Best Bang For the Buck, JBL=HARMAN

First, I got the new JBL SB450 for a ridiculous sale price of $399. FYI: Best Buy updates all TV's, Soundbars around 15 March every year and must clear inventory for the new arrivals and tech. I was planning to spend $500-750 for a decent Soundbar after being spoiled by the later model JBL SB400 I still use in another home. I employ both of these systems for theatre/movies/music via Bluetooth in different homes. The sound quality, surround, Dolby Audio, true 4K sound, JBL sound-shift, clear dialogue and voice enhancement are superior. The sound bar has clean highs (tweeters) with perfect mid-range that I consider better then Bose (I have a Bose system) Mid-Range is where a lot of the voice comes from and with the adjustable crossover function on the Sub, coupled with the clear dialogue, there is no more "wash out". Such as during high action scenes with a raising score/music, you either hear the music and cannot hear the dialogue, one has to give. Not with this system, set it to your liking and hear/feel everything. Now to what I consider the #1 Asset of this system is the 8" self powered 200 watt wireless subwoofer. I have tested or had over 10 systems including some that were north of $1K and this Sub outperforms all of them with pure, deep, bass. It does not rattle nor roll with action scenes, you can hear/feel the individual punches (if you will). With other systems, you "hear" the bass (and mostly in voice due to lack of an adjustable crossover) meaning you're close to distortion. The difference with this Sub is that you feel the bass & hear the bass though the crossover setting you prefer and can adjust the total bass output on your remote. I like my movies loud and often shake my blinds, side table etc when I am running at 1/2 power. This system also doubles as my stereo as I run my playlists and music apps through it after I switch off the surround sound. This system is rated at a total of 440 watts. Try and found that with a dedicated 240 watts to the Soundbar and a dedicated 200 watt digital amp in the Sub for anywhere near this price. Caution: Your significant other will tell you to turn it down and your pets will scatter as they think its thunder.

Great soundbar. I plugged it in and it worked. No app to download, no settings to change, no remote to set up. My TV remote controls it and it is great. I was looking to replace my 5.1 speaker system and A/V receiver. I could never get the sound just right. I had to mess with multiple settings from the xbox sound output, to the TV sound output, to the receiver settings. So I originally got a top of the line Sony HTST5000. And that had too many settings, I had to change the output of my Xbox One and components and set everything to go through the soundbar, and then connect the soundbar to my TV. I enjoy my Samsung Smart TV, and being able to select the Xbox, or Roku through the TV remote. The sound on the Sony Soundbar did not blow me away. The voices on movies sounded muffled and the action sounds were too overbearing. So I took it back and got this Awesome JBL. The moment I hooked it up I was impressed. I didn't have to go through a setup, it worked flawlessly with my TV, and it synced automatically with the subwoofer. The sub is large and in charge, I have it turned way down and it fills my living room with great boom. The sound of the bar is awesome. I can hear voices clearly, and action sounds are not overpowering. Its great. The reason I got rid of my 5.1 system, is that I mostly now watch streaming services and the sound comes in just stereo. So there is no need for the Atmos, or DD, or DTS. I just need simple room filling sound and as easy to operate as the TV sound. All I have to set is the sound volume and the bass volume. It is great. If you are looking for a simple great solution with great quality sound, this is the ticket.

Movies sound great. My daughter loves the Bluetooth feature and plays her music. Does the job of making tv and music louder and crisp. 8 inch sub woofer is optimal for my living room. I’m glad I purchased this one instead of the smaller subwoofers.

I tested several soundbars under $500 based on reviews on Bestbuy as well as other sites. The JBL SB450 is relatively new so there weren't as many reviews, but based on what I read about the JBL SB400 I decided to try it for $399 on sale. I have a 55" Sony Bravia 4K TV in a very large family room. I was told by various sales reps that the Klipsch for $100 more would sound better, but the JBL sounded fuller and richer with much more bass. I must say that most of the soundbars I considered in this price range had small remotes as well as small lighted buttons on the unit. The Klipsch remote was the best of all but the JBL has the sound I was looking for. I was able to sync the JBL to my TV and cable remote so that I didn't have to use the very tiny remote that it came with that was impossible to read. Overall I am very pleased so far with the sound quality and would have given it 5 stars if the remote wasn't such a problem to use. JBL needs to reconsider a better remote.

