I have always used j5Create for my mac. I bought this one for my PC and have not been disappointed. The power pass through is great for freeing up available USB-C ports.

This adapter is awesome! It connected both my USB mouse and USB Microsoft Ergo keyboard with ease, and the communication lag is zero between the devices and my external screen and my laptop.
A perfect PnP device. Easy setup and I'm glad to hear all your add-ons works great with the Adapter. Thank you for your review and have a great day.

WARNING! This product does not come with any warranty. This dongle gets very hot and even though I only bought it in August 1922, the HDMI port no longer works! I edit videos weekly and the HDMI port began to not work 8 months later. Sporadically works for a few minutes then quit.
Brought it to my local Best Buy store she said it is not covered under my total tech plan, because there is NO warranty originally with this product.
Complete waste and loss of money!
The USB-C Multi Adapter comes with a 2-year limited warranty. Generally, adapters emit heat as a normal part of its operation, especially if the USB-C pass-through charging and/or all ports on the hub are utilized. Please note that hotter operating temperatures can be expected. Please contact our Technical Support Team, so that they can get more information from you. Their information can be found on our website under the "Support" tab and a specialist will be ready to assist you. Thank you.

But if you are buying it to push video from another device unassisted, expect trouble. Can't push video from my C-book to an external monitor. Lacks the juice.
Hi, thanks for the feedback on the JCD383. We are sorry to hear you are experiencing discrepancies with obtaining video and we would value the chance to turn things around for you. In order to better understand the situation, feel free to contact support on the packaging and a specialist will be ready to assist. Respectfully, j5create

Sold to me by Best Buy employee who knew my needs: Printing from new Macbook Pro to Epson 2650 printer. Could not send to printer (bouncing progress bar). Emailed j5create support and was informed I needed a *powered* adapter (more expensive). My adapter did work for downloading photos. This limitation was not mentioned in supporting literature or the product description.

I hardly ever write reviews, but I need to warn people about this USB adapter! I used this device with Macbook and audio interface for voice over. About 3 months after purchase, I added a 4" ring light for Zoom calls and right away the device got very hot. I thought it was an anomaly, however, during the next Zoom call, I got a warning on my Macbook that a device was overheating! The adapter failed - the ring light and the microphone just cut in the middle of the meeting. The adapter was very hot to the touch - I had to disconnect it from my Macbook so it could cool down. Of course, I'm outside of my return/exchange window. So frustrating for an $80 device.
Hello, dhvoice, we greatly value your input as we constantly seek to improve. It is expected that the JCD383 USB Type-C Mini Dock will get very warm-to-moderately hot, but is certainly no need for alarm. We have stressed tested the JCD383 USB Type-C Mini Dock and have been able to determine that the average maximum operational temperature for the adapter is ~106 °F / 41 °C, while the adapter is under full-load or being used continuously for periods >~ 1hr. Please also take into consideration, the ambient temperatures will also affect the temperature that the adapter, as well as the computer, will operate at. Apple recommends that you "use your Mac notebook where the ambient temperature is between 50° and 95° F (10° and 35° C)." https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201640. In our testing, we have found that for Macbook Pros, the average maximum operational temperature for the adapter is ~100 °F / 37.78 °C to ~140 °F / 60.00 °C, while the computer is under full-load or being used continuously for periods >~ 1hr. The temperature that the Macbook Pro is running at, may also affect the operating temperatures of our USB Type-C multi-adapter. If you are noticing that the JCD383 is exceeding the average temperature of 135 °F/57 °C, for periods > 30 minutes, your product may be faulty and may be needing to be replaced. In our testing, we have not found the JCD383 to run anything higher than 112°F/44 °C, for periods <10 minutes. Please feel free to reach out to the support team printed on the casing to speak with an agent with questions, comments, concerns. Because the JCD383 is under a manufacturer's 2 year warranty, we are open to exchanging it if you wish. Thank you for your time and we apologize for the inconvenience this caused. Respectfully, j5create

Love it as I like using a mouse, the AirMac is not touch screen
Rocketman, in regards to the heat build up, we can understand the concern. Due to electricity running through the dock, this is considered normal; if the JCD383 is becoming too hot to where it is harming you, we recommend seeking an exchange. The JCD383 is covered under a manufacturer's warranty and we'll gladly exchange it for you - Thank you for your time. Respectfully, j5create

I recently bought a pixelbook go and want to connect it to my monitor since I don't have a desktop and this makes it happen. I can use it for my pixelbook or my ipad pro when I want to a bigger screen to look at.

It got almost too hot to touch while using the powered USB to charge a phone. When plugged in with Ethernet it seems to work intermittently, When in use during a Zoom meeting while this device was only connect to ethernet and the computer it dropped out of the session multiple times until I finally unplugged it and went back to using wi-fi.

Cable is too short. Constantly having to reach around the back of my computer to plug anything in. First week of use I lost two thumb drives (became corrupted and unrecoverable). I stopped using it. Not worth what I paid for it, but I purchased it under the advice of a customer service rep in the store.
