my first 7 inch tablet than a full 8 inch tablet. This one is less than 5 inches wide while the other was 6 1/4 inches giving it much more available screen space. Only the length is 8 inches and over one inch of that is not available for actual screen but rather just the case. This is much more like a 7 inch tablet than an 8 inch. That said, I do like the new Android Marshmallow and the speed of this tablet. So far it seems to work well for my needs... Email, surfing web, some research but not major gaming. I was able to find an open box model so the pricing was definitely worth it. If they would expand the width like the old one, it would be more comparable to other 8 inch tablets, and better, IMO.

This is not my first tablet. I had a 7" previously but wanted something larger. I tried a 10" but it was bulky and heavy. So, 8" was a good compromise at a decent price. I don't play games or use any memory intensive apps. Facebook and email is as complicated as I get. This tablet is incredibly slow and locks up regularly. Very frustrating. It is also an odd size, making finding a case for it next to impossible unless you want one of the overpriced Insignia brand covers. Sorry, but this is going to back.

Insignia Flex 8 inch NS-P08A7100 Android 6.0 Tablet. I tried the new 10 inch Flex 10 a week ago and took it back after a day because to many of my usual APPs did not work. Two days ago the local Best Buy received the new Insignia Flex 8 and at $30 less then the 10 inch model and having a couple Reward Zone certificates I bought one. The 10 inch and 8 inch tablets have a lot in common, same CPU/SOC, same RAM, same screen resolution, same nice solid construction. The same APPs that I tried on the 10 inch and wouldn't work, didn't work on the 8 inch version either. I decided to keep the NS-P08A7100 because after a lot of time in the play store I was able to find APPs that could would serve as replacements for my usual apps, that wouldn't work. Streaming media was a problem. I had to try almost a dozen media players before I found one that would stream video from a media server and not drop the connection every two to five minutes. The dedicated Netflix and Xfinity APPs worked fine, but streaming from a media server via Wifi to a media player APP would drop the connection every two to five minutes for most media playback APPs, but I did find one that works OK. The Flex 8 is fast for a budget tablet and compares well to tablets costing much more, and I expect that future software updates will fix the issues with many APPS that have problem now. Battery life is also better then a lot of economy tablets it looks like I will see 5 to 7 hours of Wifi on web browsing and video streaming. I will recommend the new Insignia Flex 8 to my friends and family with the caution that they may have to look for some new APPs in the play store.
