We bought this as the first “smart” accessory to work with our Amazon Echo on impulse. Easy to set up, and it works exactly as advertised. The only con is that it can sometimes take 30-90 seconds to react to the command. I’m not sure where the delay is, so I can’t really blame the switch. If I had done more research, I probably would have upgraded to the next version, as it has a few more features and compatibilities. But, we were just looking for a basic piece of equipment to try out, and this fit the bill! It also introduced us to the insignia smart home app, which is user friendly.

I just love these plugs. I have th em all over my house. They are inexpensive and get the job done. I like that I can control my electronics when I am not at home. Plus, I program them to turn my lights off and on daily. This is very helpful when you are on vacation and as the daylight hours get shorter. I believe they the can also be controlled with Alexa. They are worth the money and if you find them on sale, stock up.

If you read the instructions that come in the box, its very simple to set up. It was also easy to get connected to Alexa as well. The only issue is that a few times, the plug would "go offline", causing me to have to walk up to it and reset it. This happened only two times at first, and since then it has worked perfectly.
Now I can just say "Alexa, turn on Christmas lights" and watch my entire front yard light up!

This wall outlet will make a great addition to anyone’s smart home setup. First of all, the price is great at $15, it certainly allows anyone to piece together components for a smart house without breaking their budget. Secondly, for this device, it’s easy setup which in turn makes scheduling your lights, heaters, fans, decorations, and much more easily themselves. Third, I’m writing this review with my phone, which is plugged into one of these things. That really doesn’t matter, but you get the point.

Overall the Smart plug has been working as intended.
When originally setting up the device it a little longer then I expected. Got almost all the way setup then I had a interruption with my wireless. I easily reset the plug and got it on my wireless.
Once setup it works seamlessly with my Google Home. The scheduling on the app is easy to use and works well.

THIS SWITCH IS A GREAT FIND, NO HUB NEEDED

I bought this to plug a WIFI camera into, in my house. Why? Sometimes the camera locks up and has to be reset, but if I'm not there, I cannot unplug and plug it back in. I know, the camera is the problem, but this seems to happen with many WIFI cameras. So, when this happens, I can use the app, turn the outlet off, then back on.
No HUB is needed to use this switch. You simply plug it into the outlet, follow the instructions in the app to add this switch to the network, and it works. No fussing, it just works. I've used it multiple times already for this purpose and thankfully it is more reliable than the WIFI cameras.
I use a CUJO network protection device, and have a firewall on my router, so I'm not worried about this device getting hacked. That was my initial reason to be concerned about this type of unit.
Anyway, a side benefit of this was when I was having problems with my internet service, when service would blip and return, the app notified me of network problems. Cool feature.
You can probably think of uses for this, whether it is turning lights on or off, or simply using for a purpose such as I've stated, such as resetting a device. This DOES have a schedule feature, so you can schedule things to come on and off.
The app has quite a few great ideas, like layout gives you the ability to setup rooms and devices and in the rooms.

At first the setup was alittle bit of a hassle . I got 3 of them and while I was able to connect to one , it wouldn't find the other 2 ... Then I got 2 and the 3rd was lost ... After a few resets of the plugs , they all showed up and worked great until , for some reason , I got logged out of my account in the Insignia app and lost all connections and had to redo them all .. overall they work fine , though sometimes alittle flakey, but for the cost , don't expect high end

I love this little device. The plug is very easy to set up and use. The Insignia Android application makes setting "On and Off" times a breeze. We purchased two and can have the on and off times of our living room and den light complement each other to simulate us being at home. The app also allow you to turn on at your leisure from your bed.

I got this adapter because it is compatible with Google Home. I got it for one of my big lamps in the living room, and it works great. The app, not so much. The app crashes quite a bit, but you really dont need to use it all the time, just set it up once with the app, give Google Home permission to use it, and then you can forget it, let Google Home do all the work. Would probably buy another if needed, the price is good.

