Make note that the color of the watch band is olive green, not black and not grey as the product packaging suggests. Once I got past the shock of discovering the watch color was not a light grey, I slapped it onto the Apple Watch Ultra and proceeded about my week. Marketing teams seem to confuse the term “rugged” with “bulky,” which is a more apt description of this watch band. I have large wrists and hands so I’m generally okay with bulky watch bands but I found a few of my dress shirts could not be fasted at the cuff link due to the bulk of this watchband. I’m not the kind of person who swaps watch bands based on different occasions, I much prefer to have one band on all the time so I took this band through my weekly routine. What I enjoyed most is the clasping mechanism which ensures no amount of movement is going to force the band to come undone. I mostly wear the Apple silicon workout band with the button snap connection and have had a few occasions where during runs the band came lose and I got to unintentionally test how rugged the Apple Watch Ultra really is. The Ultra survived the experience but this is not something that I could repeat with this rugged band. After a few days of yard work which included the watch band getting some mud on it, the band cleaned up nicely with no residual. Overall the band works well at staying attached to the wrist in a comfortable manner and as long as you don’t mind the extra bulk, it’s a good band to have.
