I plugged it into my Mac, then to an external TV and then tried to Zoom meetings. Sadly it was too much for the computer, but the adapter did it's job. Alas, even technology has its limitations.

Works just fine. And it will be nice to have if and when I need to plug extra peripherals into my laptop. Would have received 5 stars if it had been slightly less expensive.

Works as Expected

It also has an HDMI port that has been handy to have. When I plugged the Ethernet cable into the adapter, then to my router, all worked immediately as expected. I have had no problems with it.

While this device uses the type C it gives you another as well as 3 USB 3.1's. It also has an ethernet port which the computer didn't, plus an additional HDMI port. Couldn't ask for much else in such a small package. Have not had a problem with any port tried.

It is compact and covers everything from SD cards to extra ports. The quality is excellent. I particularly like the fact that it does not plug in directly to my MacBook Air and only uses one port. It is highly recommended.

Too Darn Hot!

As other people have stated. Though the company says that’s normal - sometimes I feel like I’m playing Hot Potato with it. It’s way too hot for my taste. I think I might actually return it due to the price, it’s not cheap. And it concerns me that this little mechanism can get that heated. I just don’t know what other adaptors are out there that will give you the flexibility of the plug in options and if they also get heated? I cringe every time I need to use it.

All electronic components will generate some amount of heat. The JCD383 will seem warmer than other computer peripherals you may be used to due to its aluminum construction. The aluminum case will transmit more heat from the internal components than a traditional plastic case.

Very flexible

A lot of flexibility given the connections and built very sturdy. Only drawback is it seems to run a little hot when multiple items are plugged in, otherwise a very smart unit

Posted .Hello, since the hub is built with compactness and portability in mind, it is expected to observe that the aluminum shell hub gets warmer, especially if the USB-C pass-through charging and/or all ports on the hub are utilized. Please note that hotter operating temperatures can be expected but should never become to hot to handle.

This DOES work for Samsung Dex, but it needs power on the other USB-C port. Haven't messed with it too much on a Laptop or Desktop yet, but the one time I used it with my Dell E7480 it seemed to work fine.

The aluminum case seems to hold the heat for a while. Other than this minor problem it has worked very well for for me.

Excellent for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.With the new MACs being designed as they are; without, peripheral attachments, you got to use multi tools, this multi-tool does the trick. Though it runs a little warm, it does the job well. Cost wise it is right within my wallets range, yours too for that matter.

Posted .DannaNicki, It is expected that the JCD383 USB Type-C Mini Dock will get very warm-to-moderately hot, but is certainly no need for alarm. We have stressed tested the JCD383 USB Type-C Mini Dock and have been able to determine that the average maximum operational temperature for the adapter is ~106 °F / 41 °C, while the adapter is under full-load or being used continuously for periods >~ 1hr. Please also take into consideration, the ambient temperatures will also affect the temperature that the adapter, as well as the computer, will operate at. If you are noticing that the JCD383 is exceeding the average temperature of 135 °F/57 °C, for periods > 30 minutes, your product may be faulty and may be needing to be replaced. In our testing, we have not found the JCD383 to run anything higher than 112°F/44 °C, for periods <10 minutes. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns regarding to this matter and an agent will be happy to further explain everything.

Portable and practical

I did notice some flickering on monitors when the monitors can switch between two different computer inputs. In fairness. Might be th monitors.
