I bought this trying to be cheap because its a little cheaper than the light dimming modules - does not work well for those because my lamp would stay on very dim even when unit was off - obviously not intended use. Use the dimming modules - those work great although cost a little more.
I used for a ceiling attic fan located in my attic that is hard to get to and works great.

Works where my other X10 devices fail. Why buy unreliable X10 when Insteon has the reliability and robustness to get the job done?

I purchased this as an accessory to the starter kit and camera. It was very easy to connect and it worked the first time I plugged it in.
Worked in the iPhone app as well. I plan on buying a few more soon.

This is my second appliancelinc as the first one seemed to be getting weaker signal communication, but works as advertised.

Does exactly what it's supposed to do within a home automation system... turns devices on / off based on a schedule or can be added with additional devices to create a "scene". In order to use this and any other Insteon product you will need their hub or another manufactures compatible hub as the "brains" of the system. You can also download / purchase software to run on a PC or Mac, but that system has to be always on in order for certain schedules and events to occur. I started with an Insteon starter kit and have been expanding ever since.
