Let's start here: the marketing for this movie was TERRIBLE. I didn't see it until a year after it came out in the theaters because it just didn't look appealing. Boy, was THAT wrong! This bio-pic has grit and gravity, humor and humanity. Most people will find aspects or moments of their own lives, struggles, and families in this film, which leaves enough hope and inspiration at the end to motivate you to go out and conquer the world--an excellent movie for young adults with a positive and realistic role model for young women as the subject.

The movie was a strong story of determination. Due to a few weirdly pacing issues, others seem to pan this film. There were many strong performances in this film. De Niro of course brings a elegance and strength to his role, then there is Jennifer Lawrence who is strong and captivating. With her strong acting and strong character you will want to see where she goes in this movie.

When this movie was released in theaters, a number of major critics panned it, which is why I was surprised by how much I really liked it. A fascinating story, it was well-presented and well-acted, especially by Ms. Lawrence and by Virginia Madsen, who played a character role unlike any I'd ever seen her play before. Definitely worth a two-hour investment in time.

I can't tell if it's suppose to be a comedy or a drama. Maybe you can.

This is a film inspired by the life of Joy Mangano (Jennifer Lawrence). and narrated by her grandmother (Diane Ladd). Joy ventures to manufacturing a miracle mop and all the trials and tribulations to get it to market.via TV home shopping. Although appearing as a simplistic story, the acting and the drama in the telling is great.

Very uplifting story about strength and determination. Joy persevered when the odds were against her and now she has everything she hoped for and more. Furthermore, she helps young people who need a little help along the way to fulfill their dreams. In the process she wins, they win, and we have new and useful products to try.

Jennifer Lawrence is possible the most talented and versatile actress. Her strength will always be drama and personal conflict, where she shines here. While this is not as astounding as her role in American Hustle, she is far from a slouch and the Bradley Cooper chemistry still works.

Great performances make up for what's lacking in story. The truly unlikable characters make it easier to rally around Joy's ambitious and beautiful character who seems to be outgunned in the business world. Not one of David O Russell's best, but still a solid outing for all involved.

Based on a true story, Joy comes up from nothing to create many great inventions that take on. However, Joy finds out that her inventions are on the brink of being stolen away from her by a corrupt company. Joy must now stand up to save her hard work and her investments.

I love anything with Jennifer Lawrence in it. This movie shows her in a dramatic role that is not a superhero or sci fi movie (not that there's anything wrong with X-Men or Passengers). This movie features Jennifer as a strong young woman who is determined to succeed in business despite the lack of support from her friends and family. Another great performance, you won't be disappointed.

I am a huge fan of Jennifer Lawrence! I have not seen a movie with her in it that I have not liked. She has a way of transforming herself into the character she is playing. I love in this movie how she goes after her dreams and refuses to let anyone stand in her way!

An amazing movie from start to finish. Jennifer Lawrence is amazing in the role of Joy, a recent single mother, realizing she has more to offer. If you are a fan of movies where a strong female character is just a complete badass...this is the one to watch.

Joy is the story of the Miracle Mop inventor and details the struggles she faced (and overcame) bringing her product to market. She faces betrayals from family and the people she contracts with, but also receives encouragement and help from unexpected sources. In the end, she triumphs and becomes successful. It is a very inspiring movie, one that I will likely re-watch.

Great movie. It told a good story about a woman who truly struggle not only because of her circumstance but because of those who were closest to her. She never gave up and she was still very loving and kind in the end even to though who were not supportive to her. This movie give you hope that you can make it if you truly want to; regardless of adversities.

I didn't know that this movie was going to be about. I just bought it because it was on sale and Jennifer Lawrence is in it. If you like watching QVC or infomercials then this is for you. If not, AVOID AVOID AVOID!

Not J-Law's best film - then again, the bar is set pretty high for the solid turn in she's had in her still early career. I went in thinking this would not be the type of movie I'm in to. My girlfriend kind of made me watch it. Still though, this movie surpassed my expections three-fold. This movie also is beautiful in 4K. A must-have.

Not since Silver Linings Playbook has Jennifer Lawrence had such a powerful performance! This young woman is the greatest actress of this era! Her grace, talent, and overall elegance is untouchable. This film proves that she deserves more awards for her portrayal and flexibility of so many different characters. I highly recommend this film!

Found this one after another deep dive into the Best Buy bargain bin. Bought it thinking my wife would like it, although I had never heard of it. Actually pretty good, we both liked it and Jennifer Lawrence is great along with some A-list supporting players . Great video and audio at a bargain price..

The movie I first saw at the theater and knew when it was release on bluray to get it. The movie holds up well, the cast is great and the pacing is good. You feel for the characters and find many relatable to your own family.

This a must see purchase movie cause it takes you through a whirlwind of a storyline that you can't believe it happened for real to someone who is now a millionaire. It's a Great real story that takes you through tribulations that someone especially a female goes thru and exceeds at the end of the story. A must see movie!
