I've used basic timers for a while and always ran into problems. I decided to step up and invest in this smart outlet and have really enjoyed its versatility. It allows you to set schedules for the item you plug into it. It allows you to turn on the item with virtual ease using the app on your phone. Makes coming home to a dark home a thing of the past! Highly recommend this smart plug!

I bought a few of these on sale to test and, for the most part, they work well. I would not purchase these at full retail price because there are too many issues losing wifi connection and setting up the Best Buy logon and software required to set these up. Constantly has issues when logging on to the account from different devices such as iPad, Samsung cell phone, etc. Loses config and doesn't show devices and schedules.

The smart plug has been a [mostly] painless experience. I say "mostly" because initial set up is a pain. However, after that, I haven't had to touch it - it just does its thing! Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase!
The app is also simple to use, while offering many features. Once everything is set up, I can easily adjust times and on/off from anywhere.

The plug is pretty simple - it won't work for setting levels on items (i.e. if you use it for a lamp, you can't set the brightness). We use two on a fish tank and a turtle tank to turn them on and off instead of having to manually rummage around for switches (especially on the turtle tank, as there are two lights).
We did have a slight issue where both stopped working due to maintenance on Best Buy's end. Both devices fell off the app and had to be re-added after maintenance was completed. I'm not a fan of the fact we have to go through Best Buy in order to use, but it is what it is. Hopefully, we won't have further issues due to unexpected issues out of our control.

We have a Google Home. Associate assisted us with the plugs. Setup was easy. Had it setup for the Christmas Tree and lights in the house. Once we take down..will have it attached to a lamp or other fixture. Bought two of them. Work great. And you can also use your app on your phone to turn on/off if you don't feel like chatting with your Google Device.

With the google home mini my sons are really enjoying the flexibility of the wifi plugs to control the electronics in their rooms. Only problem is I now have to buy them more...they of course want voice control over everything plugged in. Really hoping for a sale at this point!! Great product easy setup and works perfect. Definitely recommend

Works great! Love not having to move furniture in order to set timers. Easy enough to turn on lamps, etc. when away from home, too, to make it look like someone is there for security. Easy to turn on and off without having to be in the same room as the timer. Great for starting coffee makers that don't have a timer option, as well.

I desperately needed this WiFi smart plug to auto schedule on/off my humidifier in the night which I had plugged in to this smart plug. Otherwise I had to walk to the other side of my bed everyday in the dark disturbing sleeping members. The App that comes with the smart plug is very useful in setting up a schedule and turning on and off an appliance connected to the smart plug. Just plug in any device to the smart plug and set up a schedule that you need and enjoy watching the plugged in device turning on and off effortlessly without any intervention. Or turn on/off as per your need through the smart phone App without having to walk all the way.
Others uses - You can flash your house lights while you're out to indicate your presence :).
You get a piece of mind as you can turn off a plugged in device from anywhere in the world.
Plug in your lights and set them to turn on in the evening and turn off before going to bed automatically.
Best of all it works with Amazon Echo, Google Home, Google Assistant on Android phone etc., I haven't tried other devices though. So you can also control on/off with your voice anytime.

I got two of these to turn my lights on and off while I'm out of town.
They work seamlessly with my Google home mini. All I have to do is say turn on hallway light and they're on!
You can also program lights to come on and off anytime you want.
No hub is needed which is great. Plus I got these on sale for less than $20.

Bought for my 20-ish son to add to his smart room with Alexa and Hue lights. He was not able to connect successfully through the app. I was able to download the Insignia app and connect downstairs no problem and it seemed to work fine through the app and integrated in my Echo dot. I tried on his iphone and it will not complete the setup for some reason so I kept it downstairs and traded him my WeMo plug.

I recently purchased the Insignia Wifi Smart plugs (2 of them) and was super excited to add them to my smart home devices. With the recent purchase of an Echo Dot I wanted to add some flexibility with turning on lights. I installed the plugs but the actual connection to wifi was a nightmare. What should have been an easy process took me about 45 minutes for each device. It was very frustrating. Once connected to the wifi however I have not had any issues and they have been working just fine with the Echo Dot. The price was appealing but the set up was not. I would 2nd guess buying again.

This would have been a 5 star product had the app not have as many issues as it does. This plug does not connect to a 5Ghz network, it has to be 2.4ghz which made it harder for me to setup since my other network is not as strong as my 5ghz network. The app itself crashed a couple of times during my initial setup. I have found myself having to sign into the app a couple times outside of my home network. One time I could not remotely access the plug since for some reason the app had forgotten my device, it wasn't until I got home that the app recognized the plug again. Very annoying to deal with.
