Great sound. It impresses alot of people really good for sitting and chillaxin

I purchased this item, not just for myself, but also as a gift for another. If you'd rather not read the entire review, that should tell you all you need...go get one! I work as a dance instructor, and oftentimes I find myself in a location without an in-house sound system. In those situations, I've turned toward small, portable Bluetooth speaker systems. I've been intrigued about the viability of this Motomod in a smaller teaching environment and was eager to get my hands on one. I must say, the build quality is impressive. Battery life is as advertised, and while it does add a little extra weight to the device its hardly noticeable...especially as I find myself utilizing the built-in kickstand rather frequently. The sound quality is quite impressive for the size of this device. It has nice clarity and a surprising amount of bass. It didn't quite live up to my expectations for a group class, but in a more intimate venue, 1 on 1, or even for listening to audiobooks around the house, it works wonderfully. If there is anything I would like to see improved in yet another future iteration...I would like it to double as a standalone Bluetooth speaker, and not be tied directly to the Moto Z phone.

...And it does it well! I bought this for use at my desk as I don't always remember to bring a mini-jack cable and the necessary mini-jack to USB-C cable so that I can plug into the radio on my desk. I no longer want or need to hook up to that radio because... This little speaker is wonderful! It plays loud enough that I can annoy people but then, who is annoyed by Sinatra, and is still more than detailed in it's playback to hear musical nuances at low volume. How's that for pseudo snobbery?! LOL! I highly recommend this Motorola Mod! The battery powers only the speaker (not the phone) and it lasts for several hours! I use it every single day since I bought it and again, I can highly recommend this to people I know and love and even you guys that I don't know or love, LOL! It is that good a device. Is it "bulky" or "heavy"? Well, that depends upon whether or not you're 12" tall. If you are then yes. It is bulky and heavy. If you're taller than 12", then no. You can easily carry this unit around with you. ;-) Trust me. I know what I'm doin' when I'm reviewin'.

I recently purchased the JBL SoundBoost 2 from Best Buy and my experience overall so far has been positive. For the convenience factor of instantly adding better sound output from my Moto Z smartphone, I can't complain. On one hand, it definitely improves the audio quality of music and videos with no apparent lag or sync issues like with some Bluetooth speakers. On the other hand, while the sound quality is definitely richer and more detailed than using my phone's speaker, it isn't quite as good as some Bluetooth speakers (although I'm comparing it to my Bose Soundlink Mini, one of the better, if not best, portable BT speakers on the market). All in all, I believe it sounds very good for a speaker mod and it is convenient to just snap it in place when needed. It does increase the bulkiness of my phone, but that's to be expected. The built-in stand is great for using it as a speaker phone. The portability factor can't be beat when compared to Bluetooth speakers. For most people, I think the sound quality will be more than satisfactory. Although there is an Alexa equipped speaker mod from a competitor that was recently introduced, not everyone will need or want that feature, and this is a less expensive alternative. I would recommend purchasing the JBL SoundBoost 2 if you need a convenient, portable, and relatively inexpensive quality speaker mod for your Moto Z or Moto Z Play.

My Moto Z Play speakers are terrible. Started off ok but after a bit, they just waned. Best Buy had this Moto Mod on sale for half the normal price, so I jumped on it. Wish I had done so sooner! It's LOUD, and it's clear. I used to try to use cups and suck to boost my phone's volume when working in the garage, in the shower, or doing stuff around the house. With this, I just set it down and it's way louder than the phone could ever be. At less than full volume, I can hear it clearly across the garage, across the house, or over the sound of the shower (which was just noise before). The unit has its own internal battery, which can be charged separate or together with the phone--a huge plus for me! And after several hours of usage, it wasn't close to being drained.

A little but overpriced. At the sale price, it's worth it. Good sound for the size. They should have built in Bluetooth. That would have been awesome.

There are plenty of bluetooth speakers you can pair with your phone, but if you've purchased the Moto Z series for the mods, then you will likely want to get this mod. Provides significant difference in sound projection, what you would expect form a separate speaker, but sound is clear. Kickstand is nice feature to prop up phone, and turning it away provides better sound. Important to note, this mod has its own battery life and needs to be charged. Has about 10 hours of battery time; however, once the battery dips below 25%, it does periodically kick in an out.

