It Follows (A cautionary tale)

We've heard this story many times before, though this time with a new twist. All it takes is 'one time' and your whole life can change.
Unfortunately the outcome here is a shift shaping, murderous stalker. How long can you outrun an entity that only has one goal, to follow and obtain you.
The cinematography, direction, and soundtrack make this movie for me. I love the atmosphere that is built through the use of camera movements and pounding (80's horror movie homage based) music.
Definitely worth the price of admission.

IT FOLLOWS IS MAGIC

There's not enough praise one can bestow upon It Follows. It's a modern classic that fully understands and embraces everything that's good about the Horror genre (psychological scares, a refined script, moody photography, a creative yet familiar core idea) and leaves out everything that isn't (overwhelming/unnecessary gore, cheap jump scares, watered-down details, found footage). Every bit of the production is special. Everything works. Everything is magic. This is the best Horror film to come along in a long, long time and a film that needs to be at the top of every movie watcher's must-see list. Anchor Bay's Blu-ray release of It Follows features excellent video and audio. Supplements are few in number but satisfying. Very highly recommended.

It Follows is a quiet horror film that brings something new to the genre, and any horror film that does just that has already succeeded. As mentioned before, the movie is very quiet and only has a few intense moments every now and then so do not expect a James Wan, constant terror flick-but that's not to say it is boring. If you can come to appreciate the characters and the conflict rather than just the scares, this movie is just for you.

This movie is similar to M R James’s short story: Casting the Runes. There are a number of dramatic and frightening scenes, particularly the opening. Throughout much of the film the tension and terror is sustained and keeps you on the edge of your seat. However, there are times when the story lags, and the ending is a bit glib. Much of the action takes place in abandoned and derelict, former middle-class areas. This feature adds to the theme of social decay.

This is probably the best horror movie I've seen in the past year. It Follows is a throwback to classic late '70s - '80s horror films and draws many comparisons to John Carpenter's style, from the music to the cinematography, It Follows is not an overtly scary movie. It's a slowburner, and the emphasis on mood over jump scares makes it all the more terrifying. must-watch for horror fans that thought the genre was completely drained of originality.

This was an enjoyable film; like playing a game of Checkers for survival. The responses of a teenage mind to supernatural troubles are not predicable but are also not surprising. It was like the turtle chasing the hare, you could catch your breath but not for long and here it comes again. And the attempts to reveal its invisibility were a great offensive move and quite imaginative. And just when you thought they had won the day,… have they?

I don't believe trailers when they say "The most scariest movie I've seen" and other bragging statements about how good their movie is. Because let's be honest, more than half the time it's not true. However, this had a very creative plot and a really good story none the less. I did think it was odd that the kids could pretty much roam and do whatever they want. They were in school for one scene, and then they hang around a beach/lake, going to a different city to track down a boy at another school... Just seemed odd they all could abandon school, and not have their parents worry where they were.
But that's besides the point, this movie was really good and I absolutely love the sound track to it.

As a horror film buff, I regularly purchase horror flicks with little prior knowledge of them. I purchased this one on a whim and was very pleasantly surprised. It was an instant classic for me, and is reminiscent of horror flicks of the 70s and 80s with less corny acting. You can get more details and spoilers on IMDB.
Bottom line, this movie is definitely worth a watch. And the Steelbook packaging is pretty cool!

This movie wasn't what I thought it was going to be. I expected it to be scary and horrifying, but it was very interesting to see an original movie for once. A girl has to sleep around to make the demon following her go away. How is this not interesting! Anyways, I'd recommend this to people who want to see something new and fresh.

This movie has some very interesting elements, including the tried and true evil monster that walks slowly but always catches up to you! The way the curse is passed on is rather immature. The writer could have thought of a better plot device than he did in order to pass on the curse. If you ask me, that is just a blatant way to attract juvenile peeping toms! But other than that, the movie is quite good.

This movie was surprisingly pretty great. It a world of new horror movies that are just rehashes of things like insidious and paranormal activity, this movie had a fresh story. It was not only interesting but also was done in a very stylish way with elements and camera work that paid homage, multiple times, to classics like Halloween and A Nightmare On Elm Street. Highly recommended for horror fans!

Horror movies had a rough road to engage with modern audiences. Months after "The Babadook" from 2014, "It Follows" revitalizes horror for fans and modern viewers, evoking memories of classic late 70s and early 80s horror films and it is worth purchasing. In a "Black Bar" Widescreen ratio, "It Follows" will immerse viewers to the creepy, foreboding atmosphere supported by a arousing soundtrack mix of Disasterpiece's menacing synthetic score and the sounds of "It" creeping onto the scene. "It Follows" comes with a redeemable UV digi-copy and horror fans will rejoice for movie nights to come with this excellent treat.

It follows has a vibe almost like the original a nightmare on elm st. The first half of this film is genuinely scary. The second half is still good but not as scary. The movie is a little too stylized for my taste but I don't think it will bother most people. The blu ray quality is pretty good too but doesn't have many special features. It's a must see if your a horror fan like me though.

The movie started out with an 80s inspired vibe and title screen but the entire plot is original and exciting because it's a story that has never been told, and it was done very well. I very easily fell in love with the leading actress.. and the sexually fuelled story was interesting. I jumped a few times and my heart was racing during other suspenseful scenes. It leaves you thinking about the sequel and I'm hoping they plan to release one...
I am in the "somewhat easily scared" category so hopefully that helps give an idea what to expect. I recommend this movie for mature audiences..

It is so hard for me to get engaged with modern "horror" movies as I have become jaded to most of the modern tricks to scare, however, with this movie it became clear that this was focused more on the story telling and less on the use of cheap scare tactics. In all VERY good and had me engaged the entire time

People used to canned audio jump scares and ghostly innuendo for 2/3 of the film may not recognize a slow-burn horror movie like this for its merits. This movie doesn't want to give you a quick heart attack, it wants to creep you out and stay with you for hours after it's over. It's not wholly original, as it draws teen angst from the original Nightmare on Elm Street and the patience of it's creatures from the original Halloween. The synthy soundtrack is one of its greatest assets as well. It's rare to see a group of teenagers that isn't just a collection of brainless victims. Good show.

This had a fantastically creepy atmosphere of us, as viewers, being watched and followed. I love the long camera pans, which make you feel as if you're there. I will say, however, that the main girl is somewhat of an idiot. If I knew something was out there, following and watching me, I would NEVER go to the beach and keep my back turned to the openess behind me. I also would never allow myself to fall asleep on the hood of a car when I was alone, knowing this thing is coming for me. I was floored by her stupidity. That said, it was a great film.

It Follows is very rich textually and will give you a ot to think about when it's all over. The cinematography and score are also top notch and recall the great horror movies of the 70's and 80's. Particularly the works of John Carpenter, but as much as I enjoyed it, I didn't think it was scary enough to deserve the heaps of praise it's been getting.

"It Follows" is a throwback to when horror was good -- when people like John Carpenter promoted strong writing and cinematography over meaningless jump scares and cheap CG frights. It's a slow burning, creeping dread sort of movie, one that sticks with you long after its final frame has passed. This is a movie for those of you who want something worthwhile to sit on your genre shelf next to some of the only other good horror films of the decade (my copy sits happily next to "The Babadook," "The Canal," "Kill List," "Lake Mungo," and "Sinister," for example).

The cliche of premarital relationships in horror movies becomes an excellent dark indie - an original classic of the decade. When a girl becomes the next potential victim of an unusual cycle, she and her friends must figure out how to defeat a creature that is visible only to her. Fans of "The Ring" or 80s campy horrors will praise this movie.
