I'll admit I am technology challenged and I had to have someone with me to install this. Funny thing is...I ended up doing it myself because it was so easy!!! Simply plug in, download the app to your phone, it will automatically find that and you name it and Poof!!! Done!!! I used to have my livingroom light on a timer which was old and made noise all the time and I am sure cost a lot because it ran all the time. Well...not anymore!!! If I hear a noise outside at night I can turn my living room light on from the safety of my bed. Super easy to set up and use.
I like the the app I downloaded. It will allow me to add more outlets and since I name each one, I will be able to control LOTS of things at the touch of a button. Great gift for someone that lives alone!!!

My local Best buy was running a sale $19.99 they where $5 off after you download the app. Installation was simple and setting up schedules was very easy! I purchased them to use with our Google home and once set up they have been perfect. No drops or disconnects.

Directions make it seem super easy! It is not! Too a long time to get to connect to WiFi then required numerous times to connect to my WiFi. It stopped working all of a sudden. Then unplugged for three days and it worked again after about 20 minutes trying to set it up. BUT, when it works, I love how when I have my hands full I can say turn lights on! Works great with my google mini!

With the mobile app, you can set this up to act as a timer. App also lets you turn the item on/off at will and connects to Google home for voice control. App can be glitchy sometimes and no manual on/off button make it lose a star.

This is great I got it for my Christmas tree and connected with alexa you can just ask to turn on the tree. And also set timers so so the lights automatically come on when ever you want. Setup up was a breeze atleast through a smart phone.

Setting up your account on Best Buy web site took longer than setting up the plug. After complete, the plug works without issue and setting up a schedule works great. Tied account to Google Home and voice control now works without issue.

These wifi plugs are a little bit of a challenge to connect to wifi (if u have multiple networks and want them on a specific one) the app is slightly glitchy but once I finally got one connected it was a piece of cake and they work great!

The smart plug was easy to set up and is useful to control the lights on the Christmas tree. It can be used remotely in addition to setting a schedule. I'm sure I'll find another use for it after the holiday season.

We’ve had these for about month now. It took a frw minutes to set them up and the app refused to work through the Alexa app at first. After closing the app and trying again it worked like a charm.
We’ve only had one weird issue where the plug would not respond but I think it was just our WiFi network acting up for some reason. Other than that, these little plugs have been reliable and trustworthy. They respond very well to our Alexa commands and we have no need to use the Insignia app.
We use them to control our tv/soundbar and our living room light.
We’re very happy with them.

I’ve had the plugs for a month. Took some time but I have sucessfully connected 11 plugs. All my window lights now turn on and off together. The problem is the app. Read the reviews, they are dead on accurate. App needs a lot of work. Overall buy these on sale. Don’t pay more than $14.99 each on sale. Any higher price, you can do better.

"The token is invalid"

I like the concept of having a smart switch at an affordable price. However this being a name brand product sold by Best Buy, you'd expect it to work. The relay itself functions properly, but the app is incredibly bad. When setting up the outlet for the first time it's truly a matter of luck for it to connect, you have to try multiple times (I bought 6 of these and took me about an hour using 2 different phones). Also, sometimes the app will not.. and I mean this... Will not start at all, instead it gives an error saying "the token is invalid", not even Google Home can control them sometimes. I closed the app, reset the phone... But nothing.. it's so disappointing that it basically defeats the purpose of having a "smart" outlet in the first place. I'm really wondering who on earth decided they could release such mediocre piece of software to the public.

cheapest smart plug I found so far on sale for $15.00...simple and works, but the set up was a bit confusing. You must download the insignia app and register an account. It allows you to use your best buy account or create one. I attempted to create one to no avail it just wouldn't accept it and kept saying there was an error, so I finally used my best buy acct and all was good...very strange to say the least. but once it was up an running, it worked flawlessly. The device can be controlled by your phone through the app and it works well with Google Home (cant answer if it works with Alexa since I don't have one). If you can find it on sale it's definitely worth it!

This is a quick and easy set up. The directions are very straight forward. You basically toggle between your phone's network settings and the Insignia app (BestBuy's app). Nice options exist such as auto repeat (have your bedroom lamp go on or off at a specified hour each day - or - have the lamp go on and off at random times). Control anything you plug into this... curling iron (have it hot at a predefined time each day), coffee maker, fan, etc. You can control the plug through an Internet connection anywhere in the world.

It's nice to be able to control non-smart electronics with my voice or phone. Unfortunately the insignia plugs I have a frequently slow to respond and often disconnect from the wifi, making them useless. I don't have any issues with my name brand smart home devices. I suppose you get what you pay for.

With this being the first smart item I tried, it was pretty simple to "install". You plug it in and after you download it's app (Android phone), it was pretty easy to set it on a schedule. I only have it controlling a night light for now, but it works perfectly. I think I'll put my Christmas tree on it as the old school analog bulky timers are a pain to control, and you have to actually go to the timer to adjust, where this can be done anywhere I have my phone. Love the techno gadgets that make life easier. Wish they were cheaper though.

It was easy to setup and does the job. It works well with Alexa. The only problem is you need to have a good wifi or there will be lag between the command and the switch turning on.

These are great smart outlets. They connect to Google Assistant/Home, they allow for schedules and remote control of your outlet-connected devices. I use one for three living room lights and it's exactly what I needed. A lot of people are complaining about the software, but I don't really see any issues. It isn't the most beautiful software UI I've ever seen, but it works fine. I do wish that a feature like having the outlet turn off after a certain amount of time would develop, but other than that, it's a great product.

Totally worth the $15. Much easier to program than a timer and can turn things on remotely. Hooked it up to my Christmas tree.
