Just purchased a new laptop and learned that the trend now is to eliminate alot of of peripheral devices and connection jacks in order to stay thin and light. This multi port adapter was simply plug and play which is very convenient. Plus added back in the extra ports for USB, Ethernet,as well as micro SD card reader.

Amazing product

Everything fits in smoothly and their are no connection issues. Only slight issue is that it gets pretty hot if you have a lot hooked up to it at once, definitely could be hazardous if around the wrong material, but I haven't run into a problem.

Thank you for your praise of the adapter. I would like to allay your concern about the operating temperature of the adapter. We have stress tested these under heavy load with no damage to the surroundings. The adapter may feel warmer than other computer equipment due to its aluminum casing. The aluminum will transfer more heat from the internal components than a plastic case would; thus the body of the device will feel warmer than expected. We appreciate your feedback.

I assume, it would work very well with Windows too. Actually, this J5Create device is not the first one I purchased, and I am buying more of them because they work very well with Linux, which is usually a non-target platform for branders.

I plug in all the other thumb drive and charging cords which is very convenient. Sent an email to the company asking if runs warm to the touch. CS responded within 10 minuets and explained that it will run warm while in use. Question answered!

Typically if you are going to need a bunch of USB and other ports, then this is a good option for the surface. This is plug and play so there really is not any set up that is necessary. Not much I can say other than it fits the bill.

I have several computers and most of them are pre USB C so I now need an adapter. However, the device is great and the one slight drawback is easily remedied.

Posted .Brighter1, It is considered normal for the JCD383 to become warm due to electricity running through the hub. In the case where the hub is becoming too hot and harming you, we recommend that you please contact the support team and an agent will diagnose, troubleshoot, offer solutions and if necessary, offer an exchange under the manufacturer's warranty. Aside from that, we're glad to hear it is working great.

Average USB Type C connector

It runs really hot all of the time. No connection issues just not what I wanted in a product and very pricey.

I'm really sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you.
We do expect that the device will get warm to moderately hot, but this is well within normal ranges. Our device has been stress tessed and we have found that the average max opeational temperature for this product is ~106 °F / 41 °C, this is also while the adapter is under a full load or is being used continuously for >~ 1hr.
Please remember that ambient temperatures can also affect the unit as well as your computer. Manufacturer's recommend that computers be used where the temperature is between 50° and 95° F (10° and 35° C)."
If you are finding that your device is exceeding the average temperature of 135 °F/57 °C, for periods > 30 minutes, it may be defective and we'd be more than happy to help with an exchange. While testing, we haven't found this product to run at anything higher than 112°F/44 °C, for periods <10 minutes.

Great to give a USB C device an RJ45 & other ports

If tension is off the cable it is fine when it does heat up. (Yes it is a good connector on the end of the cable). Beyond that works great!

I plugged it into my Mac, then to an external TV and then tried to Zoom meetings. Sadly it was too much for the computer, but the adapter did it's job. Alas, even technology has its limitations.

Works just fine. And it will be nice to have if and when I need to plug extra peripherals into my laptop. Would have received 5 stars if it had been slightly less expensive.
