Customers have good things to say about the Roomba 650's cleaning performance, ease of use, pet hair removal capabilities, and battery life. Many appreciate its scheduling feature and its ability to pick up dirt effectively. However, some customers point out that the navigation could be improved, and the noise level is sometimes a concern. The small dustbin size and occasional docking issues are also mentioned as drawbacks.

I always considered myself a clean person and thought that my upright vacuum was getting my floors clean. The first time I ran the Roomba I was STUNNED how much dust and pet hair it picked up. It is able to clean under all my furniture, which makes a big difference. I purchased a Roomba because I moved into a new house that had mostly tile floors and the daily sweeping of pet hair was getting annoying. It does a great job of picking up the daily deposits of pet hair and debris that gets tracked in from outside. I schedule the Roomba to run every day while I'm at work, and I usually come home to clean floors. I have, on occasion come home to the Roomba not being back on its dock because it has gotten itself stuck somewhere. Most often it ends up getting stuck in a room because it cause the door to close when it bumps into it. It'll stay in that room cleaning until the battery dies. It also gets stuck on my "Poang" chair from Ikea. It drives over the chair's tracks and most of the time clears it, but occasionally it hits it at the wrong angle and gets stuck. It seems like it eventually stops trying to get off and shuts down, because when I find it stuck there the battery isn't dead like when it locks itself in my bedroom. Still, this little device is GREAT. It does exactly what I need it to do in keeping my floors clean so they don't need daily maintenance. I am so happy with the $399 model, I can't imagine the $500-700 models being any better.

The vacuum doesn't empty itself and doesn't always find it's way home. Neither are a big deal, I'm willing to take 30 seconds to empty it out and put it on it's dock. It runs for about an hour on each charge and takes about an hour and a half or so to charge. I've run it multiple times a day when I've been home, as a test. It just keeps picking up stuff. Why? Because I have a dog, with a lot of fur. Setting the schedule is very easy. I do clean out the bottom bristles periodically which takes about 5 minutes. I've had it for about a month. Go ahead and get it. You'll be glad you did.

We were curious about robot vacuums and did a lot of research. All roads led to the Roomba machines. We bought a 650 and an 880. We have a two-story house and thought we would like the 880 for the heavy work and the 650 would be used on the other floor. It turned out that the extra features of the 880 didn’t matter to us. We didn’t use any of the timer features on either machine and the 650 cleaned just as well and was quieter. We ended up returning the 880 and bought another 650. It is easy to clean and usually finds its own way back to the charging station. We needed to move thinner wires out of its reach, such as the plug for the wireless phone docks as well as cell phone and tablet charging cables. Also, if the end of the toilet paper is too close to the floor, the Roomba will grab it and string it throughout the house. These little inconveniences are well worth having floors that always feel scrubbed clean.

I use this more than I thought I would and I love it. Cleans well enough for everyday touch-ups. Easy to clean, does a whole floor of my house before running out of charge. I wish I had bought this earlier and spared myself a lot of vacuuming! Does get caught in electronic cords, but doesn't damage them.

This is our second roomba. We had a 560 that we purchased 4 years ago that stopped working (due to mishaps unrelated to quality of the machine). We finally decided to purchase another and I am so glad we did. Much of my feedback is in comparison to the previous novel. While the construction seems cheaper than the previous model, it seems to work better at picking up dirt and dog hair. It runs without getting stuck much longer than the previous model also telling me the programming has improved. I also really like how it tells you the error rather than having to count beeps to figure out the error. It isn't quiet, but we run it when we are gone or in another part of the house. When it is run in the part of the house with the dock, it is able to dock itself much better than our last one (and we even have the dock under a cabinet now). It does not have the round brush cleaning tool that was so helpful with the 560 and it only comes with one virtual wall. Those are two downfalls but either could be purchased if needed. I am so glad we decided to jnvest in a new machine.

It's pretty amazing. We have 800 feet of cherry hardwood and pets. It's pretty amazing going under chairs and tables. It's a little noisy but boy does it clean. Cool to watch it dock all by itself when it needs a recharge. Fairly easy to dump the dirt too. Highly recommend

I was skeptical about purchasing this; but the reviews seemed overall good. I have 2 large dogs and tile all downstairs. It doesn't get everything, but it picks up so much hair! You'll see when you open the dust cup. It's always filled with hair and dirt. I sometimes run it 2 times a day on the weekend. It still makes the rooms feel clean. It's great. I absolutely love it. I'll go around and pick up and things that could get caught like iPhone charging cords or papers. But it rarely gets stuck. Just let it do its thing. We named ours Rudy. Haha. It's amazing. Especially being 9 months pregnant...it makes my life soooo much easier. The dogs were a little leary of it at first, but they're fine now. They just try to stay out of its way!