I purchased 3 of these on sale for $15 each. Figured it was a low risk proposition. So far, I’ve had issues connecting to the plugs from the Insignia app — most times it works but some times it does not. Also cannot get these to connect to the app on my wife’s phone even though she’s logged into the same account, so she can’t control the plugs from her phone. Also, I had one unit disconnect from WiFi and I had to reset it. Another device also disconnected from WiFi and I had to unplug it and plug it back in to get it to connect again. Therefore, the jury is out on whether or not these will perform for the long term.

I bought 7 of these on sale and connected it to my Google Home. Directions were straight forward and connecting to home wifi was pretty easy. The only small issue I have is not with the product, rather the wifi coverage in my apt ... one of these is behind a night stand and it's difficult to get wifi so sometimes that particular smartplug doesn't connect. Otherwise, solid good performer. Plan to buy more.

Out of the box they’re hard to set up. The instructions send you to a url that doesn’t exist. Search for the insignia connect app on your phone.
The instructions on the app doesn’t follow logic and neither will get you out of this one. It’s no wonder there’s so many complaints. Here’s what I had to do..
1. Download the app
2. Connect your phone to it via WiFi. The app tells you with iOS just to click done but that doesn’t work. The app won’t recognize it. And the app won’t even load if you’re not hooked up to real wifi.
3. When your browser redirects you, click on your home network and connect it. Let the light go solid.
4. Press and hold the button until it starts flashing again.
5. Connect your phone to it a second time
6. Now the app can find it if you’re quick enough to catch it while the light is still blinking. Log into your B.B. account, name it etc.
If you have problems with them not responding to the app, it’s glitchy. Force close it. Also if you have repeaters for WiFi you might have an issue. I don’t but you might.
And they do work with Alexa. At least via fire tv.

The switch is of good quality and is easy to setup. The App is very basic and can do with an upgrade. Basically it is slow to detect and display the connected devices.
It provides multiple basic On/off schedules on the job. So for each on/off schedule you have to configure a job. Haven't yet hooked up to Alexa - but there is a way to do it.

i have other smart plugs that have more complicated setup procedures to get on the network. This one basically installed itself. It works great with Alexa using one of the skills. Setting schedules is easy and I have had no problems with Alexa turning it on and off.

I needed these urgently for holiday lights, because I wanted to control the lights to allow trees and bushes to get some sleep as well.
My phone runs on ios 11.2, and setup of these on ios can be tricky. The instructions say to hit “Done” after connecting to insignia wifi (the device’s wifi), but the trick is to hit Done after 2 to 3 seconds.
If you wait for the wifi connection screen to resolve, you’ve waited too long.
If you dont get the Insignia wifi connecting screen, you haven’t waited long enough.
I used the ‘insignia connect’ app from the app store to first connect to the devices. Once the setup worked, i was able to connect them to google home and provide voice commands. Very useful if you can get the setup to work. Took me three tries. Insignia makes good stuff but user experience has to be improved. We like intuitive in the world of iphone.
Once they r up and running, you can be anywhere in the world and turn on/off lights, i.e you dont have to be on the same wireless network as the wifi plugs.
Will update review to share how they held up. They r out in the porch in winter for now.

This plug works great and is super easy to set up. Once set up is complete, add you profile Alexa app and you are ready to command Alexa to turn the plug on or off. The plug’s app will allow you to work the plug while away from the home. Awesome little plug.

I purchased this to pair with my google home mini. It works great, but I noticed after a month it disconnects on its own and you have to pair it again. At first I wondered if it was my WiFi but after checking all of my other devices I noticed it was just this one. But still not bad for the price!

This product is too hard to reconnect to Wi-Fi if the connection is lost. I purchased several more but returned them. Sorry but just too darn difficult for what they do. Loses connection too much and then takes hours to reconnect even if you reset to factory settings! Not worth the headache. But it is priced right and wonderful if it stays connected. If you have the patience go for it. It works well if you do not have a connection problem.
