Works as expected. The app required to set this thing up is horrendous. But once set up, works like a charm. I hooked it up with my google home and works well.

I like the plug, the app isn't bad, though the device could be empowered further with some nice to have functionality. Those include: having timers on the app to toggle the plug, geofencing to turn on or off based on your phone's location, IFTTT integration for IFTTT recipes and functions, Samsung SmartThings integration to utilize the sensors and smart devices that SmartThings is compatible with, and I think that introducing a similar device as a power strip, each plug switched individually could make Insignia a brand and force to be reckoned with in the smart home. But still a pretty good product.

This simple adapter is a simpler version among wi-fi controlled outlets. From a cost perspective, it is a great value - you can control whatever is plugged in via the internet and has the ability to set timers (seems most logical for lights). The device is easy to set up. It uses your bestbuy.com account for it to work. So far, no major problems. The minor issue is that it seems to temporarily lose connectivity (similar to many developing internet based products). Overall, this is a great option, with much "smarter" products out there for much more $$$. If you want a simple product, you should be happy.

I bought this based on the positive reviews on Best Buy and I’m absolutely pleased with it! You download the app and it’s very easy and simple. It helped me save a lot of energy especially when I’m not home and My pets are at home. Now instead of turning the lights on from the time I leave home for several hours in daylight I can control it by scheduling a time on the app instead. Also when I’m away from home especially during the holidays. Love this item and I highly recommend it

I originally ordered one of these smart plugs to help with my 6 year old getting up in the middle of the night and watching TV in her room when we were asleep. Seeing it was usually a school night her late night viewing was causing her to not wake up as she usually did. With this smart plug I was able to set a schedule that turned off the TV power and now she sleeps all night knowing her TV wont work if she should wake up and tune in. I only have it set up for school nights and it works great! So great that I ordered 2 more to use around the house to work lights when we are gone. So much easier than a timer and gives you the control to turn on/off the lights as you desire. Simple to set up and if you do have an issue then just hit re-set and start fresh. The phone app connects flawlessly to the smart plug and best of all I can control it through our Alexa devices as well. I'm glad my daughter can't read my reviews or she would learn to have Alexa turn on her TV at 2 a.m.! Well worth the price and I for one am very pleased with these Insignia WiFi Smart Plugs. I have had absolutely no problems with them and they work every time. Just in case you do have a WiFi issue you can turn them on/off manually as well. Another secret my daughter hasn't any knowledge of, yet anyway... A great buy at Best Buy!

Very easy to set up and awesome to use with your Christmas tree and lights and turn them on anywhere and when you come home you get to see the lights on.

This is the first smart plug that I bought and I must say that it's doing a job very well. I had some minor hiccups while setting up initially, but once I setup, it worked perfectly. There are only few times, it loose Wifi connectivity and you have to reset it up. But, that's very quick. I like the feature of operating it from anywhere through Insignia app.. am using it for more than 1 year, Overall a ver good quality product.

The smart plug was my first smart product and I love it. I easily turn on my light using my voice with my Amazon Echo Dot, but the plug can also be easily controlled with its smart phone app. My favorite thing about the smart plug is that you can make schedules when you want the product on or off. With my smart plug hooked up to my light, I can apply a schedule where my lights turn on/off for several hours each night when I happen to be out of town

I bought this to help with my holiday lights every day. I already own a few of the TP link plugs but wanted to try this because of the sale price. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it. Setup was simple and straightforward. Pairing it with Google home and Alexa devices was simple. Plug doesn't lose connection and if power is lost it reconnected every time with no additional work from me. Do not know what other reviewers find so complicated about using a smart plug that they give it a poor rating. The device just works and works well.

I purchased this to replace a Clapper that my mom had set to a lamp in her home. I had recently set up an Echo Dot in her home This device was pretty easy to set up and link to the echo. It works so much better than walking in and applauding the lamp until it turns on. One day however, it became unresponsive. Alexa was confirming that she was turning it on but I was still in the dark. I ended up needing to unpliug the outlet and plugging it back in. After it refreshed its wifi connection, it worked again and has ever since.

My son wanted to be able to turn his bedroom light on using Alexa, this Works pretty well. Easy to use with Amazon Alexa. Would recommend

I wanted to preface this review by saying that, according to the FAQ page on the app, this plug NOW WORKS WITH ALEXA (AMAZON ECHO). Insignia says that a Google Home update is in the works, but not quite ready yet. I am a Google Home owner, so I am anxiously awaiting that update. That also means that I can't comment on how well it works with Alexa. I recommend you give it a shot since it is cheap and you have a 15 day return policy. I bought one of these for the Christmas tree a few months ago so that we could put it on a timer. Now that the tree has been taken down, we now use it to turn on a lamp in the living room so that we never come home to a dark house. I schedule it to come on every day at about sundown. Today I bought a second one to control my wife's bedside fan. She often falls asleep without turning it on, so now I can turn it on for her without getting up and disturbing her. The product has worked great and never fails. The app is easy to use and straightforward. I hope that they add a useful widget on the Android version in the future. The very first time you use it to switch a plug on or off, it is a little slow. However, after that first time I have never noticed a delay of more than a couple of seconds. Make sure you have a good wireless router and that the plug is not located in a dead spot. This device needs consistent access to Wi-Fi to work properly, so make sure your home network is ready for all of the smart home goodies you want to add by investing in a decent router. I am awaiting the Google Home update, and I also am looking forward to more smart home products from Insignia. A smart light bulb would be a great next step!

I got this during Black Friday for $15. I have several smart products at home and thought this would be a good addition. I'm currently using it to control my Christmas tree lights. It even works with Alexa (and Google Home) so I can tell her to turn the Christmas tree on and off. It's pretty neat. I'm sure we'll find other uses for this after the holidays. It's working fine so far and was easy to set up the app on my phone.

The insignia switch works with the Amazon Echo. It also controls light from a smart phone. It was easy to set up and the price was right.

Works well with my Google Home and with the Insignia app. I am able to turn the lights on and off from anywhere using my smart phone.

This little plug is a perfect affordable solution for a smart home, i bought one to give it a try, worked like a charm, occupies only one outlet, doesn't block another. I went out and bought another 4 and i got the whole house linked to my Google Assistant and it works great. Highly recommend it. Ps: if you encounter trouble connecting or setting up one, just Uninstall and reinstall the app and retry. Works every time

Great wifi switch. Easy to setup. Synced to amazon echo commands easily as well. Times out occasionally but re syncs to wifi easily.

So I had it for a couple weeks and set it up with my Alexa echo plus and it was working half the time and it took forever to pair. The price is unbeatable but you will be frustrated when it doesn't work 100% of the time.

Good plug for home automation and great for the price. If best buy fix the widget problem on the app, then I'd give it 5 stars

This is great to put a lamp to or other plug in light. If I am out of town or running late getting home. This works great because I can still controll the lights. I put these om a few lights so that when I'm out of town I can still turn lights on and off. It allows you to turn them on and off whenever you want so it dosent look programed. Makes it hard to tell if someone is home or not.
