It works!

I just got a brand new iMAC, but my old connection to my projector was via a serial adapter. Using this adapter allowed me to show my screen to the students, while keeping my screen at my iMac resolution - and it also let me use my room amplification system for sound. I was very pleased!

I personally use this adapter to connect my MacBook Air to an HDMI television for classroom presentations. There are no drivers or installation procedures. Simply connect the two devices and you are all set.
