It does what it was intended to do. It was easy to set up. So I do not know why some reviewers had difficulty. Just follow the directions step by step. The reason I did not give it five stars is the horizontal design. I could not plus it into the outlet by my Christmas tree. While this was not the fault of the plug, I have seen others that would not have had this problem

I've had to factory reset this unit once in 30 days already since it stopped working. Would just blink eternally. I dunno if it relies on a cloud system that maybe was down, but all my other devices worked. Even after factory reset (twice) it took several hours to stop blinking, even though it was working. Very strange. I wouldn't put one where you are relying on it.

Took several tries to get this plug activated in the Insignia app, not even sure how I finally got it to work. Once connected I tried doing schedules and no matter what the times were off, sometimes and hour, sometimes 16 minutes or another random time. I added it to Alexa and then used Routines in that to schedule it and that is always spot on for the time. Once you use the app to eventually connect this switch just plan on not using it. I am saying I would recommend to a friend but we are all very technology savvy, if you're not then don't buy this switch

I used this while I was on vacation. Came in very handy. While I was away I had a lamp in my living room plugged into it. I just turned it on and off when I wanted. You can put a schedule into it also but I wanted it to be random so it looked as though someone was home. Worked perfectly for me.

happy with this smart plug. Less expensive than other brands, even before being on sale. in addition, it's smaller and can plug in sideways on a power strip, something things like the WeMo can't. Only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that there is a noticible delay when turning on the plug from the app, compared to other brands. not a deal breaker tho-I would buy again.

Easy setup. I have use it several times when I'm out of town .

These devices are great to have. Nothing fancy here, have only used them with the iphone application. The iphone app has been updated and the setup is much easier than with previous versions (as of 10/20/2017). I use mine with amateur radio equipment that is remotable. This turns the power off and on to the transciever, so it is only on when I want it to be.

I had some minor connection problems initially, but we seem to be just fine now. The lamp is simple to switch on using the app or voice via Google Assistant. I love that I can turn on the lamp I have it connected to when I'm away from home. It is extremely useful when we are out a little longer than expected and don't want to leave our dog in the dark.

I purchased this item a couple of months ago and placed it on a lamp in my dining room. It works for a week or two but every now and then, when I tell the Google Home app to turn on the lamp, it states that the item is not available - however, it doesn't explain why. I can only figure that every once in a while, if the internet goes out temporarily, you have to re-set the Smart Plug's availability status in the application. It does allow me to tell the light to turn on from Google Home and to change the colors when it IS working.

I bought this for my self during Black Friday and it was better than I expected. Why you need to buy the more expensive one when this product is working as you expecting? I'm very pleased and happy with this item. Im using it with Google Home to control by voice. It works perfectly.

I wanted something sort of entry-level price-wise and found this on sale at the time for around the same price as a timer I needed for my Christmas lights. So it was a no-brainer for me. It worked so perfectly with my Google Home that I bought three more while they were still on sale.

Works like a charm. I control lights at my house from my phone giving the appearance that someone is home even when we're not. I prefer turning them on and off manually from my phone, but there is also a scheduled feature I could use. I'm going to purchase more units for my vacation home.

This is an outstanding addition to my Smarthome investment. The only downside is the Insignia app which is buggy. However, their support team has been very responsive with getting the bugs worked out. The bugs don't make the app unusable, just a little inconvenient. I would give this product 5 stars if not for the app in it's current condition.

Could not get my last two Wemo plugs to connect to my home wi-fi , So I returned them. Bought this plug for half the price of Wemo and viola, seamless set-up and works great with Google Home. If your buying for looks Wemo wins, if buying for function Insignia plug hands down.

I bought one in December to go with the new Amazon Echo. It was easy to set up and worked well for about a week and then it quit working. I called tech support and they said there was an issue with the software and an upgrade was coming in a couple of days. Wait I did and work it does now. Bought another I did and both are working fine.

Easy to set up. I plug Christmas lights into it that I light my room with year round. Love it. I will say, the app is buggy, especially if I turned off the switch with the button instead of the app, and there isn't any Google home connectivity (Yet...) Definitely a great buy, a cheap way to start your smart home upgrade, and lots of features coming.

I use the switches with my Echo Dot. To turn my Christmas Tree on all Ihave to do is say Tree On. I actually have 4 switches throughout the house. I am also able to set a timer, as well as turn lights on and off from my phone or iPad. Its geeat and not very expensive,

The app to set this device up is terrible. I tried connecting it to two different WiFi device, second one worked as the light switched to solid green instead of blinking but would not show in the app that I had completed set up process just wanted me to proceed setting it up. If I tried proceeding my WiFi would no longer show as an open option since it was already technically connected without the app acknowledging that.

The app doesnt even exist anymore, so they shouldnt even be selling it as advertised because the item does not work as advertised when I bought it because that app is what controls the smart plug. I have to get up and push the button. If i wanted to do that, i could have done that for free