The JBL 2.1 Soundbar with 8" subwoofer is a great buy. The soundbar itself puts out great high and mid range sound and the sub will blow any comparable sub away. I was surprised at how great the bass coming from the wireless sub sounds. It will rattle the walls especially in action scenes. Switching on the surround sound during movies sounds fantastic as well. I had purchased a Klipsch RSB14 soundbar earlier this year but was very disappointed with subwoofer bass put out. The JBL is less expensive than the Klipsch and sounds much better. Take by word for it. It is also easy to set up and program and took me all of maybe 15 minutes. I highly recommend the JBL as you get great bang for the buck.

Price was competitive as Fry's was selling the 2016 model for the same price. Great staff at Bestbuy Northwest Freeway was more than accommodating with making sure I got the best product at the best price. The sound is rich and powerful and the Bluetooth connectivity is more than adequate as compared to some other sound bars. The remote is fairly small and the indicators are on the top of the soundbar so it can't be seen when watching the television. Otherwise, the sound is on par with other more expensive models.

If you can still find this sound bar, get it. There is nothing else close to the sound you get from this system unless your willing to pay 700 dollars or more.

Bought a few soundbars at Costco but wasn't blown away. Read tons of reviews and thought for my price point 3-$500 range I'd give JBL a try. Well I'm glad I took the vizios back to Costco bcuz this soundbar is tremendous. If you want an affordable soundbar that will knock your socks off, this is the one!!!

My home is pre-wired for surround sound. I wanted to take advantage of mounting speakers on the wall with the wires already inside the wall. I didnt want bulging speakers mounted on the walls. I was going back and forth with my decision. Then I saw this JBL sound bar system. I was pretty shocked with the sound that comes out of it. I had to turn down the bass because it was too loud.....still is loud. Thats the perks of owning a home, no whinning neighbors. So i enjoy it loud !!!! I connected my phone to it via bluetooth it works just fine. The negative about this product is that it doesn't have a screen to see what number the volume is on and what input your on. You also have to point in the middle for the IR sensor to work. I will look into to a solution for the IR sensor situation Other than those 2 things so far it does the job.

I agree with other reviews.... a visible display on the soundbar would be great. I'm not too troubled by the size of the remote however. But if you're looking for a soundbar based on the quality of the sound, this one is for you. I love a lot of bass in music and movies and this JBL delivers. My entire 2200 sqft house rattles when I watch a movie or listen to YouTube videos. True, it can be a little bass heavy, but that can be adjusted by a few clicks on the remote. Movie sound is amazing after watching Les Miserables and Saving Private Ryan. I've owned Sony and Samsung bars prior to this and they don't even compare. I also have this connected to a PS4 and it's amazing playing battlefield one. The lack of a visible display is far made up by sound quality and the rattling bass. BUY THIS SOUNDBAR. You won't regret it.

This sound bar is perfect for movies and video games--really enjoying being part of the experience! Purchased it 2 months ago and continue to be amazed. Never realized how much bass advertisers used in commercials. Aggressive subwoofer makes me wonder if any other SB system can match this JBL's performance for the price. Remote control is skimpy and difficult to read since print is so small; but it's a minor gripe since your main remote control can "learn" the power and volume functions--manually switching audio sources isn't a hassle. Perfect for the size of our living room!

Having had many JBL speakers in the past this unit intrigued me from the moment I began reading the on line reviews. Hook up is a breeze! I set the subwoofer crossover point at the halfway mark and seems to give the right balance for my liking. The bass is there only when called for such as in action scenes etc. Music is well balanced and non fatiguing. This unit cannot be called "audiophile" sound quality but for what it is, it does an exceptional job for hours of fatigue free and musical sound quality. Definitely recommended!!

These speakers were great for my house. Loud enough great sound quaility and totally worth the price. The reason for only 4 stars is because the HDMI cord is short... so ill need to buy a shelf or something so the speaker is close enough to the TV

Love my new sound bar. Listened to all Best Buy had in stock and this had the best sound in this price range. I was foolish and didn't buy right away when it was on sale. Finally went back on sale and I snapped it up ASAP. Sound is incredible and the sub woofer makes a huge difference to the overall quality. Remote control is a little small and easy to lose in the sofa but not a major deal. Great JBL quality as expected.

Admittedly an impulse buy, I rushed home to set it up. Not a techie it was rather straight forward to install. I was amazed with the sound and felt enveloped by it. I spent the next day testing it out on YouTube watching music videos by Queen, Bowie and U2. The system did not disappoint. It can literally vibrate the floor and engulf the room as well as any sound system. I've been enjoying a lot of music videos lately. My one criticism is the minuscule remote control, although I did not try to pair it with my TV remote as suggested. That's a project for a rainy day.