    Great cleaning solution

Obviously the Roomba is considerably more expensive than a normal vacuum cleaner. But if you value time over money, and if your living space is not too cluttered, this is a perfect cleaning solution that will save you a ton of time in housekeeping. I love that I can turn it on just as I'm leaving for work, come back home to a clean apartment, and the Roomba will be fully charged since it returns to its docking station when it finishes. Its effectiveness depends on your setup. If you have fairly static furniture, and everything isn't too cramped together, this will work for you. The Roomba navigates around your place, and when it bumps into something, it changes direction and continues cleaning. Obviously if you have a ton of stuff that it will keep running into, it makes cleaning more difficult. The Roomba can't get to everything. Obviously it's not going to get in those narrow spaces where only a stick can fit, but it will cut down on your cleaning time by a lot. Instead of spending an hour or two vacuuming my place on a weekend, I spend 5-10 minutes using a Swiffer to get to those areas the Roomba can't reach. And that's it. Highly recommended purchase.

Was a bit apprehensive before buying, but does an impressive job vacuuming. We have hardwood floors in all our rooms, and the roomba has no problems traveling between them. (Even over the elevated 1" inch dividers). It is louder than expected, but I suspect that's due to the hardwood floors. I imagine it would be quieter on carpet. The dirt trap is slightly harder to remove than the higher end models. It takes a random path when cleaning, but it manages to pick up everything eventually (after repeated uses). It is not compatible with the lighthouse accessories, but does come with 1 invisible fence.

The good: Gets cat hair no problem. We have 3 cats, one of which sheds a ton and the machine picks up without any issues. Cleans 1000 square feet (kitchen/living room) in about 30 minutes. Traverses over area rugs and throw rugs in bathroom with no issues. Drives the cats nuts which is fun to watch. The bad: Unit is quite loud and it won't pick up larger objects. Unit has issues docking. If it doesn't line itself up perfectly it keeps pushing the dock around. Overall: solid unit but would recommend trying to get on sale. We got on black Friday.

I love this roomba. Just installed hardwood floors in kitchen, living room and hall way. Was tired of pulling out vacuum cleaner everyday because you could see every spec of dust on the floor. Run roomba everyday and it does and great job and doesn't take the same path all the time. It picks up a lot of dirt. I don't have pets, but Im sure it would be great.

Purchased this to handle my two dogs fur that seems to be all over the house. Prior to purchasing Roomba 650 we were running the large vacuum daily. Roomba (Tobor) does a fantastic job of picking up the dog hair on a daily basis. This has helped us cut down on using the large vacuum and saved us over three hours a week. We have a five room down lower level and Tobor cleans every room prior to finding it's way back to the charger, Cleans wood, tile, and non shag carpet. The only complaint is that it needs to be stopped a couple of times during each cleaning, before it finishes to empty the dirt bin. It only picks up if the dirt bin is not full and the dog hair fills up the bin quickly. My dogs shed a ton. Tobor has saved us at least a half hour every day. Also it works whether we are here or not.

Robert (our name for our Roomba) does a great job picking up dirt. It also does a pretty good job wandering around the house, but you'd better do some preparation before turning him loose. On the first day, Robert knocked over a card table, which fell on him and gave him his first ding. You also want to make sure that there are no wires on the floor that he can reach. You don't want him to be pulling on them and have who-knows-what fall off a table. He's also not that great at re-docking. He has to be pretty close to the dock and, even then, he gets lost sometimes. Beyond those items, we have no complaints.

This roomba works really well. It's nice being able to get other things done around your house or apartment while the floors are being cleaned. From my experience, this roomba does a great job on both carpets and hardwood floors. It does go about vacuuming in a strange pattern and if you're watching it in real time, you would think that there's no way it will clean and cover the areas properly. But as long as you let it do it's thing, the roomba will cover at least 95% of the accessible floor space. It does a decent job of slowing down and avoiding furniture and walls, but does bump into table and chair legs quite often (probably b/c the surface area on those things are small so the sensor doesn't recognize it completely). Regardless, once it bumps into something, it'll adjust accordingly more often than not. It roomba also comes with a small device that shoots out an infared beam so you can essentially create a "virtual wall" if you wish to confine the roomba within a specific space. Roomba vacuuming does not replace your traditional, deep vacuuming. But for something that you can turn on when you're not at home, it will do a fantastic job of cleaning during the week, enabling you to not have to deep vacuum as frequently as you once did. That in itself is fantastic. The only knocks on it is the small container where it stores the dirt. Because of that, I usually empty it during the middle of a roomba cleaning session.

