Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good adapter for your newer MacBook Air or anything Apple has decided to delete ports on and just leave you with UBB-C ports. However, this thing gets hot. It has a metal shell that gets very warm to the touch. It also draws down your battery. Works best when connected to power. Another thing to consider the shell and cable end are metal. So they will scratch your computer if left to in your bag loose. Other wise it does work good.

Posted .Mac, Windows, Chromebook, Android users looking to add monitor and Ethernet connectivity, SD card reading and USB ports for gadgets can do so with the JCD383, it's PnP design requires no software installation. In regards to the temperature of the JCD383, that is normal under operating conditions due to electricity running through the adapter. If the JCD383 is becoming concerningly hot, please feel free to reach out to the technical support team printed on the casing and a specialist will be happy to help.

I was looking for a product to allow plugging in another monitor from a USB port. I looked at various reviews and this product looked good. It would use the USB Type-C port which is faster. However, when I plugged in the adapter I immediately saw a message on my screen that "Display connection might be limited". Sure enough the HDMI port on the adapter did not function. After hours of research I determined that the adapter is just fine. The laptop has generation 1 USB Type-C which does not support display output. I wish I had known that! I bought another j5create adapter that would go from USB Type-A to HDMI. I plugged this one into one of the USB Type-A ports on the Type-C adapter and the HDMI worked almost immediately. I did not even have to download any driver. Actually, when I went to the j5create site and tried to download a driver, Malwarebytes strongly suggested not doing that. I dunno, I have downloaded other drivers with no complaint by Malwarebytes. Anyway, make sure your USB Type-C supports generation 2 if you want to use the HDMI output. By the way, I bought the laptop from Best Buy. Looking at the specs on the Best Buy site for the laptop it is not clear that the USB Type-C port does not support display. I had to go to the HP site and get a technical manual (supposedly only for technicians who work on the laptop) to determine the facts.

The perfect companion for your Surface Laptop

But the ONLY thing I don't like is the substantive lack of ports. It was hard for me to believe that it had fewer ports than my Surface Pro 4! So, I needed something that would allow me to hook up all my gizmos to my new amazing computer. This did the trick! When I'm not at my desk (where I have a Surface Dock that does all that), this is the perfect portable hub to connect all the goodies to your slimmed down laptop (even if it's not a Surface - USB-C is awesome).

USB Type-C Multi Adapter with ports to spare!

Versatile USB-C adapter

Also the ability to connect a laptop to a hard-wired network connection makes for much quicker backups and downloads. My only possible complaint is that the unit does run quite warm.

Posted .It is expected to observe that the aluminum shell of the USB-C hub gets warmer, especially if the USB-C pass-through charging and/or all ports on the hub are utilized.
Pretty good product, would recommend!

So far it works well and I bought it mostly to cast hdmi from my computer as there is not one built in. It worked as it should had. I had to download some software for it and I didn't find navigating the website all that easy but I was able to figure it out

Extra UBS Ports Needed.
