Because this has the network port and two USB ports, I thought it was overkill, but got it anyway. This thing will actually charge your iPhone just fine - but will NOT charge your iPad. So instead of one device, I ended up having to charge my iPhone on this, and my iPad via electrical outlet. I wouldn't buy this if you need to charge more than one device.

This adapter does require that you do install a software driver. Once the driver is installed and you connect the adapter you will have access to a pair of HDMI ports, Ethernet, and two USB 3.0 ports. I am glad to hear that you got the adapter up and running.

3.0 USB Hub provides high speed for devices.

Most noticeable is the system backup that completes in a fraction of the time the old USB connection required. This was a wise investment.

Not happy about that and returned it promptly. The worst thing about it was that it was recommended by a Best Buy sales rep even though the Apple equivalent was available in store for about the same price. Horrible product knowledge.