This vacuum has been a lifesaver! The constant vacuuming daily to keep the floors clean have been replaced with a relaxing morning with a cup of coffee while the irobot cleans up for me. The robot does a thorough job, transitions nicely from carpet to hard floors and is easy to program. Very easy to clean and hasn't given me any issues. I keep telling everyone they need to buy one, wish I hadn't waited so long to purchase mine!

I purchased the Roomba 650. At first, I was skeptical of what it can do. It took a few days for me to take it out of the box thinking that I've wasted my money on this. Finally, I figured, why not? Let's try it! It was easy. Hardly no set up at all. It was bigger than I expected it to be...but that really didn't bother me. I just let it do its thing...it is loud though. I have tile on my living room floor downstairs - which is where DJ Roomba lives, and he does a good job of picking up dirt and especially dog hair. So, I let it do its thing while I stay upstairs to avoid the constant whooshing of its vacuum. After it's done, it docks itself. My Roomba is too big to fit under my couch - which I have heard can be a problem when it gets stuck. So far, so good!

I love my iRobot Roomba (a.k.a. Rosie). It's great to be able to program the Roomba and know that every day (or whatever the program is set for) the floors will be cleaned. Be careful not to leave loose items laying on the floor and make sure that there is not anything that the Roomba can become unleveled by running onto. Other than that it is like the rotisserie of vacuums, set it and forget it!

I got the 650 rather than the 770 due to reading reviews like this one and I am not disappointed at all. The 650 does not use a HEPA system like the 770, nor does it come with the remote control and second lighthouse. So the 770 costs more, but the additional cost is easily offset just by the additional lighthouse and remote ... about $80 aftermarket cost to purchase. Also, HEPA filtration would be nice to have; however, the 770 has had complaints about getting into areas and opening up the lint/debris disposal tray. The 650 requires a very deliberate opening of this tray and I think they tried to make it a little easier for people to do with one hand and sort of created a minor flaw, although it appears the 770 has to get into a very specific situation to open the disposal tray on its own. Due to the fact that I wanted to program my unit to run while I wasn't home, I did not want to worry with it shutting itself off after it accidentally opened the lint/debris tray. So for the 650 review... it's awesome. I have had a cleaning lady who came to my house every other week for 7 years. I decided that I wasn't getting my money's worth so I let her go and got this device. It has been a few months now and I haven't regretted my decision. The unit is scheduled to run at 5am on Wednesday mornings (you can schedule for any time and any day, but only once a day). It can clean a very large area (1000 sq. ft.), in 2 hours and does a better job at base boards than any human. You will read about people Roomba proofing their homes, but I haven't had to change much. It will eat cords, curtains and other things, but has refused everything I have seen it vacuum up that it shouldn't have vacummed up and sort of runs away from it. Also, it seems to pick up on these areas and slows down the next time it proceeds towards them as to reduce the need to reverse and run away. Trust me, you will find yourself watching this thing work and be amazed each time you empty the "lint tray" .. this is the only thing I can find it being called. I have a large home, over 4000 sq. ft. and I allow the unit to clean half of it at 5am on Wednesdays and use the lighthouse; you get "1" lighthouse with the 650, to block off the other half of the house... the lighthouse is also an amazing device. It docks itself back into its charging station and once I get home I put it into the back portion of the downstairs. It makes noise, but if it's on another level or within a room or down a hallway it doesn't interfere with conversation, work or entertainment. Again I get amusement by watching the thing half the time, which drives the rest of my family crazy. I put it into the other half of the house during the afternoon and up stairs usually on a Saturday or Sunday morning during breakfast. The unit will not fall down stairs. I would suggest running the unit over the entire house two to three times the first week you get it, then once a week thereafter. The unit will more than likely get stuck somewhere during that first week; for me it was under a dresser that had space for the Roomba to move under, but had an arched bottom board where the Roomba managed to wedge itself under the low portion of the arch...again it seemed to learn what not to do and it hasn't done it since. It also works well on both carpet and hard surfaces; however, we have a rug it doesn't like. It is a very shaggy style of rug and almost too thick for it, so if you have shag carpet or even the newer sort of medium looking shag type you might want to try and borrow a unit or somehow otherwise allow yourself to verify that it will work for your house. Just remember, plan to put a week into allowing the unit to learn the house and clean the entire house well. Don't give up on the unit too quickly, it will learn. Be prepared to make a few minor adjustments to curtain heights, cord placements ... etc., it won't require you doing a lot. You will be amazed at how well it works and how well it keeps the dust down also. Anyway, my next purchase will be the Scooba 390.

I have two dogs that occupy the first floor of my home. It is completely tile and ~1000 square ft. The Roomba it conveniently set on when I leave for work and docks itself back in it's charging station when done. I have swept after the Roomba is done and found very little hair and dirt remaining afterwards. I still need to take a broom to tough areas every now and then but for the cost and convenience I recommend this. It is easy to program and easy to clean.
