Posted .In the case where the JCA374 is constantly losing connectivity and requiring a reconnect, it is possible the JCA374's USB-C connector is loose and thus resulting in such outcome. In these scenarios, we recommend reaching out to the support team mentioned on the packaging to speak with a rep and we will be glad to exchange it for you under the manufacturer's 2 year warranty.

Does not work with macbook pro

It sadly is very inconsistent in hooking up with the macbook and is not reliable in transfering the hdmi and usb data to the macbook. It's hardly recognized at times. I would not recommend this version.

okay but no external power source

Caused nothing but problems

First the monitor would just flicker now and then but it just got worse from there. The computer, the latest MacBook Pro, started to have all kinds of problems and not all were related to the monitor. Applications would shut down for no apparent reason. No one else seemed to be having the same problems. It wasn't until I removed the video adapter that I noticed that the computer atarted to run better. I have sense started to use a plain hdmi view cable and USB and ether net adapter that I notice that app of problems I was experiencing were gone. Not just the video problems but also all of the problems that I thought were application or so problems. I don't recommend this device to anyone. I did work with their customer service team and had two of these devices so it wasn't just one bad device

I tried it in both USB-c ports in my notebook. I hooked it up to power as well and it still does not work. The laptop has one HDMI port and I use two external monitors. Maybe I got a bad one? Will take it back.

Not necessary to have all these adapters in one.

Did not work with my tablet

The looks and feel remind me of the trinkets companies give away at trade shows. I am surprised that Best Buy would have a product like this on their shelf’s. It does work but barley. The usb input constantly has to be pushed back in as it falls out even without anyone around. The attached cable is way to short to position it in a way that would make other connections easy to access. I would have returned it but I had to destroy the box to get it out and my time is to valuable right now so it will just go into the garbage when I can buy the one I should have in the first place.

We do have PnP models such as the JCD383, JCE133G which require no software installation and will get you connected as soon as you plug it in. I tried using the USB ports with external drives while plugging in the Macbook power and was getting read errors on the drives. Works fine if you don't use the C-port to power your Mac, but that's the main reason I got this adapter. Better options if you don't need the power port.

Posted .Unfortunately, the USB-C power-in port will only support up to 60W. If your Mac's power is higher then 60W, it may not be enough to pass-through charge your laptop. HDD requires more power to run the device. It's recommended to connection high powered USB devices to a computer. With lower USB power devices, it should work with the USB ports on the JCA374.

Good but wouldn't charge my phone from power passt

It won't charge with this adapter while using the home port to use dex. I don't understand it. If your using a laptop it should work as advertised. For me I don't have a laptop with USB type C.

Posted .AdamNielsen, It is possible the JCA374 may not have been properly connected, thus resulting in this. The JCA374 is a PnP model and therefore should be charging your phone, while also outputting video signal to a monitor via HDMI. If it is not, I recommend contacting support to troubleshoot.