Will this fill a huge room with bellowing sound? No. But it is more than enough for a bonfire, hot tub, pool, garage, kitchen or office. Sounds really good, especially when you factor in the portability and convenience.

I had a speaker that lasted 10+ hours to take on walks with my wife. I used the Bluetooth on my cell to broadcast music. When I bought my Moto, I needed another Bluetooth device with the same long play time as my other speaker. This speaker fit the bill perfectly because it attaches directly to the phone, lasts 10 hours has more power output and has good quality.

I sometimes have issues hearing phone conversations and even the built-in phone speakers just aren't loud or clear enough. So I bought a Motorola phone that could accept mods and bought this JBL speaker. It's like the difference between night and day! I very rarely hold the phone up to my face anymore and when I put the phone on speaker, the sound from the JBL is clear and loud. The kick stand means I can have the phone facing me and, if there are multiple people in the room, it's easy for everyone to participate in the conversation. The speaker just sort of latches on magnetically to the back of the phone. It's a pretty solid connection and I'm not afraid the speaker is going to fall off. The only thing that you should be aware of is that the speaker does add some heft to the total phone weight. But, yes, I enthusiastically give this product 10 (yes, TEN) stars!

I know, I know...people told me to get out of the relationship but I couldn't. They didn't see what I did. The years we had spent together, growing, laughing, loving. Sure, the last three years had been tough but I believed it would get better. We had rough patches before (the post-retina years almost broke my bank account for starters). First, I said goodbye to the Pro, next the Pad, and last, the Phone. My iphone was the last connection we had. So, goodbye apple and hello Android, specifically Moto Z with Mods galore!!! I know it might be too soon to say I love you but I do, I love you... PS The soundboost rocks (one tip, could you make a case that might protect the phone and the mod?

This is a nice add-on for the person who is constantly listening to music and has a Moto-Z phone. I love that since it attaches to the phone I don't have to manually carry around a bluetooth speaker. The speakers add a much needed lower end to a normally tinny cellphone sound. Very nice!

This speaker really puts out good sound and at a high level. I've used it outside, in a gym and inside... great in all instances. Plus the battery really lasts as well. Only have to charge it once a week.

Have this thing playing from practically 7am-1pm every day at work nonstop with no issues, charges up quickly and sounds great as well, picked this one up as a 2nd for the wifes cell

The 5 star rating is for the product itself. When I could use it, the speakers were very clear and their built in battery meant my phone itself was using less and lasting longer. Until my phone died. That's where the experience changes. Partially my fault, the phone was over 2 years old and having battery problems. Best Buy declined my return despite it being less than 3 weeks ago. Amazing product, but buy it from a company that either offers a protection plan (none available here) or who has a better return policy just in case.

Sounds decent for what it is, and is great for casual listening. Don't expect dubstep or trap to sound good as the low-end doesn't go into true subwoofer territory of course. Nice that you can charge its battery separately with the same charger as phone, and has a nifty kickstand too.

JBL has always been known for their quality of both sound and construction. The soundboost 2 is no exception to this. I enjoy the ease of attaching it to the phone and the overall sound quality. I do wish it was somewhat louder, but overall I am very happy with this purchase.

I love that this mod has a kickstand, I really like the look and feel of it. The sound quality is great and it charges independently of the phone. Highly recommend it.

My son bought this for his phone and it he loves it has great sound but unfortunately you cant use it at the same time as the projector

i have had several JBL products in the past and i knew that getting this sound boost speaker for the Motorola phone will make a huge difference in sound quality versus the built in phone speakers. Sound quality is excellent for the size of the speaker mod and seamless connectivity with the phone just plug and play. Built in kickstand on the back is very convenient when you want to stand the phone up while watching a movie. Only thing i would say it would have been nice if the speaker mod had a passive radiator or a small SUB built in that would really make this mod stand out even more and would make for a robust sound. overall great speaker mod which also allows you to use this as a speaker phone for phone calls.
