I initially purchased this product to share movies on my laptop with my girlfriend on a plane. The cable works as expected with little to no loss of signal. Excellent, very durable cable design, not flimsy like most headphone cables these days. I can plug it into my iPod and not worry about tearing it apart with any accidental jolt during physical activity. (i.e.- treadmill,walking on track, hiking, etc.) I give it 4 stars only because the cable could be a few inches longer.

I was sceptical about the quality I would get from splitting the signal, but there was not loss whatsoever. I use it between my headphones and the regular speakers on my PC. This way, I can mute the speakers, but still be able to listen on the headphones. Comes in handy if somebody wants to sleep and you are all wound up.
